    Hi Katie, I have that Wallace Seymour ink and I soak it in hot water to open it. It also helps to have the ink warm to be able to mix the pigment back up again. I think the warm water helps to soften the binder or something, which gets stuck around the lid. I just discovered this by accident out of desperation to open the bottle! 😅

      Aah thank you so much Marilla, that is so helpful! Mitch managed to get mine open and I tried to scrape off some of the stuck bits around the lid but the warm water sounds like a much better idea. Thank you for sharing! 🥰

    Enjoyed seeing your process, and while the pens didn’t quite turn out, it’s heartening to see that none of us are alone in our mishaps and things not quite going to plan, so thanks for sharing! Would be interested to see you revisit the Ecoline experiment in the future. Always a pleasure to see you do an on location sketch, lovely work as always! 🙂🎨🌳👍🏻

    I love experiments! And lol, I jumped when the yellow shot out 😂 my go to color to "dirty" up, mute almost any color is burnt umber, it's magical! And to mute greens, I use oranges... thanks for such a fun video Katie!

      Hahaha I did too even when I was editing it back! That's great to know, thank you! I was hoping the Sand Yellow was going to be more of an ochre/brown tone but I bet burnt umber would work well!

    Great vlog as always 😊 Too bad the brush pens didn’t work out, but I’m glad you kept it in, things don’t always go to plan, but not everyone show that in their videos. Looked so nice to paint outside, really need to try that sometime. I just find it so overwhelming selecting what supplies to bring. But seeing what a lovely piece you created with so few supplies really inspires me 😄🌻

      Thank you so much 🧡 I'm glad I decided to keep it in too, despite the feelings at the time 😅 Aw I love that! I usually pack wayyyy to many supplies with me but it was nice to just take a few! I recommend giving it a go for sure 🥰

    I love the way you translated the scenery in your style on the paper 💓 The process seems so effortless! I never caught your lives, but I'm glad the recordings are still available to watch! ☺I've been thinking about trying going live and sketching with fellow artists. Could you please share how you use background music during live-streaming?

    • @KatieMoody
      @KatieMoody  Год назад +2

      Thank you so much Kati 🥰 Of course! So I just put on a video of copyright free background music I find here on RUclips and have that playing. I use Streamlabs for the actual streaming and to create overlays/control the audio 😊

    I personally enjoyed all of this video.
    I love the experimenting with the art supplies and find it very interesting.
    I’ve been considering buying some ecoline pens mostly because they can be refilled…but the colors are just too vivid for me and thus my interest in your experiment.
    I think maybe I’ll just keep looking because I don’t want to spend my time trying to desaturating them.

      Thank you so much, I'm so pleased you enjoyed it 🤗 Yes I'm sad it didn't work out as they can be a bit too bright for me too! It would take quite a lot of other ink to change the colours so I'm not sure if it's worth it in the end which is a shame!

    Using colour theory, wouldn't you tone yellow by adding purple? Alternatively, can you make a dark mud from all your ecoline colours and add some to each of your unwanted pens? That should produce a harmonious set (in theory!) I'd be interested to see further experiments. Iadded afew drops of black ink to a too bright paint marker. Changed the texture, but the pen is useful to me now.

    • @KatieMoody
      @KatieMoody  Год назад

      Yes definitely, though I was really trying to use what I have and not buy more art supplies 😅 Seeing as it didn't work at all though I might try purple in the future and come back to this! That's interesting about the black ink too! I think even if it changes the texture, the fact that we'd use it more is a better outcome than not using it at all!

    • @susanjohnson7854
      @susanjohnson7854 Год назад

      The black went into a neon pink colour and made a beautiful grape shade. I don't know how " juicy " the ecoline fibre reservoirs are, but could you squeeze some blue into the orange and vice versa? Thanks for showing your experiments.

    • @KatieMoody
      @KatieMoody  Год назад

      @@susanjohnson7854 They seem to have a coating around them so I'd have to remove it from that before squeezing - could be doable but I expect an even bigger mess 🤣🤣
