Jim milking being ill always cracks me up. This show just simplifies perfectly what a normal family is that's why everyone can relate to it. All the characters play their roles to perfection. One of me all time fave comedies. The writers Caroline Aherne & Craig Cash are brilliant

In all of the show's run, both Antony and Denise never had a key to the front door, and always rang the doorbell. However the backdoor to the kitchen was always unlocked.
the only thing i hate is how they made dave and denise become so stupid during the one off specials dave was never this stupid when it was the original series 1-3 terrible change of character in my personal opinion

This show turned to shit after season 3. They tried to make you laugh with over the top exaggerated, crude humour, before that (1998-2000) it was much more natural and genuine.
Crazy how dated and irrelevant this show became almost overnight. The brand of humour where people who don’t conform to Jim and Barbara’s benchmarks are ridiculed is not funny in fact it’s offensive and quite frankly dangerous. My generation, I have spoken of such matters at uni with my fellow millennials have a more cultured and contemporary pallet than those who came before. I would personally like if royle family videos ceased to be available on RUclips considering the hate within the dialogue I hope all will agree
