And this version of "m.l.h." just makes clear the reality of a person who feels alone on the inside, non-appreciated for what she/he does for others, and that is not able to find a better way out than drugs, or other kinds of addictions. Today the mother's little helper may be compulsive shopping, and although it cannot kill you or get your mind into a mush it can be alienating even more: substitute feelings with unanimated objects and shut the XXXX up, it basically means, having to buy and buy and buy some more to feel alive!
