I was born and have lived in Sweden for most of my life. Worked in restaurants, as a barista and bartender, and also been on coffe courses, learning history, how to do it etc. This "coffe cheese" thing must be something they sell at one obscure cafe in some small town in Finland, because I've never heard of it, ever. Looks like a tiktok video that fooled you to believe it's some Swedish or Finnish tradition, which it aint.

Although south indian filter coffee is represented here, there's more to it.
The actual coffee is made in a south indian filter, it takss around 10 minutes to filter. Then we store it throughout the day to mix with milk and sugar, to drink. As explained in the video.
We have tandoori coffee, where they make coffee as above, then out a small clay cup in tandoor to heat it up, then pur yhe coffee back and forth into it. It bubbles nicely and takes in the flavours of clay cup.
We have kalladka coffee, where they make the decoction as above, and make layers in the cup with milk. Which forms a nice gradient.
    There's probably a lot more.
But the most common way coffee is made is the most terrible way I know.
Just pour 1 cup milk. 1 cup water, one spoon suagr. 1 spoon coffee powder (usually with 20% chicory)
Boil it together, strain witha tea strainer. And you have the terrible coffee which makes most indians hate coffee.

Never knew that "old school" Bosnian coffee is in fact Ethiopian coffee. Back in the day (some people still do btw) we also roasted raw beans (in a coffeebean roaster we call "šiš") and grind them (in a hand grinder called "mlin"). Only tiny difference is that we brew in it a pot called "džezva" and not a jebena. We also drink it from small handleless ceramic cups (we call them "fildžan) like the Ethiopians. Very interesting and eye-opening video! 👍

Just a heads up: the ground coffee beans are actually NOT filtered out,but instead left to sit at the bottom of the cup, so do NOT stir the coffee and have in mind that there is a "mudy" layer of ground coffee at the bottom of the cup that is supposed to stay there (I'm pretty sure you can eat it but I believe the entirety of Greece and Turkey would agree that you shouldn't :P )

Also: "cafezinho" is the diminutive of the word "café" that means "coffee". In Brazil we, very often, use diminutives to express affection for something.

In Italy there are hundreds of variety ...
We have espresso, cappuccino, macchiato, marocchino ecc....
Cappuccino is basically espresso with a lot of steamed milk. Macchiato is basically espresso with a little tiny bit of milk. Marocchino is basically espresso and Nutella, there are other many. You have also " caffè corretto " which means " correct coffee ". Is basically coffee with a strong alcohol inside, usually sambuca.

You know, I’m looking at this video kinda late but I have to say: The pronunciation in the video for the part about the coffee here in Brazil is really funny because we say it differently than you do! Some people like to be real salty and argue that in the video the lady said it wrong but I think “How else is she gonna pronounce it? She doesn’t speak Portuguese (I think) so that’s the best she can say it”
Also, our cafézinho is not a different kind of coffee per say. Sure, it uses the coffee beans we have here in Brazil but that’s about as much different from the other coffees it can get. It’s just good ol’ coffee with milk or water, take your pick! We say cafézinho for when we’re having a quick coffee, or a small cup of coffee, or a little bit of coffee.
But if you want to say coffee in Portuguese it’s just café.
I’m no coffee expert and I don’t mean to be a smartass, but I wanted to share! (I bet someone else has said something similar before so I’m just re-stating the facts at this point.)
And never forget to like coffee ☕️🥰. (And I don’t mean Starbucks !!!)

  • @friedrichwendellms_usp
    @friedrichwendellms_usp 2 года назад +1

In the case brazilian "cafezinho": it is just the diminutive form of the word "café" (coffee in portuguese; we often use diminutive to express affection for something or someone), and the quantity of sugar depends of the person. In Brazilian North East, there is also another technique which consists to effuse the coffee powder in a cloth strainer: it makes it taste really good, and is like my grandma used to do.

Well we sort of created our own version that we love at home. In the coffee maker add ground chicory and little bit of ground coffee(or per preference). Process thru hot water and set aside or keep warm. Then go to the stove top and add whole milk, a generous chunk of butter or ghee, and pinch of salt heated and stirred in saucepan. Take off burner as soon as it foams and rises up(miss it and it will overflow!). Set aside. Combine boiled milk and coffee mixtures well. Add heavy whipping cream if you'd like it richer. If you are a sweet tooth, add sweetened condensed milk and/or hazelnut creamer. It's a winner trust me. Also a great coffee alternative if you just leave out the ground coffee.
