Hey! Professional vocalist and voice instructor. I just want to point out, but the general public has no idea how unbelievably talented this mans vocal cords are. His ability to switch between the different registers of his voice was still adding vocal fry is unbelievable and then to be able to do that for so many years and at his age now without losing his voice, unreal.

Everyone whom didn't know Disturbed, but had ever listened to David's version of Sound of Silence, immidiatly could hear what he can do with his voice. Even the ppl whom don't have a 'music ear'.

I was here for this in the stands, it fucking rocked, the pit was so intense

I've seen some live shows in my day and not many sound that great but holy shit disturbed sounds way better live than CD
Maybe in person the live shows would be better, but if you can't make it to a live show the videos of the said performances seem lack luster compared to say the disk version, i assume its all in the atmosphere during a live show

Elite Minecrafter 6790 I'm pretty sure David uses false chord like James Hetfield, which does take a toll on the voice after a period of time. Plus, like the other guy said, David has an issue with acid on his vocal chords, which makes everything that much harder for him.
Empty The Trash my friend used to do this when he was singing live. Cup and hold the mic really close and effectively whisper his growls. Then if he sang clean he'd either hold the mic a foot away from his mouth or use a second one

No, his voice is damaged due to stomach acid burns, a valve in his throat that controls acid flow from his stomach was destroyed and he now has to sleep upright and watch his diet to make sure his voice doesn't get completely destroyed, Epiglottal Distortion(the type of singing you hear in metal with rasp) puts literally almost no stress on your voice because it's not happening in your vocal folds, your glottis compresses and little tiny air puffs come out in short intervals causing the rasp, it puts little to no stress on your vocal folds because it doesn't use them, educate yourself please.

conner taylor, I have Agoraphobia and take Pshyciatric Pseudosiezures when put under stress. Can't be in even small crowds, so I can imagine what would happen if I went to a concert. I'd never make it past the ticket booth.

It's a phobia or fear of being around crowds or groups of people. I have panic attacks and freak out. Even at family gatherings where I know everyone there. I still can't do it. Makes for a pretty secluded life. It sucks very much!
