I don't know, I actually like the "WOOOO!!!". It feels so sincere and conveys to the player that Sonic himself is having a blast. I do understand getting a bit jarring though... but I used a voice pack mod which doesn't come with the Unleashed Project, so you can play this mod with the Generations sounds instead. :)
When people speedrun an Unleashed level, it's the time that Generation's levels last. But when people speedrun Generation's level, they're the time that Forces levels are!

@@thelookingcat Colours did have quickstep, its just that is coded to be used on very specific parts of the levels, example, on act 1 you don't use the quickstep but at the beginning of act 3 is used But yeah, Colours does not have a good level design and starting off with the controller, the wiimote, if it was used with the pro controller there will be more logic to implement Sonic gameplay
That’s how Sonic Forces should’ve been. I don’t have a problem with Forces. I really enjoyed it. But my only problem with it was how really short the stages were and how Sonic doesn’t run as fast as he did in Unleashed. I’m hoping for the next Sonic game to have the speed of Unleashed, the physics of Generations, and some of the model idols used in Forces (when he leans left or right when grinding and his impatient skydiving idol when not moving). All having the same gameplay. I’m also hoping for other characters besides Sonic to become playable again

31 minutes? I'm starting to understand the different play styles of the Sonic games, if they only made these kinds of stages the games would be super short and not enough to justify buying it full price!
Well, the original Unleashed features extra stages as well as Eggmanland (which can take upwards of 50 minutes to complete on your first playthrough...). The thing is... boost gameplay for Sonic has always been costly when it comes to development for a couple of minutes worth of gameplay per stage. Why do you think barely any 3D platformer is as fast paced as Sonic. Even Defunct, a game I featured on this channel with the controversial title of "Sonic Team, take notes" has a lot of terrain to to its stages, probably more than any other 3D Sonic game... and you can complete that game in an hour... People always forget that developing a 3D Sonic game will always and I mean always... be more difficult to develop than any other 3D platformer. But when done right, it can be a joy to play if you're really into high speed gameplay. :) It's a shame that Sonic Forces failed to deliver pretty hard in that regard.
Hmm... maybe the key isn't to make multiple stages with a lot of land, but one stage with the biggest land you could make. Maybe an open world Sonic game would work for Boost gameplay? I mean, the biggest criticism of the Boost gameplay is that you can get through stages quickly, which would be really useful in getting from place to place in an open world environment like, say, Breath of the World for example. You'd have a huge canvas to travel through but more platformy stages once you reach places, or something I dunno.
That Sonic Utopia Demo took years to make... And it's a proof of concept with no actual real challenge, just a big sandbox of a stage for you to mess around.
It’s really great to see Unleashed without QTEs, but you know a small detail that I really miss? The speedometer after the checkpoint! It might seem trivial, but I think it really added to the crazy fast tone of the whole daytime levels. Just think at Savannah Citadel where the speedometer gradually showed the digits at the same pace of the music revealing the crazy speed while insanity and breathtaking vistas plus architectures were happening on screen, it all amounted to a unique personality that was what really hooked me back then and still hooks me! P.S.: this is not a criticism toward the absolutely amazing work of the modding team, but rather a consideration about how in Sonic Generations there was already a slightly toned down “boost” experience compared to what Unleashed offered, in my opinion.
I do miss all of the quicktime-jump pads that require the right combo. Alot of people hated them but they were one of my favourite aspects. Really hope they release a PC port, I'd love to start speedrunning my favourite stages again :)
Good work. Looks great. The only thing I would recommend changing is the magnetism of the sonic boom. He was a bigger ring magnetic in Sonic Unleashed over Sonic Generations (and every other game after).
I actually enjoyed Classic Sonic in Generations despite not being accurate in the physics department. The level design in those stages was really good. And I've played Unleashed just recently. I had some mild fun with the Werehog, definitely not as bad as people make it out to be.
"Classic" Sonic is not classic Sonic. Mania is much more true to the original. That being said, I don't think I can choose between "Classic" Sonic and Michael J Bluewolf (play on Teen Wolf)

