Getting hate on someone just for discoloring an eyeball? (Which isn't even a big discoloration anyway as they dropped the color for her a while ago) Honestly, why are people so dumb these days! ARTISTIC EXPRESSION EXISTS, PEOPLE! LEARN IT. LEARN IT.
This world really does have an empathy problem, I agree. I wanted to use the internet and my special interests to make myself feel better. But nooooo fans have to be entitled and self-righteous for the littlest inconsistencies in a piece of fanart…
the funniest thing is that not only is that same luka eye color used in the mv for rin chan now, but it's also used for the module for the pv of rin chan now in project diva. Other examples of luka with a pinkish tint to her eyes in project diva include: her outfit for 1925, ultime luka from project diva X Plus other changed like: Kitty ears hoodie (yellow) If you are trying to find a canon in vocaloid you are the problem in my opinion
as a big Luka fan, i literally wouldn't have been pressed about the eye color thing. i would've noticed it, but simplification is very common in art that's more than just 1 piece(points to that very same "Rin-chan now!" music video that seemingly no one complained about before until this silly ahh twitter art nothingburger). i would've been so happy that an artist included Luka, especially an artist who hasn't drawn her before and potentially might draw her again from then on out. (also, also: i've seen billions of art variations of Miku's, Rin's and Len's eye colors in particular... and i only saw very few people talk about it around 10 years ago in a "they're supposed to be THIS way!" sense, and even /then/ it was clear that it was a matter of personal preference in visual interpretation. like they're literally a suggestion of what the voice(s) MIGHT look like made from pixels; it's not gospel, nor is it anywhere near worth warranting harassment for....)
I feel like the pink/magenta for Luka is already kind of canon if we're making windows (eyes) match the curtains (hair) here. Didn't Miku pretty much take cyan since it's part of her character's color palette? Also, vice versa for the others, though Meiko can either be red or brown (if I could draw I would only use red in a very particular situation, like she's either in that one particular collab or a vampire). Rin/Len: Yellow and Kaito: Blue (not Cyan) I wonder if for Rabbit Hole Miku, it was THOSE particular fans (the ones on X [Formerly known as Twitter]) that waste their and everybody else's time complaining about "underage" characters being used in this manner and also conflate super deformed and loli artstyle with "they're children" even though the characters in whatever media they're in could be over 18.
Honestly as a 2009 vocaloid fan, the fandoms always had issues here and there like any other fandom…though something about the introduction of project sekai feels like it’s made things a little worse ngl. Not the game itself being the issue, but a lot of the fans that joined this fandom through the game… Seriously, I wore my “My Dear Bunny” Miku cosplay to a con last year, and discovered fully what project sekai was…through the amount of harassment I got from people dressed as those characters…all because they didn’t know it was a canon design…
It just pisses me off because it’s stopped channel from making what they want and expressing themself and I think that’s stupid. People have been sexualising Miku for YEARS and to get upset at one person for doing it and not the practice entirely is ridiculous (not that there’s anything wrong about sexualising Miku in the first place). Deco’s the one who made the song about the topic so people should be flaming him instead if anything (not that people should either way because it’s a BANGER). As an artist, I think it’s rude and blasphemous to dictate what an artist is allowed to express. Talking about sex and being sex-positive shouldn’t be shamed; I don’t understand why people are so dead set on making it a taboo topic when it’s so common. Though, you probably should make a second account or private account for NSFW artwork for professional and other reasons; like separating your work and home life. With the “eye issue”; a character design is always up to interpretation by an artist, so this is just twitter being stupid once again. It’s like getting upset about miku getting a new design, you sound crazy. Anyways, twitter is twitter, and people will always be stupid no matter how many times you try to educate them. Leave people alone; just block them.
the thing you said about vocaloid not being taken seriously is real. even today, my brother a while ago once said that vocaloid was a phase and that I would grow out of it 😭 he might’ve been joking and I might not have understood but like it’s such a weird thing to say bro
i think the most ironic part of this is they animated a PinnochioP song... and as such, gave Miku the famous PinoPink (i just made up that word) eyes...
And also on the topic of people saying Japanese fans are the chiller between Japanese fans to western fans, I disagree strongly because if you take a look at Genshin, when Genshin/Honkai Star Rail users in Japan do not get what they want, they throw a hissy fit and ruin giveaways for western players. Examples: Skin incidents, Bunny Girl Incident, Japanese getting loads of primogems and western getting very little in comparison, etc. I learn that Japan gets away with everything because in Japan's eyes is as long as Japan players are happy and not hating them, everything is fine and thus don't mind when Japanese players screw up things for the Americans over small issues that were not even for them (Example Bunny girl incident.) Don't get me wrong, western players can absolutely still be toxic, but don't single out the japanese players as one tried to murder the Mihoyo president for the bunny girl incident. Also yes I know this is off-topic for Vocaloid but just showcasing how Japan users are also toxic. Edit: Correction, Mihoyo is chinese company but I believe they do have a japan server so stuff like this for Japan still can happen
@@joelleartastic2468 they were Chinese players, for some of the skin incidents and the bunny girl incident at least, idk if there's other controversies since Mihoyo mostly favor CN players

