Could we get a full tour of the AAV someday? It's such an iconic vehicle at tis point especially among Marines. It'd be great if we could get a Chieftain (Inside the Hatch)-style inside and outside tour of one of these, even an older model. It is an amazing vehicle with a lot of unique features, and I for one would love a good tour of it.
the one in the video is known as a straight leg, doesn't have the Bradley suspension or powertrain. i'm assuming its still got the Silver 92 series Detroit Diesel v8, instead of the Cummins VTA903, but other than that theres no significant changes compared to the last variant of the AAV.
The armor is aluminum and only diverts 7.62mm rounds when equipped for EEK armor the AAV has to be launched to close to the shore exposing to ships to land based missiles. Unfortunately the days of beach assaults are over and the new era will be osprey launched assaults.
The retiring of the AAVP7 is long overdue, there was a lot of problems with the platform eventually not allowing it to do its job. The vehicle to the left of the AAV in the video is most likely the ACV which is the new vehicle that is adopting the tactics used with the AAV and adapted to the new USMC plan of attack. everything good comes eventually comes to an end. After being in AAVs in the 2000s I feel it should have been out of service after 2003. We all seemed to feel it was very dated (and that was awhile ago). They had been trying to replace it from decades. It was also an IED death trap, along with its other issues.
I was a marine from 1979 to 1983 my mos was 1833. So your looking at the LVT A1. I operated the LVT P7. Do your research Vietnam was the LVTP5. The LVT has been around way before 1972. So our motto is yat/yas - you ani’t track’s you ain’t shit. Also faithful.
I’m a grandson to a Marine and he was an 0331 Machine Gunner and he served more than 20 years in the Marines and he was stationed at Camp Lejeune and he fought in the Vietnam war and he never talked about the war and he finished as an E-9 (Master Gunnery Sergeant) and ever since I was little I’ve always wanted to be a Marine and he gave me his Purple Heart and he was shot three times one in his leg one his shoulder and one that hit his radio but my grandfather never talked about the Vietnam war so I never asked him about it and I have three reasons why I’ve always wanted to be a Marine 1 - because I saw all the marine corps commercials 2 - because I want to honor my grandfather as a Marine because he was a Marine himself for more than 20 years 3 - I want to fight for the fallen brothers and sisters that died in Kabul Afghanistan on August 26 2021 Marines Corps : Sgt Johanny Rosario Pichardo Marines Corps : Sgt Nicole Gee Marines Corps : Lance Corporal David Lee Espinoza Marines Corps : Lance Corporal Kareem M Nikoui Marines Corps : Lance Corporal Dylan R Merola Marines Corps : Lance Corporal Rylee J McCollum Marines Corps : Corporal Hunter Lopez Marines Corps : Corporal Daegan W Page Marines Corps : Humberto Sánchez Marines Corps : Staff Sgt David T Hoover Navy : Navy Corpsman Petty Officer 3rd class Maxton W Soviak Army : Staff Sgt Ryan C Knauss And I’m a cousin and brother in law to marines And I’m also a cousin and brother in law to marine’s like my brother in law was Radio communication same as my older cousins MOS Radio Communication and so I’m a grandson and brother in law to Marines and my grandfather fought in the Vietnam war and he was a Machine Gunner in the Marines he was stationed at Camp Lejeune than he was in Hawaii at K-Bay and Vietnam was the war my grandfather was shipped out too as well and really ever since I was little I’ve always wanted to be a Marine Oorah
You can see it from an overlook?? WTF Bro’, we put jets and tanks at the entrances to military bases (in public) for people to touch and climb on but we need to protect my AAV like it’s a Fabergé egg…miss me with that nonsense. I guess I’ll pass on going to your museum when I can just go to a local base where I don’t need to be hidden away on an overlook or forced to use VR instead of being able to actually touch anything 😂 what a joke
The exhibit should include a foot of water in the infantry area, with a lot of oil in that water, diesel smoke and everyone throwing up.
That feeling when the vehicle you served on is in the museum.

Actually, I’m a big fan of this amphibious assault vehicle! 1:02
I was crewcheif of A103 in Kaneohe bay, Hi!! I know it’s doubtful it’s the same vehicle but it’s still pretty cool to me
A-103 was my first AAV Vehicle was 2nd MAR DIV 2nd AAV BN
I remember when we had to extra clean that exact vehicle before turning them in to get the replacement RAM/RS variants.
I used to like hearing the well deck boss on the I/C say, "Launch-launch-launch.....launch LVTs wave one!"
This vehicle still looks pretty modern and if it still works then keep it in service

When are you going to display a Riverine Assault Craft?
He misspoke The AAV was new in 1972 but the one he talking about is 1992 he mentions desert storm.
This is what I did in the Corps for 10 years.... I feel old because it is in a musem now! HAHA.

3rd assault amphibian battalion they have not been retired. Where do you all get your info. 😉
Are there any possible LWS tanks?
This is what Australia needs for its new Canberra-class LHDs.
No More talk about what your going to do, We all want a FULL Tour of the vehicle Bow to Stern!!
why doesn't it have the support rollers in the suspension?
This one does not have the "Bradley" mods. But it DOES have the Bradley track assemblies.
@@RUBIZEN interesting, I always thought they just always had support rollers

This guy should stop smoking and see a pulmonologist, his breathing is labored

1 - because I saw all the marine corps commercials
2 - because I want to honor my grandfather as a Marine because he was a Marine himself for more than 20 years
3 - I want to fight for the fallen brothers and sisters that died in Kabul Afghanistan on August 26 2021

Too bad it killed 8 in San Diego🤔📉
Is this the exact same type vehicle that is still in use? They've not updated or upgraded?
they added suspension lol@@itzmethen
9 died in 2020.
But what killed the Marines and the Corpsman was the leadership. The AAV can’t kill people.
