I don't understand why people think prison should be a joy - prison is meant to be a deterrent - that's why the crime there is low and you can wear your nice stuff, have a mobile phone without the fear of being murdered, stabbed or beaten up. We had six murders in the UK in the spate of a week because of undesirables, drugs are rife, and the shoplifting here is insane. We need deterrent like this so decent folk can enjoy a life without fear - well done Dubai. Also, your story about some tiktok girl let’s know both sides of a story don’t simplify, how do you know she didn't have drugs? Because she said so - really.

You nailed it. I was born in Abu Dhabi and mostly grew up in London, then remaining teens years in Qatar and loved the experiencing and the country. Everytime I went back as a brat of a big mouth teen, I grew to know how to get myself from the airport to my parents place, then meet buddies the same night (my parents had an odd arangment where my dad worked there and mum raised us in the UK). Like you said, the lack of seasons is wild, the feeling of your time being here being borrowed and to enjoy the NOW, the subject matter of nationality is everywhere. The polite and respectful people, women being able to go for a jog at night, kids out and about at 10pm. I remember my little sister 'casually' being driven about by my dad as she sat on the centre arm rest. Being TOTALLY cool with people talking on the phone at the cinema...the kissing scenes being cut out of movies :D Loved it. If anyone had the chance to move out there, and experience it, I would highly recommend it; like properly live there, even for a year...it's like a different, beautiful planet. Hey! Living in Dubai. Totally agree with what you said. The lack of green spaces is the biggest con with the quality of air for me. But the city is evolving and they are more greenery and cool walks compared to five years ago for example. The pros like the safety of this city and the easy lifestyle make up for it for me. It's true that summer can be tough but half of the year the weather is perfect. Living inside for me is not different from five months of winter in Europe. We prefer all to stay inside there too. There was no regular flights, but chartered flights for nearly one year from the start of COVID.

Citizenship is the last thing you want in the new world. I know an old guy that lived next to me when I was living in Bangkok for example that lived there for 40 years on a tourist visa 😂. So many countries now, you can just pay a bribe or get an elite visa or golden visa, you don’t really need citizenship anymore. For flying you just go by private jet. No passport required. I’m in the process of dumping my U.S. citizenship for example as it’s absolutely worthless unless you enjoy donating 50% of your income to a country you no longer live in. Citizenship is simply not needed for the types of people that live in Dubai. If you don’t understand why then you probably aren’t wealthy enough to be in Dubai. Stale air? What? What part of Dubai are you in? I’m in Marina and it’s amazing, ocean breeze daily for morning runs. The heat isn’t even that bad bc it’s dry heat. I run 13 miles regularly in 40 degrees C and it’s a non issue. This sounds like jealous cope bc simply have been out priced by American nomads earning $50k-$100k / month
