I am 56 years old and live in Norway. My neighbour from Gambia who has been since 1994 who have received free charity, driving permits, education, etc. constantly talks about racism. Until I asked for some examples, he became mute and couldn't name anyone.

Yep when i moved into my neighborhood whites were fleeing in droves to the point now that the neighborhood is 90+ percent black...but my property value has doubled since I moved here and what do you know...the whites are trickling back. The least of my worries is what white people think. I care more about how my neighbors behave regardless of race.

Other non white minorities don't gripe like this. Latinos worked in fields, as recently as the 1970s. In the 80s, they started becoming mechanics, and now, most are.🚗 Some even own salvage areas, where people buy parts off of old cars

I live in NJ and I would see Godfrey from time to time in and around 42nd street in NYC from time to time. This man lives in one of the priciest sections of NYC (I believe the upper west side). I think a person sees racism when they may have a little racism in their hearts OR they are the type of person who likes to be a victim. Once when I was walking into a grocery store, there was a white woman walking ahead of me in my same direction and there was a black woman coming towards us in the opposite direction. The white woman adjusted her purse on her shoulder because it was slipping off and the black woman stopped me and said, “Did you see her grab her bag like I was going to steal it?” She saw racism where there was none and I think some people ( of every color, by the way) can be that way.

I was born in west Texas, growing up in 60s & early 70s we had some great black cowboys, I grew up in the oil fields, we had all races, the only thing black was the oil. Its hard hot dirty work and if your not pulling your weight your gone. In 75 I joined the ARMY to get out of it. Retired in 95 and things are completely different
For me, i would think adults should know how to behave when you are in a social setting like a coffee place. We all should know to use our inside voice, socialize, and enjoy coffee. We don't need to hear loud and outrageous behavior from anyone.

Another great convo, ladies! 👏🏽Re: intact predominantly black cities, suburban Detroit has them. That's the area where I live, and I refuse to be around any madness, so I can vouch for it. Southfield and the neighboring smaller town of Lathrup Village both have quiet neighborhoods with beautiful homes, plus the cost of living is very reasonable. The same goes for much of Oak Park, a very diverse town bordering Southfield with high concentrations of blacks and Orthodox Jews. It's also worth noting that Farmington Hills, another suburb neighboring Southfield, has become increasingly diverse over the years racially and is a great place to live. I have family that currently resides there and who've lived there over the past decade. They all love that town, which had a broad array of people, particularly whites of various ethnic backgrounds, including a solid Jewish community; Asians, many of them Indian; and a growing number of blacks. Also, despite its decades of troubles, there are major improvements taking place in my hometown of Detroit. There are also areas in the city that have held up very well over the years and are tourist attractions for their wonderful architecture. Picturesque, multi-million-dollar mansions are located in certain areas of Detroit by Eight Mile Road, the thoroughfare immortalized in the title of Eminem's film. They include Palmer Woods, probably the city's most affluent neighborhood, and what might be its main competition for that distinction, Sherwood Forest, which is right next door. The latter is just across from Detroit Golf Community, located by a pair of golf courses. Yes, there are golf courses in Detroit for those who don't know. 😃 Livernois Avenue has several successful black-owned businesses on a stretch serving as a border of Sherwood Forest. That business hub and the much-revitalized Downtown Detroit are often cited as examples of efforts to counter the city's urban decay, especially over the past couple decades. I don't doubt what you are saying about those neighborhoods in Detroit. We often look at the crime rates in the US per county. The fact that most of the crime is in predominately black neighborhoods is troubling. It speaks volumes. LOL but you sure did make a case for Detroit. Point taken.

I’m from the Atlanta area. We have a high percentage of black citizens. I think however that we are very well integrated in Atlanta. I’m white. 80% of my friends and colleagues are black. My neighborhood as well as all of the other safe neighborhoods are well-integrated. It’s not the color of skin, it’s the thought processes that bring us together in respect and it’s the thought processes that tear people apart.