I love the way you write your script and how you speak about the subject! This being the first video I watched from you this was very entertaining to listen to in the background. I look forward to listening to your star gazing video!
I completely agree with everything that you said in this video, harassing somebody over an EYE COLOR on a FICTIONAL CHARACTER that they DO NOT DRAW OFTEN is insane! plus the whole rabbit hole thing, miku is a fictional character! she can be seen as anything you want! yes her canon age os sixteen but sometimes in the scnerios you put her in, maybe shes younger or older! and I think it is outrageous that people are harassing an amazing artist and animator for such simple things! and do people understand how much effort and time Channel puts into his work!?!? I tried animating once and I couldnt get through two frames...anyways, I completely agree with everything you said here in this video, so, yeah :)
I think people were just looking for a bone to pick with channel. It feels like they've been dominating the scene culturally for over a year now (with Pure Pure marking the real takeoff point for that), and I think people were just tired of it and wanted an excuse to knock them down a peg. People are assuming they're a trend chaser because they didn't realize or forgot they've been a trend creator instead. I have massive respect for channel and as a Teto fan their devotion to drawing her on occasions like her birthday with all the details right and references to her most iconic songs are more than enough to tell me that they are far from a "fake fan". Plus, their artstyle is adorable, both static and animated-I'll never get tired of it. Also regarding your last statement, it feels like these days people need a reason to justify hating someone, because it makes you look bad if you just dislike someone because they're popular. But this ends up making things worse, because now you have people bending over backwards to come up with the stupidest reasons to hate a person online.

