I always knew that active noise cancellation can be added to any headphones with software just like virtual surround. It's strange that it took so long to come up with an app.
I may be wrong but I believe "active noise cancellation" refers to headphones that actively remove the sounds from around you, which cannot simply be added to any headphone with software. Active background noise cancellation is just software but that refers to sounds through the headset like your friends background noise or making your friends stop hearing your clicky ass keyboard.
@@ConLLee All ANC headphones use their built-in chipset to to process the noise sounds coming in though its microphones and produce the right sounds to cancel them out. My question is: why not make the PC do the processing and add ANC sounds to its output. If the processing for ANC cannot be performed on the CPU it should definitely be possible to integrate ANC processing in some high-end sound cards.

It might remove background noise, but isn't the point of having a good microphone that you get good audio sent? Video is over 2 years old now. Anyone know if Krisp works any better now? Although it did a good job of removing the background noise, the speakers voice sounds all distorted, tinny and echoey.
Thanks. You can also use a boom mic like singers use to get the mic closer to your mouth. You won’t need as much gain and that will help a lot with background noise. The problem with noise reduction is it’s not really listening for human voices as much as it’s listening to audio correlation. The more consistent a sound is the better it is at removing it. It should work well on things like fan noise but it’s less effective on things that change in amplitude. I work with noise cancelling headsets and they do a fantastic job of taking out the background noise of a car but if you pick up a water bottle and crinkle it a bit it comes right through, sometimes louder than your voice.
No, you select your external mic in Krisp application, it picks up the signal from the real device, process it and then your communication application(like Skype, Slack, Hangouts, etc.) picks the processed signal from the Krisp microphone (which is virtual one).
You select Krisp as the microphone, then in the Krisp app, you select the external microphone, so you're essentially porting it through Krisp, but it's actually using the external microphone
It works only if the speaker is loud and dominant. Otherwise it can mix up human voices. I have had complaints from the other end saying my voice is not clear

Hi Justin. Great video emphasising the benefits of the software and you have been honest in advising on the pro's and cons. It has to be said the resultant audio is a bit robotic like with quality lost which is a shame. Im sure that it has its applications as you have described. Is this the best that the industry can offer at the moment? are there any other software apps that can help filter whilst live videoing or filming? A game changer would be being able to video using external unidirectional microphones like the Rode Video micro and have live filtering if needed, rather than have to apply filters post production. I might be asking for utopia, but thought i would ask. Thanks for the video Justin.
Using a microphone that only picks up the audio a small distance from the microphone (removing most other noise) would be ideal, or some audio recorders and mixers have controls that can help remove noise a little. keep in mind this was to show how this works in really worst case places, getting away from some of these types of locations would improve what the app does a lot
@@PrimalVideo Yeah I get you Justin. The premise of the video is absolutely understood.
