Hey Sandra, I got a full-time job as a Jr. Cybersecurity analyst! I remember being very anxious about my career change. And started watching your videos since 2021. It's been a wild ride going back to school as an international student but your channel helped me to get all the necessary info for resume, skills, and even interview prep. I really appreciate you being supportive and transparent about the industry❤️
What exactly You do soc analayst? JR pentester ?
Hello Sandra! Great video, as always, thank you for the content and useful information.
Thanks for sharing this great video, Sandra! Your advice on how to get started in cybersecurity in 2023 is super helpful and I appreciate the valuable information you shared. Keep up the amazing content!
Cybersecurity analyst is my goal now I have graduated. Thanks for the advice! Gonna start applying after bluer team level 1 and some projects
love the content as always, keep it up!!!!
Your videos are so helpful. Lots of quality info
Hi Sandra, thanks for the content. What are some good entry-level roles one can be eligible to apply for once they have a Sec+ certification?
I appreciate the information sandra💪😎
Great video 🔥 I know you got a vid on if you need passion to work in cs but can you make a video on how to stay disciplined and focused while leaning. I went for 4 days without learning then when I came back to it I forgot what I just learned. I set aside time usually but my self discipline is awful
Thanks!
Hi Sandra! I just completed My Bachelor's in Cyber Security and Information Assurance, which also included getting multiple CompTIA certificates. What would be your best advice on how to go about finding a great job in the field? Thank you!
Hello Sandra, I have watch a lot of your video’s. And I have to say you are my favorite to watch. I have a question, what type of a laptop are you using? I’m going to start boot camp in couple months’s and I need to find the first laptop for the job.
thank you
Hey Sandra, I have a question and hope you can help.
So, I passed the A+ a couple months ago back on September 17th. Followed by starting to study for Network plus as my goal is to get into Cyber Security. As I was about a month and half into studying Net+ I was told that I should be focusing on Sec+ So I switched over and started studying Sec+ for about 2 months. Followed by someone else telling me to go back to NET+ as it's vital. I don't know what to do because I need one thing to focus on. Any hep would be appreciated.
What do you think about qualys training as a start into cybersecurity?
Looking into taking a bootcamp and heard great stuff about Evolve Academy. What are your thoughts on it?
Did you apply to jobs that didn't show their salary? I'm always hesitant to apply without knowing the salary. I know that's not realistic to know the salary before hand, but do you have any advice?
I seriously came apon this while studying for my comp a+, now i just wanna jump ahead and go straight into security+ now...Haha! Or should I complete A+ then security+?
What about isc2 CC entry cert?
Hi Sandra:), how I can check which field in IT would be best for me? I have no prior experience in IT, but would love to change my career path, please advise...btw, how long did you study for the Security + Exam?
Do you even work in the industry? I thought you made a video months back about how you left cyber or do you just follow youtube trends and make click-bait titles? Who do you work for? What is your linkedin page so we can validate your credentials?
i agree with sharing linkedin thing?
can I get into cybersecurity with a CIS degree I would also plan on getting certs
I bought a comptia security+ book and currently studying for the certification but I’m a senior in highschool and want to become a pentester so what exactly should I major in? J want to make the right decision. (Your videos are insanely helpful TY)
Probably cybersecurity, with an emphasis on ethical hacking. Not sure what majors your college will offer but you can also look into more self learning methods and gaining more ethical hacking certs like Pentest+ or CEH
14 grand for a 6 month boot camp cyber security program. Is that the cost range for the majority of cyber security boot camps? Thank you
For web development I had to take a COMPTIA ITF+ exam
Sorry but ITF is a garbage cert. why not go for A+ instead?
I am studying Software Dev and now I am enrolled in CCT and by the way I am 62.
I have a criminal justice degree and not really an IT background, what’s a good way to go about getting these certifications if I did not do computer science in college, thanks so much you’re videos are great and super helpful
Hey there. 41 years old. Criminal Justice BA, 20 plus years of customer service jobs. I decided I wanted to change my career. The best way is to start at maybe Comptia IT+ to cover the very and I do mean basic of basics and then go from there. Keep your eyes and your mind open. Be flexible when I first got into thinking about changing careers I thought all of cyber security was coding. Cyber security is vast and there is literally a role for every skill set.
@@Jesse_Johnson I agree! The cybersecurity career field in the United States covers many different work roles. Also, there is a way to start in Information Technology, and then transition into Cybersecurity.
Hey Sandra!