It is frustrating to hear our people pushing the victim message all the time. I was a trouble maker when I was young. As long as I carried that victim mentality, I continued getting in trouble. It was not racism it was my behavior. Once I realized that and stopped looking for a problem things changed. I served over 21 years in prison. I have not had an issue getting work or education subsequent to getting out. When you teach young people that they are oppressed and can not be successful, they will believe that and act accordingly. We are our own enemy. We value the things that will destroy us. We are raising a culture of victims.
21 years, don’t know how you did it, I had to spend 24 hours in a holding cell with 30 guys and 24 beds, and I almost went crazy, the guys were all felons caught on possession of a gun but treated me well but being locked up, no freedom and just staring out the window was crazy. Ya know, I am a white lady and I don’t think about black people the way that dude thinks - I have never seen a group of black people and thought I want to cut in on them bc i don’t want them to be autonomous! I have, however, thought “I wonder what those girls are talking about, I would like to get to know them”. I’ve heard black people say white people try to “get in their business” and they’re annoying. It’s unbelievable bc it could NEVER go the other way. Frankly, I am tired of hearing all of this oppression junk - it’s just not true. We all have the same struggles in life!

On Saturday I went to a restaurant where three white men were playing popular songs from a few decades ago, and a large party of black folks came up near the band and started dancing with joy. They were having fun for about an hour. This was an uplifting experience for me, because the racial barriers were not evident. Everyone was just enjoying themselves and each other. This gives me hope.

First off I appreciate the work you ladies are doing. I’m a Vietnamese refugee who escaped from Vietnam in the late 80s and spent 3 years in a refugee camp. When I hear the black community or anybody talk about how oppressed they are and how it’s the white man’s fault I just laugh. These people haven’t seen anything nor do they know what real oppression and real police brutality looks like. Say the wrong thing in communist Vietnam or china or Cuba or N Korea, that might be the last thing you’ll ever say! The left in this country plagued the black community with Marxism back in the 60s with the civil rights movement and they used MLK as their spokesman to farther their agenda. Look up Thich Nhat Hanh a Vietnamese Buddhist monk who MLK nominated for the Nobel peace prize back in the days. These communist agents all work together no matter the race or ethnicity. As the Vietnam war was still happening in the 60s they protested against the south and saying how corrupt we were while showing support for the communist north as it was invading the south. All in the name of liberation and integration. Everything went down hill from then on. Also my best friend is black and I want the best for you guys. Black folks need to wake up and realize you have been played. Stop letting these liberals use you to stay in power. Victim hood is a hell of a drug. Start talking responsibility for your actions that’s the only way you and elevate. Take care and GOD bless.
I can tell these people have never had a real Black experience in America. I'm not from Chicago, I'm from a poor community in NY. No, we did not celebrate police harrassment, because the police would pass by the hot drug blocks where the known drug dealers were and come and disperse my friends and I sitting on a stoop on a quiet block where the crime level was comparitively low. We found it frustrating because we knew that the police knew who needed to be dispersed and they wouldn't do it. I can imagine my brothers and sisters in Chicago going through the same thing. We didnt celebrate it because we knew it was wrong. Here we are all young men with ages ranging from 13 to 16, nobody around us, we weren't drinking, smoking, playing loud music etc. Meanwhile, some of our classmates had heavy foot traffic where they were and they were drinking, smoking, playing loud music and talking loud. Right around the corner. We knew it. The police knew it. We knew the police knew it. So, no we didn't think it was OK. We knew the police were ignoring the problem and harrassing the good kids. People like these 2 women would see them harrass us and think they were doing their jobs. We knew they weren't. I fully understand why he was frustrated by being harrassed for being in a group of 5 or more good kids while the drug dealers were still allowed to do as they wished.
I was delivering furniture to a complex an older Italian man came out of nowhere being very rude saying I dont live there and to leave. I was very stern when I corrected him saying im dropping off furniture to a resident that lives here.! If he had waited a minute he would've known that and it is common to deliver furniture where you dont live.
I have so much respect for Godfrey because he's incredibly intelligent, talented, wellspoken, and successful, so it's a shame he can't seem to ever drop the victim narrative when he has been more well off than the average person for a large portion of his life.

prominent wealthy black people don't reinvest into black communities nearly enough. Once most of the ones that work their way up an out of the hoods/ghettos, they never look back! If half or more of the prominent wealthy black people would get together and reinvest into black communities there would be less hoods/ghettos, black on black crime would plummet, broken homes wouldn't be nearly as common place.

I don't know what's wrong with people nowadays. I grew up in a 2-family home mother, father, and myself. They taught me not to judge a person because of the way they look but to judge them because of their character. I've always kept that philosophy inside of me, and it's brought me a lot of good luck. Yeah, we had to hear about it all the time but we were all just classmates, teammates, friends and rivals. Kids are literally being taught racism all over again when my whole life was forced to be not racist and it worked, we were all just humans. Most black people in America do have a mix with white too. Just as many white people in America have some black in their heritage.

