  • Join dairy farmers Gordon and Kathy Michaels as they reflect on 51 years in the Wisconsin dairy business. This couple started small - milking just 40 cows on their 89 acre farm as newlyweds. Through determination and hard work, they grew their small operation into a 940 cow dairy with over 3,000 acres of owned and rented cropland.
Gordon and Kathy share about expanding their herd size over the years, constructing new barns and facilities, and developing a top-notch Holstein herd known for excellent milk quality. Kathy shares what drew her to dairy farming despite knowing little about cows. Together they have four kids who helped on the farm, but decided to pursue other careers, leading to the bittersweet decision to sell their successful multi-million dollar dairy operation.
After over half a century of dedication to their land and beloved cows, this farming family looks back with pride and gratitude on all they've accomplished through years of early mornings and hard work. They reflect on the memories made raising children on the farm, and hopes for the operation's future under new ownership.
