    I'm a bit of a mix too. I mostly deal with Barbie/Mattel cause they have the best in my opinion but even with that said I mostly deal with the Signature dolls. I love the mature look of Signature dolls' face sculpts and their clothes are amazing. I'm a HUGE fan of the Made to Move bodies but yeah I wish the original Made to Move girl bodies were better. Accessories is just whatever works whether it's 1/6 scale stuff I find at craft stores or having to look at other doll lines for what I'm looking for. I mostly just build my own rooms and buy the furniture off of Etsy cause I don't like the plastic look of most play sets. It's pricy but worth it.

      Well you can make multiple use rooms, like the backdrop she used here, that brick outcropping could have a kitchen on the other side, or a closet. The bed could fold up and be a bathroom, stuff like that. You could have a faux dresser that reverses to a fireplace. She's given me all kinds of ideas of what is possible . You could even have wall art that reverses to a flat screen TV

    In a perfect world! MGAE would create a line of 12” fashion female and male dolls that are similar to Barbie and Integrity dolls with MTM articulation and the same fashion details as RH and OMG! They would be killin’ it!

  • @VoodooAngel63
    @VoodooAngel63 3 года назад +29

    Mine would have to be the classic Barbie face sculpt with the short side part hair in Titian on a made to move body but with the 1960s fashions and accessories. Back in the day when purses were real and had tiny compacts, combs and hankies in them. The clothes had zippers and hooks and eyes, not velcro. But I would have to go with some of the new 3rd party made shoes that are coming out. There was a company called The Vogue that had some great ones but I don't think they survived covid. Vintage Wolverine or Susy Goose furniture were really gorgeous. I also have some handmade pieces by a doll carpenter in Ukraine that are.gorgeous.
    I have an affinity for the classic dolls since I got my first one in 1966, the same year Barbie first became an astronaut...and her space suit was not pink like it became in the eighties!
    Unfortunately, Mattel no longer puts the same detail into their play line that they did then. Sears sold an actual mink for her one year...and did you know that Samsonite created and sold a set of luggage for Barbie and Ken? A lot of the vintage stuff is really where it's at.

    • @theenchantedceiling
      @theenchantedceiling 3 года назад +3

      60s YAAAAAAAS! The samsonite luggage is the tops! You really can't top the quality and workmanship of the 60s barbie

    Barbie and Rainbow high are my favorite dolls. RH for the Fashion and Barbie for the variety of skin colors, body types and clothing styles.
    Even though I like articulation, I hate to see the joints show.. but that's just my thing.
    To me Barbie has fell off when it comes to contour fashion and RH has pick it up. Both are pricey when it comes to their sets. But you get what you pay for. And they make it worth it sometimes

    I, for one, appreciate the varieties of dolls available today. As little girl in the 1950s, almost all dolls were blonde, blue-eyed, and light-skinned. That was fine for my middle sister, but I had my father's light olive skin, green eyes, and nesrly black, curly hair. My male cousins were in the military and they would bring me home from around the world the dolls that looked like me. One found a Saucy Walker with braids like me. One found a 14 inch Toni. God bless you, boys, where ever in heaven you are! Lou, George, Bill, and Clint!!!

      Diversity is the most important to me, tied with articulation. Proportions is important - I don’t like massively oversized heads. I also don’t like inset eyes at all. Clothes… I like details and a wide variety of styles… but I’m not swayed by stuff that borrows too heavily from the real world or feature things *just* because… like bulky mini pockets the dolls can’t actually even use.