Which SANE person is paying attention to a vocaloids EYE COLOR 😭 I was making a cosplay of Oliver and every image I found something in his design was different vocaloid is probably the most inconsistent media 😭😭😭😭
I've been a fan since the Vocaloid 2 era, and it's kinda crazy seeing this now since the whole point of the character box art (other than marketing) was to serve as inspiration... it can be used as-is, or as a springboard for the artist to make their own. Like in Mothy's Evillious Chronicles series, there are literally dozens of different characters based on a handful of Vocaloids. Fans made gender swapped or other alts of characters, like Akaito, that was literally just Kaito but red. 💀 Countless producers have portrayed the characters in all sorts of different ways. Even in the current era, Project Sekai has a version of Miku with different eye colors... Like??? I'm just baffled. People really will get pressed over nothing.
i'm a Megurine Luka fan since it was her that made me no longer hate and instead appreciate vocaloid so I am also kinda particular about her color scheme. Now if it's some alternate Luka for a song's story like with the thousands upon thousands of Mikus, ye she can have pink eyes idfc but i do take issue with it if she's with the rest of the vocaloid cast depicted with their accurate/original eye colors but hers is completely incorrect from her blue variant eyes for some reason. That being said, it's not even a big enough crime to warrant such vitriol. Whoever this harasser is, they sure are being sad and pathetic.
If he quit NSfw art cuz of westeners you'd think he'd include it in his letter or straight up make it in English? Clearly it's due to japanese fans that's why it's in Japanese no????
It's not just the eye color, it was also about the slightly lewd miku art he used to draw occassionally. In the end of the statement he wrote that he will no longer draw such art beginning september 1st. he later published another tweet where he also specifies what he meant by that by saying that lewd poses with full clothing is considered "normal art" and that by "lewd art" he means any art where nudity is implied (like the one art he drew with miku waking up and getting ready for work where you saw her getting changed) as well as lewd outfits (he deleted the post which started that trend where everyone drew that bikini outfit with the tie under the bikini). the pure pure animation did also give him a little bit of backlash back then which lead him to state in a tweet that the character shown in the pure pure animation wouldn't be miku but an OC who looks like her.
i hate channel but all that over eye color is crazy. but it pisses me off even more that people think it’s because “westerners” are mad that he drew sexualized miku. like 99% of the time the people complaining about these westerners aren’t from japan either. they’re ONLY upset because channel won’t draw sexy miku for them to goon too. goooood lord
I’m so glad he’s still posting art, the first time I heard abt this drama I thought he was quitting completely! Also the ppl who think every drama is caused by western vocaloid fans or just anime fans are so annoying
I have a hot take disregarding the whole situation besides the quoted sentence "People who watch 15 anime per season and never think about them ever again - how could you do that, its someone's creation you're treating like a (don't know what you said) of gum but also that you're letting go of an entire universe with no respect to what it gave you. You have no like full care for it I just cannot understand that mentality" I also take fiction in a way - seriously, however that is how some people pass the time even if they dont look back. its a perfectly normal thing that people do with many things. Its normal to let go of things. On the contrary yes its somehow insensitive and consuming but we as humans are core to core different and share different values. Consumerism has been a thing for many decades. You play a game of chess, loose or win and as a human you dont look back unless you genuinely have interest to improve. Also I believe you overdid it with "15 anime per season" there is no normie that doesn't look back on them as a memory. Not a whole lot of people are nerds. The respect to the artwork, composition and creation of the anime is given by just watching and enjoying the show as you go your way. Also there isn't a person who can give a total 100% of their care for a person or object, let alone a piece of media. You indeed can understand that mentality if you actually think about what it means.
@@Muffinzy OH NO i totally get that everyone’s different and it’s on me for not highlighting that!! i was explaining my perspective and how that’s something i can’t comprehend for myself through seeing it in others. i logically know people like that don’t mean any harm by it (+that it doesn’t actually cause harm at all) and that they do it because they view these things in a different way than i do, but i can’t really FEEL that understanding (if that makes sense). it’s something i can sympathize with, but not empathize with. i can’t actually judge someone for it, since i can’t really feel that perspective. the way that i can’t understand that view because of how differently i view media/art is what i was trying to describe. it shouldn’t have been about how those people are “doing it wrong” or anything. i definitely verbalized it super harshly in the video.

Wait wait wait, so it wasn’t primarily because of western fans getting pouty about lewding Miku but it was ACTUALLY because of the guy getting an eye color wrong?? Wtf???

