That is a beautiful GREEN painting!! I LOVE it! I think you were being too hard on yourself, as you said 🙂. I love the green and I think there is something magical that happens when we create art in nature. I think all the colours and what we're actually seeing become amplified whether the colours are bright and bold ( as you used) or they are muted. Nature inadvertently takes control of our creative tool and is leading us...that's why you question whether or not the result of what you created is really you. You saw what you saw and especially felt (that's nature talking to you) and then you painted it 🙂. It's a beautiful and soothing piece Katie!
This was such a lovely comment to read, thank you so, so much! You're so right - I always feel different when I'm creating in nature and can be completely mindful in the process. I think because we remove ourselves from other distractions and we only have the art to focus on! I really love what you said about nature taking control of our creative tool - so true!! 😍
Only just come to this video a year later. I really loved your painting and appreciate that it pushed you out of your usual style which I think is a good thing. The dynamic of real time /on site painting challenges our perceptions. This video has inspired me to go out …… when it stops raining!! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much, it's so lovely to hear your thoughts! Totally agree, it's so interesting how our art changes when we're outside. Fingers crossed for no more rain and we can draw on location soon! 🤞🏻
Thank you for taking us on your sketching adventure. I tend to use acrylic inks in journaling as splashes for backgrounds but I have painted with them once. I mixed on the page and it came out a bit of a mess but I definitely want to try painting with them again.
I really enjoy watching your process. I think your painting is beautiful, but I totally understand that feeling when it doesn’t feel quite like you had hoped. Thanks for sharing with us!
Thank you so much Lou, I really appreciate that! It can definitely be difficult to balance what we imagine in our heads to what turns out on paper sometimes!
I loved it! I really think you were being too rough on yourself! It's lovely to paint outside. I'm starting to discouver that myself. Soon there will be a video on that on my art channel. Please chech it out!
I am looking to get a few acrylic inks to get a sense of whether I like it as a medium. What colors would you recommend as a starter set? Does a set of three primary colors + black + white make sense? Would love to hear your thoughts!
Yes 100%! That's what I started with - a yellow, red, blue and the white and black. I rarely use the black actually (it came in the set!) but could make the colours I needed most with the others and it was really helpful to start with! Definitely makes sense and a great way to try the medium 😄
@@KatieMoody thank you so much! Your paintings and talks are always very inspiring! I found your channel recently but have been making my way through your older videos 😊

Just bought some acrylic inks and I’m so excited to try them out! 😊
Oooh so fun Mickeeva! I absolutely love them, they really help loosen me up when painting!

Oooh that's a great idea, I'm the opposite and haven't used them in my journals yet! They're so versatile, I really love the consistency!
I really like the end result! Thanks for taking us on your trip with you.
Thank you so much Jaime 🥰