For and 1.00 build, this looks impressive most of the stuff from Unleashed is here, only a couple of this here and there aren't, (like Chip, some camera angles, ect) that I'm pretty sure will be patched in but overall great work to whoever did this and whoever did the gameplay, you did good. :)
My only problem with unleashed is that the boost button was also the homing attack button. I can imagine playing it with generations controls is much better!
They should make a modern sonic game with this type of gameplay without any gimmicks like the werehog, the wisps, or classic sonic, only running fast with a lot of boost.
XDarknightX29 the problem is exactly this video's lenght. The boost gameplay costs too much to make, since Sonic goes too fast, the stages needs to be bigger than in any other Sonic game. Look at this video, every main stage of Sonic Unleashed only takes half an hour to beat.
In my opinion, Unleashed is the best Boost Sonic game! Colors is just a 2D Sonic game with really leniour 3D paths Generations ain’t original in the slightest Forces is just meh and short But that’s just my opinion
I found out after I made this video that there is a mod that removes the boost filter for the songs when boosting. Should've applied the mod in here. The music in Unleashed is too good to be muffled like this. :)
They made this project too much like unleashed, they shouldn't have used unleashed's boost sistem, generations boost is a little more limited and overall better
Carl Jaccarino I know, but that kind of boost sistem is why the people keep saying that modern sonic games are just boost to win. I know that boost to win will get you killed in most modern levels, but I feel like it would be better if they toned down the boost a little
Carl Jaccarino on other note, gens boost was one of the best iterations of the sistem. It wasn't as endless as unleashed or forces', but it wasn't as limited as color's (you could rarely use the boost in some levels)
Luchux yeah I agree with that too. the boost is a good playing style but too much of it (cough cough Sonic Forces) makes the game feel repetitive and boring. in my opinion they have to ditch the 2D sections completely and focus on more 3D platforming mixed in with some boost sections.
Carl Jaccarino somebody said in another sonic video, that the boost was like Tails' story in adventure 1. Fun to play, but unable to carry a game on it's own if it were to be the main style. They were right. If Sega gave us a sonic game that has both adventure and boost gameplay(more leaning to adventure) it would be perfect. Let's just hope that the heads of Sega open their eyes, fire most of the members of sonic team and hire fans that actually know what the fans want from a Sonic game. Basically Mania's same idea, minus the 2d and the remade stages.
I think we all can agree that Sonic Unleashed and generations is the Best game with Boost Mechanics, becouse they actually make you feel that you are REALLY fastest thing alive
I'll take fluidity over the illusion of a faster game if it means I can control Sonic better. But yeah, this applies to any racing games really. Playing at 60 FPS makes the game feel slower compared to playing at 30 FPS, but you control your car better the higher the framerate.
Finally someone supports me with the jason griffin performance in unleashed, is so incredible, Honestly this is my favorite "modern" sonic game, i love unleashed, And yeah i can tolerate the night stages

Wow, that Savanah level took you less than two minutes, but because of everything that goes on in a level it seemed like it was closer to 5 or 6. That's how you know you made good levels.

They should make a modern sonic game with this type of gameplay without any gimmicks like the werehog, the wisps, or classic sonic, only running fast with a lot of boost.
XDarknightX29 the problem is exactly this video's lenght. The boost gameplay costs too much to make, since Sonic goes too fast, the stages needs to be bigger than in any other Sonic game.
Look at this video, every main stage of Sonic Unleashed only takes half an hour to beat.

Mr.Poops 2D sections really help with making the gameplay more interesting (as long as it isn’t taking over)

I found out after I made this video that there is a mod that removes the boost filter for the songs when boosting.
Should've applied the mod in here. The music in Unleashed is too good to be muffled like this. :)

I have the game on Xbox, and I can honestly say this mod looks really, really cool.
They made this project too much like unleashed, they shouldn't have used unleashed's boost sistem, generations boost is a little more limited and overall better

Carl Jaccarino I know, but that kind of boost sistem is why the people keep saying that modern sonic games are just boost to win. I know that boost to win will get you killed in most modern levels, but I feel like it would be better if they toned down the boost a little
Carl Jaccarino on other note, gens boost was one of the best iterations of the sistem. It wasn't as endless as unleashed or forces', but it wasn't as limited as color's (you could rarely use the boost in some levels)
Luchux yeah I agree with that too. the boost is a good playing style but too much of it (cough cough Sonic Forces) makes the game feel repetitive and boring. in my opinion they have to ditch the 2D sections completely and focus on more 3D platforming mixed in with some boost sections.
Carl Jaccarino somebody said in another sonic video, that the boost was like Tails' story in adventure 1. Fun to play, but unable to carry a game on it's own if it were to be the main style. They were right. If Sega gave us a sonic game that has both adventure and boost gameplay(more leaning to adventure) it would be perfect. Let's just hope that the heads of Sega open their eyes, fire most of the members of sonic team and hire fans that actually know what the fans want from a Sonic game. Basically Mania's same idea, minus the 2d and the remade stages.
I think we all can agree that Sonic Unleashed and generations is the Best game with Boost Mechanics, becouse they actually make you feel that you are REALLY fastest thing alive
60fps takes away from the speed of the game...looks slower
I'll take fluidity over the illusion of a faster game if it means I can control Sonic better.
But yeah, this applies to any racing games really. Playing at 60 FPS makes the game feel slower compared to playing at 30 FPS, but you control your car better the higher the framerate.

Marius Urucu yeah ik you didnt i was just putting it out there and you can play sonic unleashed on pc if you get ps now but its a subscription thing. I used ps now for a month cause thats how long the subscription is after the 7 day trial
*@Rurouni* Isn't the PS version of the game more laggy than the Xbox 360 version, though? From what I've heard at least, but from experience, I get frame drops in both versions, ESPECIALLY on Jungle Joyride.

Wow, that Savanah level took you less than two minutes, but because of everything that goes on in a level it seemed like it was closer to 5 or 6. That's how you know you made good levels.