Ppl out here being dramatic mf by an EYE COLOUR, if young artists or a young person in general and see this, they will be scared af bc of their dramataic ahh, making them feeling insecure or stressed by worring if they did something wrong

on behalf of the project sekai community,,, i'm sorry uhh i feel tired right now normally i'd write a huge essay but i might come back (i just came to this video lol)
I feel like it’s also important to note that most vocaloids and Utaus usually have the same eye color as their hair. Miku, kaito, meiko, teto, gumi etc. They all have matching eyes and hair. Plus luka as a character is also depicted mainly in the color pink for concerts/ marketing despite her main color being black and gold with accents of blue, so it’s easy to see why this mistake was made. People suck
Instead of focusing on Channel and Deco*27, what about MASA WORKS DESIGN and many other songs? Also, the Luka eyes color debate is like living through the sonic eye color debate all over again
Mind giving context about Masa Works Design? The only thing I know him for is he made the lost song Interface and fetishizes lesbians, but is there anymore
@@Krusty_bot63 My memory isn't the greatest so some of this might be wrong (apologies), but from what I heard, he doxxed someone over re-uploading one of his songs on apps like Spotify, and I believe he doesn't fetishize just lesbians, it's women in general That's the extent of my knowledge on what he's done, if anyone knows more about what happened or noticed that I got something wrong, please let me know
OK my question is why get so butt hurt about a eye color?! Like in so many album art for vocaloid with varying eye colors for the singers and yet when a artist decides a eye color looks better on this character. Personally imo I love seeing all the unique alt designs people make for the vocaloids! All the creativity people have!
So many characters drawn in anime styling have the same crazy eye color as their crazy hair color. Coloring Luka's eyes as pink to match her hair isn't even that bad of a mistake. I'd understand slightly more if they colored her hair blue rather than her eyes
That's just crossing the stoopidity line fr 'cuz the *_only_* point of Vocaloid is to EXPRESS YOURSELF, and the color palette or depictions of the characters can be different 'cuz (again) it's made to express yourself, so every color variation/depiction is semi-canon (as seen with project DIVA modules), it's so dissapointing and annoying that the community can't understand it, you know *THE PEOPLE WHO LIKE VOCALOID* I'm relatively new to the Vocaloid community (3 ½ years) and I know you are 100% in the right if you want to (example) make Miku Brazilian or have her with white hair and heterocrhomia So from now on, I'm depicting Luka with pink eyes #justiceforchannel
people on tiktok are calling channel a "gooner" for drawing sexy mikus, a p3d0 cuz miku is 16 in every media according to them (when any fan knows she can be of any age and race), and for drawing bochii on a bunny suit. I think people just love to hate others.
Dude, she CAN be any age if you age her up and draw her aged up. But when you look at a 16 year old who is meant to look 16 and still draw them exactly like that, (scrawny not yet filled out body, baby face, big eyes, etc) that shows that you ARE a pedo, because you are attracted to underage characters with not yet matured body and face types.

Dude I’ve been thinking Luka has pink eyes for way too long long 💀 (I have a vocaloid shirt and her eyes are pink)
Other examples of luka with a pinkish tint to her eyes in project diva include: her outfit for 1925, ultime luka from project diva X
Plus other changed like: Kitty ears hoodie (yellow)
If you are trying to find a canon in vocaloid you are the problem in my opinion
I can’t believe some people still tried to blame this on “Westerners” literally proving they can’t read Japanese lmfaoo
The Luka and Hatsune apology art is so adorable aaaa
absolutely adore your art aswell! what a king!
This was honestly really interesting to hear abt plus the art was super pretty and your voice is really nice so tysm
Lesson of the day, any fan of anything can be insufferable. Eastern or western, it doesn't matter.
I hope they don't see the song "Reboot", because Miku and Luka have different eye colors...
8:55 I'm sorry that proseka music is just so out of place here i laughed 😭😭
ASLDKJFASLDF I HAD TO PUT SOMETHING THEREEEEE HAHHLSKHJDFLKJAH
as a big Luka fan, i literally wouldn't have been pressed about the eye color thing. i would've noticed it, but simplification is very common in art that's more than just 1 piece(points to that very same "Rin-chan now!" music video that seemingly no one complained about before until this silly ahh twitter art nothingburger). i would've been so happy that an artist included Luka, especially an artist who hasn't drawn her before and potentially might draw her again from then on out.
I love vocaloid and Hatsune Miku so much, but god, the fandom sure is something else.
Rin/Len: Yellow and Kaito: Blue (not Cyan)
I wonder if for Rabbit Hole Miku, it was THOSE particular fans (the ones on X [Formerly known as Twitter]) that waste their and everybody else's time complaining about "underage" characters being used in this manner and also conflate super deformed and loli artstyle with "they're children" even though the characters in whatever media they're in could be over 18.
Honestly as a 2009 vocaloid fan, the fandoms always had issues here and there like any other fandom…though something about the introduction of project sekai feels like it’s made things a little worse ngl. Not the game itself being the issue, but a lot of the fans that joined this fandom through the game…
Seriously, I wore my “My Dear Bunny” Miku cosplay to a con last year, and discovered fully what project sekai was…through the amount of harassment I got from people dressed as those characters…all because they didn’t know it was a canon design…
I was looking at your art during the entire video 😭 so pretty 🤤
{somebody draws teto and messes up the outfit slightly}
twitter : WITCH!!!!!!

