- Spain, Ireland and Norway are formally recognising a Palestinian state on Tuesday in a decision slammed by Israel as a "reward" for Hamas more than seven months into the devastating Gaza war. The three European countries believe their initiative has strong symbolic impact, which is likely to encourage others to follow suit. FRANCE 24's Oliver Farry tells us more;

Recognition of Palestine is morally right. In the current situation, standing up for what is morally right is important. Israeli politicians are furious - which for me at least, is a bonus.
Excellent news! This will encourage many more middle eastern refugees & migrants to head to Ireland.

This guy s had to uppress his own laughter while explaining the impact of the decision by Spain, Ireland and Norway to recognise the state of Palestine.
His views are clearly skewed towards favouring Israel and laughing at the possibly of a decent future for Palestinians living in a self-governed Palestine
It's like they've created a QR code for the Palestinian state. It's symbolic, but when the rubber meets the road, there's no road. Build the road.
These countries should set an example by giving their immigrants statehood.
Nobody expects the Spanish recognition.

If these states that recognize Palestine do not want to be hypocritical, they should also recognize Abkhazia too. If they really want to help world peace. Abkhazia is not Georgia.
Recognition won't have any effect. A change of ideology is the solution.
Why? Ireland, Spain and Norway are already free democracies. No need for an ideological change.
I will say it again, Spain has 2 regions who are fighting decades to be able to have their own independence and their own nation the Catalans and the Basque region, maybe it is time for Spain to first recognize their own regions as independent nations before recognizing other nations.
It's not the same.
Not the regions, a minority of people in those regions. Independentist just lost the Catalan regional elections and pro independence Basques are down to less than 20%
Catalonia just had its opportunity to elect the pro-independence regional party, but they didn't. It ended up third position. Catalonians who want to be independent are still a minority.

To be honest, if I'm Palestinian, I would like to move to one of those countries that now are just SAYING by their mouths the good words.