I am starting my cybersecurity classes at my university and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to study, any tips?
I never got a good grasp of studying for my classes until i got a good friend group, i really think study groups are key, especially when it’s a hard or boring class (which tbh is a good chunk of classes in college lol). Connect with a few classmates (or just one other person) and maybe plan to get together weekly or before exams, it really helps you push through too rather than procrastinating when you do it with someone else! This could work just as well with friends outside of your major/classes too if you just have study hangouts. Also try timeboxing and other apps that help with keeping you focused for short periods followed by quick breaks. Good luck, you got this Cynthia!! 😁
@@WithSandra thank you so much! This might seem like a silly question but I’m trying to figure out whether or not to buy notebooks and pens or just simply start using my computer to take down notes, any recommendations?
Hi I'm Ariful Islam leeton im software development and software engineer and website development
What degree do you have? Bachelors? Master? PhD? Also, I hear they do lvl 2 background checks. I guess you can say I have a criminal history. I went to court, but they trial was taking incredibly long and it ended up taking a couple of years. I eventually went with community services to get my record scrubbed. But I was never convicted! Also, this was when I was 11 or 12 years old.
My assumption is that if you aren't convicted of a felon, you should be fine. Correct me if I'm wrong.
@@stevencodeman 🙏 it was something stupid that me and my brother did when we were young.
You should be okay as long you weren't convicted.. and a bachelor's should be fine.
Hie, I just finished high-school but I am interested in Cybersecurity so I wanted to if it's wise to do Cybersecurity certification or I must have a Computer Science/ Technology background knowledge.......please assist
You could try looking for some internships. You’ll definitely want to get some certifications to back up your experience. Right out of high school might not be easy finding cyber jobs because most employers will want a few years of experience or a college degree to supplement the years of experience. So the internship helps get your time in and could even lead you to getting a better job after the internship at the same company.
Congratulations on completing high school! If you are in the United States, consider a cybersecurity apprenticeship as a way to gain experience as well as certifications.
Working on my Sec+ where should I go from there? I'm already in SOC. Graduated with degree in Cyber. I think I'm wanting to go more toward pen testing. SOC is ehhhh....
Cloud security is the way.. get yo Linux on too
@@phabeondominguez5971 thanks 😊
@@CrazyCat229 outta curiosity, what makes ya NOT like SOC? Cuz that's what everyone tryin to get into CyberSecurity is trying to get into?
@@phabeondominguez5971 I work the overnight shift. It’s a lot of sitting around doing a little work. Every company uses different programs so it’s very hard to keep up because they don’t give you training in their programs they expect you to just figure it out. A lot of companies use crappy programs that don’t work. It can be rather frustrating at times with a lot of these programs because it’s hard to tell if they are working correctly….
@@CrazyCat229 ahhh a managed SOC,.. say no more. Like I said before, start teaching yourself Linux and the world is yours, couple that with Cloud and yeah.. look up Microsoft Training Days, they offer a FREE 2 day course that also includes Free exam certification voucher, so you can take and get CERTIFIED in AZ-900 and SC-900 FOR FREE. Then tweak the resume, start applying and hello 6 figures... Make 2023 yo year and get that $$$
PEACE

Hey so I’m going to community college for cybersecurity and I’ve been doing a lot of research and I keep getting mixed reviews about it a lot of people I’ve seen said that getting a degree in it is kinda useless and won’t actually help you and instead they looking for people that already have experience so I’m confused on which route to go what do you think ?
Can you get in , without a degree ?
Yes you can. Its all based on what the employer requires. Some will take years of experience of a degree or vice versa. With some certifications they might even waive the time requirement.
Your profile says you're a cybersecurity enthusiast? Please share your linkedin so we know we're getting credible information from someone who actually works in the industry.
Good point...
6'th
dont buy into the whole you must be certified yadda yadda, very easy to get in to entry level jobs and work your way up to earning the big money
Correct you don’t need certifications for entry level jobs. However it looks better when your resume has it compared to someone else that’s brand new too and doesn’t have it. Also to make more money you most definitely are required to have a degree or more advanced certifications.
"I'm in"😂
Every movie with a “hacker” 😂🤣
Can you talk little bit slow? Great video.
Why talk so fast ?
Video is sped up.
You talk really fast.
Video is sped up.
You talk way too fast
Sandra -- slow down when your speaking; not a race. Let us gather our thoughts; for a bit.
Hey, I hope you can answer some of my several questions lol. Or maybe I can message you directly? I have thousands of questions haha
