In the new season of The Family Affair, four families across Asia open their doors to viewers as they embark on new beginnings in their marriage or business.

Nowadays, people remember or call their parents only when they need help or want favours from them. Most of the time, the elderly are forgotten folks.

I hope after a year or two later, we can get a quick update video from these families, Season 1 and Season 2! Plus, the Chinese grandma is actually really cute, I love how she's friends with her grandkids.
I’m a little perturbed that son didn’t hear from mother for over a week, and did zero to find her except calling her phone which was switched off. I feel a son who is concerned about a mother would sound the alarm after a day or two maximum and do everything he can to make sure she is ok. Anything could have been wrong she had health problems and is elderly I would have panicked within 24 hours if I could not reach my elderly mother and ran over to her house. If she lives out of town I would have called neighbour or police to do a wellness check. Kids today really don’t take time for elderly parents it’s a shame.

I think you cannot judge him because you do not know the relationship between them. I think they are used to not talk for a time. He may thinks she wants to be left alone and respects her decision. I would never call the neighbour because I don't have their phone number. Calling police just because your mother that wants to be alone does not answer her phone for 24h is a bit exagerated. Wait at least 4 or 5 days and go check on her first before calling police. The mother also does not seem to be very affectionate but rather independent and not even making a big effort to be close to the grand children because the one does not talk much abd the other is miss behaving a lot.
I would hope that Titin, the lady causing conflict between Winda and Arnes, will have the good grace of finding alternative accommodation for herself and leaving the Ritonga family home to enable the couple to concentrate on one another and their relationship.
The Misra family is a nightmare . If I was him I would divorce her . That boy is a bully and no good .
When I see the kid react I things he had some Autism’s inside him ... he always react hyper and can’t listen to order very well

What is the enrichment for? Kids go to school to learn, not to prove to the other kids that they are better. If you found him to be a slow learner, that’s the time you do. Either he’s not coping up quick, or everyone else attended enrichment classes pre-primary. Lol.
What type of counsellor make the husband say the most intimate words when he doesn't want to? She should encourage him by trying to help him with some self reflection and find out the source why he is so adamant to say it to his wife. If we can have update on all the families on their progress would be good.
Exactly. Also after 17 years, would she not have preferred for him to say it in a more romatic setting? Or maybe get it in a written form. Or he could have written her a letter with what he does that shows her love. I think he does not love her, that is why he cannot say it. He feels responsible for her, but he never was in love with her. It is that simple. He is probably in love with the other woman and is maybe not even aware of it.
I was shocked at the indian family eating their meals on their bed..even flatbread with dip and milk tea etc.. understand it's a new house that they might want to think over what furnitures to get but not even a simple small table for a start that they can actually sit on the floor like japanese or koreans and eat by the table??
there are a lot of indians who do that... nothing wrong with it as long as they are comfortable.

No, there is no need to send your kids that young for additional enrichment classes. Just bring them to a nearby public library and cultivate the love for reading in them. Simple learning of ABCs would make a good foundation for learning sight words. Writing comes naturally with reading (I am not talking about learning needs such as dyslexia). Good old Enid Blyton and Roald Dahl are great choices, not Geronimo. As much as Geronimo has somewhat of a good plot, colourful and animated writing, much of it is gibberish and conversational, it would be good when the kids master reading and delve into creativity.
Very good sharing by these couples. Thanks for the courage to do so. Setting great examples for couples who may face the same issue. GB you all..
Silas is useless and making his mom feel bad about being poor when he was young. Ugh!

Usually Asian women tends to try to salvage their marriage esp they are the old era (17 yrs in marriage). I do find Asian men ain't very expressive in their feelings, and often does it in action than words.
The India middle class family is just a show off their role is not a great family to talk about .....and alot will agree .
The Indian mother though 🙈 she coaxed her son into calling Vikrant ‘Papa’

I don’t know why some people are down on the Grandma for finding a new partner to make her happy. She looked after her family for years so why not enjoy life a bit now. Her husband passed a while ago and she is hurting no-one. Is she meant to stay alone just to make others happy?
I know right? Her romantic life is no one's business but her. Good for Grandma though!
@TSG 302W Thankfully there isn't such comments in this episode but op might be talking about the comments in previous episodes where there were comments disapproving of Grandma's relationship or her excitement over her relationship.
Either the Indo husband is a block of wood or genuinely not in love with his wife. It takes so much for him to say 'I love you'. Also his mannerisms and body language towards his wife aren't exactly affectionate. My take is his body is there but his heart isn't.

The mother of Ragua needs to enforce the fact that he is a child and that he needs to mind the kid is so spoiled I was in the same situation ready made family my husband would say you’re arguing with her acting like a child and I felt belittled and disrespected but it got to where I pushed away from the kid.. now that that’s said eyes eventually opened up and I was given the respect I deserve and demanded 🎉

It’s part of many realities; there are very strong, Indian mothers but then you also have Indian moms who refused to lay down boundaries for their children. And I’m just wondering if it’s because the relationship dynamics are so new for their blended family. Further, the “nana” seems to have a big hand is spoiling.

worst of reality show finally. Arnes Ritonga gains my sympathy. His wife is a bad actor, always whining, never satisfied, forcing her man to tell her "I love you" when it's not in their cultural traditions. She's fished that likely in some tele-novelas... The 5yo little Indian supports all the weight of her mother's decisions (divorce etc...). It's incredibly demanding to a brave little guy who can't forget Rahul his real father. Singaporean dad is pointless...
