Personally, the reason I find Vita and Switch emulation on Android interesting is because I find it difficult to bring either device with me around town, so having those games on a truly mobile platform is really liberating, but on top of that, it really does make your phone more like a gaming PC with the selection of titles available to you; prior to those emulators, you could play a good portion of the Ys series, Final Fantasies up to 9 or so, many of the Dragon Quest titles and so on, but now a person could play Ys 8 / 9 (both masterpieces IMO), Xenoblade (although this one will probably take a bit of time yet), Final Fantasy 10, 12, Death End: re Quest, the entire Trails of Cold Steel series (!!! these take a while, so playing them portably is great). All of those I just listed are titles I played or am on the verge of playing on PC, but it's cool to think that other people might be able to check them out even without a dedicated gaming PC.
I'm really happy to see that platforms continue to open up over time, and that people can do what they want to on the platform that suits them, instead of being locked to five different devices to play all the titles they want.

Uh final fantasy has been able to be emulated on android upto around 12 not 9. 12 has run really well on many androids for about a year or two since aethersx2 came out same for 10.

@@jordanrock3494 I believe you it improved a lot from its early days especially optimization for lower end androids. Sucks the guy is gone but I understand why he left. Also Emulation on android is way more convenient if your busy with work and life which I am now i literally am making time for my switch and don’t have time for my ps4 anymore and android emulation has been my primary for a while now. But it is a lot better with a flagship though.

This is neat! I think game perseveration is a good thing even if you have to pirate it most of the time. It's so hard to get out dated systems that it's faster to get games that way anyways. Emulators have come so far too it's crazy. We can even emulate switch games kind of now. Vita3k is one I'm keeping my eye on I hope it's successful!

Crashing isn't often a result of performance overload, but of an error in execution (eg. segfault, memory leak, etc). A computer will gladly hang for 10 seconds on a single expensive task if OS doesn't complain.

Wow, I'm shocked to see the performance so good at this stage! Last I checked in on this emulator even on the X86 side, we could barely get 15fps out of persona 4! To see some games seemingly fully playable blows my mind!

    • @maydi1998
      @maydi1998 Год назад +6

The thing with Vita and Switch emulation on Android is that it's quite easier since both consoles use ARM architecture, so there's no need to emulate the actual CPU, just the GPU. And since the snapdragon devices have some custom drivers in the wild, you can squeeze the chipsets to the last drop of performance with the right emulator. Unlike x86 versions of the same emulators, that need kind of a nice and buff CPU to run the games properly.

As it stands, I already have a Vita and a Vita/PS TV, so my bases are (for now) covered. However, I have and will continue to keep an eye on this emulator. Given the expensive price of PS Vita consoles, games & proprietary storage cards these days, Vita3K is the closest we can get to emulate Vita games, granted using the more powerful smartphones. While some Vita games (particularly indie games) have superior ports on Android, & Switch in terms of portability, there are a few others that would never see their other pocketable port apart from PS3/4/5 home consoles.

When the fold 4 is opened like a book, the USB-C port is on the bottom of the phone on the right half, so if you turn it landscape the usb C port is on the right side on the top "half" of the phone, so if you put it in these clips it would extend lower (if it even fits). So basically I'm looking for one where the USB-C part is on the left part of the grip/controller so that you can flip the phone around and it will extend upwards. Hope that makes sense lol. 8 gen 1 and later won't have custom drivers for a long time which sucks because the 888 is not good at least GPU wise and 870 is really old (2019)

Yeah, that's the bad thing about the current emulators that don't just "work" out of the box. I hope this isn't the new norm.

Could you do a follow-up showing off the AYN Oden running this emulator. Not that this isn't excellent, I just don't game on my phone

Playstation should drop a vita 2, make it backwards compatible and revive all the games the vita had (that way day 1 we have heaps of options and it gives games like killzone another life) , add L2 R2 and an SD card slot.

With the steam deck existing at such a cheap price point for so much power and being an actual PC and all the goodies that come with that fact, good luck lmao.

this emulator is on its third version and it already have some pretty decent performance.

Does the emulator actually detect the phone camera? I know there is a section in Uncharted Golden Abyss where you need to point the Vita's camera against a light source to solve a puzzle, which is a blocker on the PC version of the emulator.

maybe its just bad compatibility of the custom gpu driver? similar to a 3080 driver is slightly diff from a 4090 driver

I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S9+ with a Snapdragon 845, and since you said performance strangely runs better on older hardware so I was wondering if I could get a somewhat playable experience with that?

Yeah I’d say 835 and up is good for most emulators 820 and 821 and older are almost complete garbage as 835 is where android got a lot more powerful. I know the difference from have a 821 and 855. I do want a snapdragon 8 gen 2 when I get the chance.

can anyone explain to me why sd888 perform better than the newer gen sd? im pretty confused here, its not like small difference, but it actually runs better in older snapdragon like wtf. thank you for this vita3k review btw taki.

It's because the APP was build with the older processors architecture in mind, I think it's only a question of time till the APP updates for the newer processors get better performance

It's the driver optimizations.. Older processors have given drivers more time to mature.

Ok so, I installed Vita3k and for some reason neither my controller or the touch screen will work on any the games I've tried. The controller pairs but won't do anything but it's set as 1 and not the 0 input that says something else is connected when there's not.
