Totally showing it off! So cute! Very simple pattern. I'm making one for my smaller rottie out of old blue jeans. Using your pattern. I already took measurements today. Will work on it next week. If it turns out I will share pictures. Thank you for an easy pattern.
You're very observant homebodyfl! For the greyhounds I went to Goodwill and bought some turtleneck, long sleeve shirts (probably medium size), then I cut a 'V' out of the front and made a seam, this helped the shirt fit the greyhound better. Greyhounds have almost no body fat so the shirt was added for warmth on cold days, it's separate from the vest. Good question!
I am starting from scratch! I don't even know how to use a sewing machine but I am going to get one very soon and make a coat or sweater! Plus, I can then repair all the clothes that need fixin. I like your video. You are a great teacher! Thanks!
you are great. thank you so much, your instructions are very clear and easy to follow. I was starting to get frustrated as all the videos I watched very unclear or too fast. now I can definitely get my dogs ready for winter.
Thank you so very much. I have sewn them in the past and often had difficulty fitting accurately. I used muslim which is very cheap to make the pattern as well. Your video was so informative yet easy to follow. Will view your other videos as I love to sew.
You have Dog Showers???! I want to live in your neighborhood :) Thank you for the clear instructions. I plan to make custom dog coats for the holidays for our furry-family members.
I made mine today wow! It didnt take that long. I am not normally a sewer, my prefrence is usually crocheting. However, this was a fun easy project that both my lil girl and I seem to enjoy :) She modeled it so good for me from making the pattern to the final showoff :) Thank you soo very much. I hope you dont mind but I am linking this to my facebook to share with others :) I was going to share the link of the picture, but wont let me, durn
Excellent video! I love that you made something for a larger dog. Most dog sewing videos are for foo-foo dogs, which I have nothing against the size of the dog, the problem is that the clothes are small and seeing the details and measurements are more difficult because they're so tiny. One question though: Did you change your needle or stitch length or anything for sewing over the nylon straps? I'm deadly afraid of nylon straps, but I need to make something with them and you're the perfect person I need to ask that about. You have a Brother like mine, so that makes your video even more helpful. Oh and ignore the ugly comments. If they think they could do it better, let's see them try. :)
I love paper patterns . I make them ,adjust them, approve them ,and then I put on my info and then cover the whole thing with clear packing tape and I then have a forever pattern.
Thank you so much for this video I’m going to make this for my service dog he needs a vest but most of them are like $30 or even $80 and I’m young and my mom just doesn’t have it right now and I need to make one so I can take him to school and other public places so people won’t try to pet him or something like that so I’m going to make the vest and buy a couple of service dog please do not pet I’m working patches and see them on the vest I made by using this diy so thank you so much I couldn’t find a way to add pockets and stuff so thank much love keep the good work up this made my day ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for the great video. I have been trying to find a pattern to make a vest for our puppy who is in training to become a service dog. We have a commercially made harness that we have used on other dogs but she is too small for it and it covers her from neck to tail. This will allow me to make a few vests for her while she grows into the adult sized one. Thank you again!
a trick I saw on a different video with some double-sided tape was the cut at a 45 degree angle I don't know if that would work for the material you are using but thought it might help. Love the video thank you sistar for all your help! 💚💚💚💚 Namaste
At 0:36, you show a greyhound that has sleeves for the front legs. How did you sew that one? I have a black mouth cur that basically has a pittie body. He has shirt hair and gets cold easily. I want to cover him as much as possible to keep him warm.
Hi i live in the uk and have been searching for coats for my two dogs a black lab and a bullmastiff and i do not like whats on the market .Yours are excellant !!!!! i am going to search for fabric now and then SEW ..Thank you for your video
Nice video,Thank you for sharing.I am making some,For our local SPCA,That say adopt me.I am looking on how to make a leather one, more of a harness type.Any ideas?
what a great video!! do you happen to have a video of the jacket you made for your greyhound? I have a greyhound mix and its so difficult to get my guy warm.
I have been making coats for dog's and sending them to rescue homes. Every dog deserves a warm coat. I do use three layers I put wedding between the layers I also put fabric belly straps so I can make them wider for more comfort.
The Labrador Retriever has three coat color designations assigned by the AKC. Yellow, Chocolate and Black. There are no Golden Labrador Retriever unless he is mix, then he should be stated as a mix.
I have a great dane and I don't have the pattern to make her clothe and don't know how to get one. How much would you charge for making dog vest and a pattern with it? Please get back to me when you can
Excellent and detailed tutorial.. just two suggestions from me: I'd consider fusible interfacing possibly something quite heavy and sturdy where the fasteners/straps are sewn on.. and secondly.. gum? Really? I had to turn the sound down to try and ignore the chomping.. yuck! Maybe just chew between recording? Tee hee! Xxx
People tend to be afraid of my staffy when we go on walks because he looks so intimidating, but he is such a dopey, friendly, happy guy. Thank you for sharing such an easy and clever way to make him look less threatening :)
@bestgameplayer01 I suggest you find or buy a coat that already fits your dog and use it to trace a template on a piece of paper and then you can use that as a guideline for all your future projects! I'm assuming your beagle is an adult, so he shouldn't change size too much over time. This will cut out the measuring step almost completely!
the greyhound has leggins in your video, is that part of the vest of separate. trying to make a dog pirate costume. thought the leggins could be made in to boots and pants. thanks
FYI, I take a hot glue gun and hot glue it down first so I can keep it stable until I sew it in place. It really helps. I found pinning it allowed for shifting during the sewing process.
Since we got our new rat terrier puppy we've found out how dangerous it is to be a dog, so we need to put something on him to make him more visible. He's very energetic and we never know where he may go. Some fluorescent orange shits would be a good thing for him to have.
Terrific video, thanks. It’s mid-summer here. Our dogs were clipped yesterday, today is the coldest we’ve had in months! Your video will make our boys very happy 😀
great design and instruction. Max looks handsome in his coat!
I love that you showed the patterning process as well as the sewing. Thank you for the fun video.