I live in NJ and I would see Godfrey from time to time in and around 42nd street in NYC from time to time. This man lives in one of the priciest sections of NYC (I believe the upper west side). I think a person sees racism when they may have a little racism in their hearts OR they are the type of person who likes to be a victim. Once when I was walking into a grocery store, there was a white woman walking ahead of me in my same direction and there was a black woman coming towards us in the opposite direction. The white woman adjusted her purse on her shoulder because it was slipping off and the black woman stopped me and said, “Did you see her grab her bag like I was going to steal it?” She saw racism where there was none and I think some people ( of every color, by the way) can be that way.

I was born in west Texas, growing up in 60s & early 70s we had some great black cowboys, I grew up in the oil fields, we had all races, the only thing black was the oil. Its hard hot dirty work and if your not pulling your weight your gone. In 75 I joined the ARMY to get out of it. Retired in 95 and things are completely different
For me, i would think adults should know how to behave when you are in a social setting like a coffee place. We all should know to use our inside voice, socialize, and enjoy coffee. We don't need to hear loud and outrageous behavior from anyone.

Another great convo, ladies! 👏🏽Re: intact predominantly black cities, suburban Detroit has them. That's the area where I live, and I refuse to be around any madness, so I can vouch for it. Southfield and the neighboring smaller town of Lathrup Village both have quiet neighborhoods with beautiful homes, plus the cost of living is very reasonable. The same goes for much of Oak Park, a very diverse town bordering Southfield with high concentrations of blacks and Orthodox Jews.
It's also worth noting that Farmington Hills, another suburb neighboring Southfield, has become increasingly diverse over the years racially and is a great place to live. I have family that currently resides there and who've lived there over the past decade. They all love that town, which had a broad array of people, particularly whites of various ethnic backgrounds, including a solid Jewish community; Asians, many of them Indian; and a growing number of blacks.
Also, despite its decades of troubles, there are major improvements taking place in my hometown of Detroit. There are also areas in the city that have held up very well over the years and are tourist attractions for their wonderful architecture. Picturesque, multi-million-dollar mansions are located in certain areas of Detroit by Eight Mile Road, the thoroughfare immortalized in the title of Eminem's film. They include Palmer Woods, probably the city's most affluent neighborhood, and what might be its main competition for that distinction, Sherwood Forest, which is right next door. The latter is just across from Detroit Golf Community, located by a pair of golf courses. Yes, there are golf courses in Detroit for those who don't know. 😃
Livernois Avenue has several successful black-owned businesses on a stretch serving as a border of Sherwood Forest. Those blocks are known as the Avenue of Fashion, which has not only clothing stores but also much-loved restaurants and other enterprises. That business hub and the much-revitalized Downtown Detroit are often cited as examples of efforts to counter the city's urban decay, especially over the past couple decades.
In other parts of Detroit, there are similarly upscale neighborhoods such as Rosedale Park and its more pristine neighbor North Rosedale Park. There are others, but those are the main ones that come to mind. All of the aforementioned areas have been home to blacks ranging from upper middle class to wealthy for decades.
It's not lost on me that this straight-up sounds like an ad for Detroit-area tourism, but that wasn't my intention. 😆 I just wanted to let it be known that here we have no less than hundreds of thousands of law-abiding blacks who maintain thriving communities.
I don't doubt what you are saying about those neighborhoods in Detroit. We often look at the crime rates in the US per county. The fact that most of the crime is in predominately black neighborhoods is troubling. It speaks volumes. LOL but you sure did make a case for Detroit. Point taken.

I’m from the Atlanta area. We have a high percentage of black citizens. I think however that we are very well integrated in Atlanta. I’m white. 80% of my friends and colleagues are black. My neighborhood as well as all of the other safe neighborhoods are well-integrated. It’s not the color of skin, it’s the thought processes that bring us together in respect and it’s the thought processes that tear people apart.

It is frustrating to hear our people pushing the victim message all the time. I was a trouble maker when I was young. As long as I carried that victim mentality, I continued getting in trouble. It was not racism it was my behavior. Once I realized that and stopped looking for a problem things changed. I served over 21 years in prison. I have not had an issue getting work or education subsequent to getting out. When you teach young people that they are oppressed and can not be successful, they will believe that and act accordingly. We are our own enemy. We value the things that will destroy us. We are raising a culture of victims.
21 years, don’t know how you did it, I had to spend 24 hours in a holding cell with 30 guys and 24 beds, and I almost went crazy, the guys were all felons caught on possession of a gun but treated me well but being locked up, no freedom and just staring out the window was crazy. Ya know, I am a white lady and I don’t think about black people the way that dude thinks - I have never seen a group of black people and thought I want to cut in on them bc i don’t want them to be autonomous! I have, however, thought “I wonder what those girls are talking about, I would like to get to know them”. I’ve heard black people say white people try to “get in their business” and they’re annoying. It’s unbelievable bc it could NEVER go the other way.

