    Very important move from Leica, this certificate will make pictures more valuable

      For journalist. My first impressions after watching 1 other vid before this was more of a security feature, like something Apple has in their iphones. Oh well. Still might help one prove it is their photo if a copyright infringement occurs. Nice they added more internal storage & the top engraving. Would like a red dot.

    I’m not sure of the value when the credentials can be removed or you can export the image without the manifest. Would have been great to have it embedded in such a way that if the original artist chose, the information is hardcoded into the image file.

      You are missing the point. It acts as a proof that the image is authentic. There is no point to turning a verified image into an unverified image.
      It has nothing to do with copyright protection - this is the very first fact the video mentions.

    Nice work on the credentials. Now we just need some form of theft protection. But still, I would assume this credentialing can be used to trace a stolen camera.

      Couldn't the thief not just turn the feature off, as it is now? And believe me, there will be a lot of hackers that will find a way to just remove the signing.... But let's see in the future. Nice that Leica tries to protect our work

    Why can't this be added through software update on M11 and M11m (and others)?

      It could be, but then you wouldn’t but another camera for 20k

    • @JJ_Photo

      @@k__k___ It would be expensive, since the certification requires a new physical chipset.

    • @RegrinderAlert

      @@k__k___ It cannot be added in software. You require a tamper-proof hardware-based cryptographic module to securely store the private key required for signing the images.

    Easily bypassed! Sad. The meda data gets lost in copies..

    • @RegrinderAlert
      @RegrinderAlert 3 месяца назад

      It's not copyright protection.
      It provides authenticity. It allows you to prove a picture is real. This cannot be bypassed.

    Hi Nick, I got my M11P in December. Then i went to New Zealand for holiday with my family. I had problem. After every 2-3 shots the camera froze. I had to take out the battery and re-insert. The same problem occurred. After 2-3 shots again froze. Disappointed and frustrated. I reported to Saul Frank of Camera Electronic from whom I bought the camera. Upon return to Perth Saul sent the camera to Melbourne. Tested and discovered firmware is up to date and is working.
    Then I was told that i need to format the SD card before using it in M11P.
    I have used M9/10 and Q and never had problem with my SD card without formatting.
    If M11P requires SD card to be formatted then in fairness to consumers Leica has to notify buyers of M11P.
    Saul Frank is very kind to give me new SD card as compensation of my disappointment. I truly appreciate Saul’s care to his customers.

      The Content Credentials technology ensures the authenticity of the image using special hardware in the camera. It includes a special chipset for storing digital certificates from the German Federal Printing Office, which has so far only been installed in the new Leica M11-P.

    Nobody wants black + aluminium. It ages terribly. I skipped the 10-P because of this and now the 11-P.
    The removal of the baseplate was also a terrible idea.
    I’m your ideal M customer. 30k in lenses and three bodies, waiting to upgrade from my MP240 but refuse to downgrade in quality.

    • @JJ_Photo
      @JJ_Photo Год назад +2

      Not everyone are shooting Leica to show a red dot as a status symbol. I couldn't care less about the red dot. I am shooting Leica because of the handling, quality and the nice feeling of a well build camera. I have a M10P and love it, but not because it says Leica on the top plate. I even have black tape on my old beat up Q and my SL2-S. They are tools (for many of us), and not fashion wear. Go buy a Rolex then....

    • @ldmndz4652
      @ldmndz4652 Год назад

      @@JJ_Photo it was a joke....im just making the point that it has become a "luxury brand" wether you want to admit it or not..wether you choose to "cover" it up with black tape...We all know that Leica has a great and deserving reputation from all these previous years ago..and gain "legendary" status among "famous" photographers" early on especially with street and documentary photographers with their M6 film cameras..etc...but in my opinion..these "modern times"..Leica has sadly become a "luxury brand"..and in some sense a "status symbol"..yes when you reach their level you can "justify" their price points but a "M6 film camera" still costing like what 5K for a Film Camera!!.C'mon their is something wrong with that..haha Yes..its German made, quality, design..etc..we all get that and what they are producing..but in all honestly its obviously not an "everyman/persons' camera..Is Leica "afraid" of losing their "status"..so thats why they don't price their cameras within a reasonable and comparable price point as like Canons, Sony's top of the line model?..It would be awesome if everyone got a chance to expereince a "Leica Cameras"..at a reasonable price and be able to grab them any time like the other camera brands..yes we all pay a price point to get the "latest techs and specs" on our camera's..but you can't tell me a Leica's specs..AF, color rendering, low light, processors, sensors etc..is "worth more" than the next brands hardware and software? German "design" are worth more than "Japanese" ones?..haha ..they get some of their sensors from other brands..and yet they put their camera at a higher price point...haha Leica digital cameras should never be around 10K+..only cameras that justify those prices are like a Hasselblad medium format stuff, Phase One and other cameras like that where its reasonable and practical for high end studio and commercial photography etc..hence they cost more because of their intended purpose ..but not a "regular" mirrorless camera.. Leica seems overrated for what they are..