  • @jennynevers4811
    @jennynevers4811 3 года назад

    I agree a lot with most of your preferences. A made-to-move body is definitely very high up there on my priority list. Other than that I like realism in pretty much everything (skin tones, hair, face sculpts, fashion, furniture etc.) I don't really buy a lot of furniture, because for most brands it's usually pink or very extravagant in colors, and i prefer realistic wood/stone/etc. colors and textures. So I usually craft my own. Same goes for accessories.
    For clothes, I find it important that they are a size that fits most dolls, so I can mix and match as many doll lines as possible. My favorite clothes so far would probably be from My Scene, due to realistic materials and colors as well as details. Also, while I do love the quality of Barbie fashion, I really am a bit annoyed by the recent trend of having cheaper/uni-colored fabric in the back, so only the front of the clothes looks good. That's a bit of a sham and I wish that quality doll brands wouldn't stoop that low.
    Also important are good shoes. It's okay if they are in one color because they can always be repainted, as long as they have good details and a variety of individual designs. And, obviously, as long as they fit well, i.e. don't fall off, and aren't too difficult to put on.
    All in all, realism and quality are the biggest factors for me.
    That being said, the early Monster High dolls and their fashions will always have a special place in my heart because they were so beautifully dark and different. Those were the only dolls where I didn't mind the bigger heads or unrealistic colors or over the top fashion, because they were meant to be different in support of individuality.
    I've just read through the comments and it's amazing to see other doll fans describe their favorite dolls and what is most important to them. So interesting to see everybody's preferences and ideas. Thanks for bringing up this discussion!

    So cool to think about the ideal doll 🤗 I love the concept !
    Mine would be a Barbie head on a Barbie MTM petite body as well (it can fit more clothing on pure neemo size in my case) and I love its proportions better than the original. I prefer a Barbie head because it is also easier to remove the head in case I want to try other body types or if there are necklaces that are too difficult to put on. Also, the most durable doll the better : I have a lot of play time with my dolls so I want to make sure the body is solid.
    About the head, it would probably be the Barbie goddess of spring (I couldn’t find a doll I like more in my collection 🌸) so this would be my ideal doll (I just hope Barbie would make more petite MTM dolls and that would be perfect 🤩).
    For the accessories, I do not have preferences because I do not use a lot of them but re-ments have amazing quality with a great variety of collections

  • @pamelamoniz608

    Love this video! For dolls, like you, I look for bodies in different skin tones, heights all with the most articulation and heads with realistic and variety of faces. The hardest are older or mature ones. As for furniture, I find most Barbie furniture is not 1:6 scale. Sofas are not the right height or length, chairs are not tall enough, beds are not long enough and a lot of the clothing not “real fabric. “. So I re-body many dolls and search for clothing from the past. I also dream of one day building a true 1:6 scale “modern” house with contemporary furniture. Keep up the good work!

  • @Carlyneliz
    @Carlyneliz 3 года назад

    My ideal doll would be realistic proportions, fully articulated, beautiful faces, realistic durable outfits (the fashion fever line in the past was the best!) realistic looking accessories (purses made out of real fabrics, earrings that actually dangle, etc...), Pets looking more real and with fur, doll house furniture with real materials, and lastly, I'd love to see a barbie house that has plenty of walls and actual rooms. I love Barbies but lately I've just been not into them as much due to the lack of quality. The "Looks" series dolls is what grabs my attention. Especially the gray sweater dress doll that I missed out on years ago. I'm hoping one day companies will catch on and listen to what doll collectors are looking for. ❤️

    what about crateable world than? I was even able to adjust my mini-mes legs to be angeled the same as mine to put in braces they are very articulated and the fashion items are better than most dolls... like personally i prefer dolls with big heads like the midori from pink vetch, blythe or pullip dolls but for realistic i think creatable world did a good job... aside from the face sculpt being the same for all dolls

    I just love head sculpts so I really love I T dolls at the moment, and I love their clothes. I just can’t afford to buy them! I really think the Barbie Signature Look line is beautiful as well! I wish we could get them for the price point Mattel had set for them!

    I love Calico Critter's detail as well! The price for me is a bit expensive, but everything is so cute! I also agree on Rainbow High, lovely clothes and details, but higher on the price point. I guess you get what you pay for, in this case. I love following your videos!

    My ideal doll would have to be fully articulated bodies, durable, the clothes has to be fashionable, trendy, modern and glamorous. My fave face sculpt has to be xena and Gabrielle dolls cause they are so pretty to photograph. I do love some accessories but I often shop on etsy for realistic items in miniatures. I did a made to move xena and Gabrielle dolls. It is so much fun and I love that I can now dress the girls in my style. For the clothes, I would love to see some xena warrior princess fashion packs plus if you are thinking of pets, you have to add Argo and make it a 1:6th scale. I am a fan of xena warrior princess and we are missing her, Gabrielle and a few other characters from the series in the miniature world. I took a toy biz evil xena doll and a tall barbie made to move body and created a made to move evil xena doll. I am happy and now my photos are on Google cause if I can make a made to move xena doll so can other xenites.