On Saturday I went to a restaurant where three white men were playing popular songs from a few decades ago, and a large party of black folks came up near the band and started dancing with joy. They were having fun for about an hour. This was an uplifting experience for me, because the racial barriers were not evident. Everyone was just enjoying themselves and each other. This gives me hope.

First off I appreciate the work you ladies are doing. I’m a Vietnamese refugee who escaped from Vietnam in the late 80s and spent 3 years in a refugee camp. When I hear the black community or anybody talk about how oppressed they are and how it’s the white man’s fault I just laugh. These people haven’t seen anything nor do they know what real oppression and real police brutality looks like. Say the wrong thing in communist Vietnam or china or Cuba or N Korea, that might be the last thing you’ll ever say! The left in this country plagued the black community with Marxism back in the 60s with the civil rights movement and they used MLK as their spokesman to farther their agenda. Look up Thich Nhat Hanh a Vietnamese Buddhist monk who MLK nominated for the Nobel peace prize back in the days. These communist agents all work together no matter the race or ethnicity. As the Vietnam war was still happening in the 60s they protested against the south and saying how corrupt we were while showing support for the communist north as it was invading the south. All in the name of liberation and integration. Everything went down hill from then on. Also my best friend is black and I want the best for you guys. Black folks need to wake up and realize you have been played. Stop letting these liberals use you to stay in power. Victim hood is a hell of a drug. I lived in Atlanta. No one I talked to was from there they all came from somewhere else. Except Rockmart which is multi generational.
I can tell these people have never had a real Black experience in America. I'm not from Chicago, I'm from a poor community in NY. No, we did not celebrate police harrassment, because the police would pass by the hot drug blocks where the known drug dealers were and come and disperse my friends and I sitting on a stoop on a quiet block where the crime level was comparitively low. We found it frustrating because we knew that the police knew who needed to be dispersed and they wouldn't do it.
I can imagine my brothers and sisters in Chicago going through the same thing. We didnt celebrate it because we knew it was wrong. Here we are all young men with ages ranging from 13 to 16, nobody around us, we weren't drinking, smoking, playing loud music etc. Meanwhile, some of our classmates had heavy foot traffic where they were and they were drinking, smoking, playing loud music and talking loud. Right around the corner. We knew it. The police knew it. We knew the police knew it. So, no we didn't think it was OK. We knew the police were ignoring the problem and harrassing the good kids.
People like these 2 women would see them harrass us and think they were doing their jobs. We knew they weren't. I fully understand why he was frustrated by being harrassed for being in a group of 5 or more good kids while the drug dealers were still allowed to do as they wished.
I was delivering furniture to a complex an older Italian man came out of nowhere being very rude saying I dont live there and to leave. I was very stern when I corrected him saying im dropping off furniture to a resident that lives here.! If he had waited a minute he would've known that and it is common to deliver furniture where you dont live.
But according to our people whose looking to score brownie points with others those incidents don't exist

I don't know what's wrong with people nowadays. I grew up in a 2-family home mother, father, and myself. They taught me not to judge a person because of the way they look but to judge them because of their character. I've always kept that philosophy inside of me, and it's brought me a lot of good luck. I learned to communicate with many different nationalities. Let's just get along. It doesn't matter whether you're black white green yellow. even if you come from Mars, it doesn't really matter. Learn to care about one another. Even my own kind, there are good and bad.

Thank you ladies for doing this. I know in my heart of hearts that all of america isnt falling under this spell. I know gosh darn well my whole first 30 years wasnt some fairy tale. Yeah, we had to hear about it all the time but we were all just classmates, teammates, friends and rivals. Kids are literally being taught racism all over again when my whole life was forced to be not racist and it worked, we were all just humans. Im afraid that all of this isnt to save black people from white racism, its to re-ignite the old prejudices and hatreds of our grandparents so that they can point and say "SEEEEEE" now lets elimate the real global minority...whites, im 40 now for generational context.