I'm gonna draw Lucca with pink eyes now. Just to piss everyone off
Luka
i saw someone say that channel ruined the art community or something along those lines and i asked how and they didn’t respond
But this ends up making things worse, because now you have people bending over backwards to come up with the stupidest reasons to hate a person online.
channelcaststation is really just going through it jesus christ
Why would they call channel cast station a trend hopper when he's usually the one who starts them in the first place?!?!

Even luca eyes color are really incorrect i think luca with pink eyes looks really cute for me.
Countless producers have portrayed the characters in all sorts of different ways.

I can relate to that deeply
I have a hot take disregarding the whole situation besides the quoted sentence
"People who watch 15 anime per season and never think about them ever again - how could you do that, its someone's creation you're treating like a (don't know what you said) of gum but also that you're letting go of an entire universe with no respect to what it gave you. You have no like full care for it I just cannot understand that mentality"
I also take fiction in a way - seriously, however that is how some people pass the time even if they dont look back. its a perfectly normal thing that people do with many things.
Also SLIGHLTY OFF TOPIC? ppl should focus on the fact he lewds bochi characters and bluearchive characters(ocs in thoze media are CANONICALLY MINORS!) Not Miku lewd art cuz at least she's anything you wanna be and she isn't canonically 16 at all! (Even if I'm not a fan and hate that art 、even I know it's stupid to worry over)

Wait wait wait, so it wasn’t primarily because of western fans getting pouty about lewding Miku but it was ACTUALLY because of the guy getting an eye color wrong?? Wtf???
bro someone on reddit said they got harrassed for saying they thought depicting miku in sexualized media was gross and harmful. That's the extent of my knowledge on what he's done, if anyone knows more about what happened or noticed that I got something wrong, please let me know
OK my question is why get so butt hurt about a eye color?!
That's just crossing the stoopidity line fr 'cuz the *_only_* point of Vocaloid is to EXPRESS YOURSELF, and the color palette or depictions of the characters can be different 'cuz (again) it's made to express yourself, so every color variation/depiction is semi-canon (as seen with project DIVA modules), it's so dissapointing and annoying that the community can't understand it, you know *THE PEOPLE WHO LIKE VOCALOID* I'm relatively new to the Vocaloid community (3 ½ years) and I know you are 100% in the right if you want to (example) make Miku Brazilian or have her with white hair and heterocrhomia
So from now on, I'm depicting Luka with pink eyes #justiceforchannel

Dude, she CAN be any age if you age her up and draw her aged up. But when you look at a 16 year old who is meant to look 16 and still draw them exactly like that, (scrawny not yet filled out body, baby face, big eyes, etc) that shows that you ARE a pedo, because you are attracted to underage characters with not yet matured body and face types.
