Great video! I live just across the river opposite of where you stood at the war memorial. I walk to Mavis bank and the surrounding area often and sometimes with the dog if he feels up for it 😁Gillian is my neighbour, her dogs are great! Did you manage to walk around the Canal? or get up to the Doocot? There is no access to the Doocot anymore, though it can be viewed from a distance. Everything is in such a bad state of repair. I hope it can be rescued soon. At the war memorial, if you turn right and head up the road a few hundred yards, you will get through a gate that will take you on a beautiful walk through the Glen to Roslin Chapel. This walk takes you past Hewan wood where a bronze age settlement was found: it is known as a Maiden Castle, maybe a video for the future 👍👍😊😊 There is also the old De Quincy Cottage, again on the other side of the river from the memorial and on up the road. It was were Thomas De Quincey lived from 1840 until 1859. He famously wrote his autobiography "The confessions of an English Opium Eater" Honestly, this place has so much history, geology, historical architecture and historical literature. I think it is a wee hidden gem. It is great for wildlife too, with Otters being seen in the river recently. Thank you for showcasing it on your channel. I am now a subscriber!😊😊
@@jackiegrant3972 Thanks so much for watching and giving me suggestions, roslin Chapel and Glen is one I'd like to do, Gillian was a great help pointing me in the right direction and giving me some info, thanks for subscribing 👍
I knew you’d end up on the other side of the fence man 😂 cool building
Haha, glad I wasn't on the other side back in 1870, haha, thanks for watching and commenting 👍
