This is such a great exploration. I know I've said it before, but I just can't believe how fast a place goes into decay. You said that this place was vacant in 2013 so it really isn't that old, but the level is decay is unbelievable. Your videos are always awesome and I really appreciate that you do the history on these places. Whoever owns this, I really hope they will keep the old machinery. It's so cool. Thanks so much once again for the awesome tour :o) Stay safe guys
I watch you guys almost exclusively. I LOVE exploration, especially in older dark places. But I find that almost anytime I try to branch out to other channels, I find a lot of click bait, set up scenes, or just straight up lies. I never feel that way when watching your explorations and I love it. You guys accept when a place doesn’t have as crazy of a backstory and explore anyways. And when a place does have a wild background, you guys give the story and show it on screen immaculately. I appreciate both sides, the quaint left behind home from another era and the harsh places abandoned to rot. Great job once again, love your videos!
The soft pastel colors were soothing and supposedly had a calming effect on the prisoners. I have heard before about prison cells being paint in soft pinks and blues.
@no longer human it causes rage with female prisoners too. It's just like how mint green is supposed to be calming, but you don't want to paint your entire house mint green because then it isn't calming anymore. It would be chaotic
I think it's a good idea. Sometimes people have to remember that. Jail and prison are two different things. You can't wind up in there for the smallest of reasons. And you wouldn't want something driving completely bonkers. For the time you're in new. I've made it 64 years without going. I'd like to make it through the rest of my life withoutgoing
@@jenniekennedy9178 I think that, because I've heard a lot about prison culture, many of the male inmates have this hypermasculine culture on the inside that only they truly understand, they tend to be set off by anything that they feel impedes their masculinity, including the color pink. I may be wrong, but it sounds right.
I haven't been in a State Pen, but I was in our local jail/prison, and I had been in solitary twice (the Hole). That shower was almost dead-on to the shower I had to use while in the Hole. I love the colors of some of these rooms...so pretty almost! Our prison was just white walls...very boring. I was there for a whole year while going through the court process. I got time served and was released one year to the day of my arrest. Prison/jail is NOT fun people...so THINK before you allow yourself to do something stupid. The more you know. :) Great vid!
Jail and prison are not synonymous. You didn’t go to your local jail/prison - you went to your local jail. Big difference from prison. Jail is for less than a year, prison is for anything more than a year. By law you can only be held for a year without trial unless you pose some risk to yourself or the community in which case you’ll likely end up in a medical unit.
This place is privately owned by Big House Produce but they offer public tours. Check out their social media. I love this property. I’ve been several times and every time I find something new. 💚
The worst thing is when you go into a big pod like that no one sleeps. If one cell is sleeping there's another twenty wide awake and no one has a filter or knows how to whisper. It's a consistent yell from every inmate. Ok, it may be not the worst thing😂
Hello yall. The outlines on the wall in the kitchen were of stir paddles for stirring food that was being cooked in big kettles, and the others were not pizza cutters, they were different-sized scopes, all food was weighed out and proportioned to the exact per person. Yes, I worked in a few prison kitchens.
What an incredible location to explore. We really like the way you appreciate the beauty and history of these places. Super jealous, we would love the opportunity to investigate such a large property with so many abandoned buildings. Thanks for sharing.
A prison that doesnt look like it was merely a for profit inmate storage facility - refreshing! Granted, it was medium security, but still. I believe in the effort of resocialization over mere punishment and storage of criminals and a facility that doesnt keep inmates locked up like animals increases the chance of success. 19:53 - "Attention inmate! Say your prayer and repent your sins! Thank you for your cooperation." 🤭
Why can't places like this be cleaned up and repaired for the homeless..a place where they can live and work. Maybe develop a work skill , schooling and cafe cooking, there is so much these empty places to be us ed t help people get back on their feet
Lol not pizza cutters 😂 those are scoops. for potatoes, beans, cookie dough, or anything really. That’s what the side lever was for on them. To scoop and then release the food onto the tray.
A very interesting phenomenon of property reuse. There is so much talk about ecology, and here we have a pretty good example of how buildings can be reused. I absolutely don't mind, as long as the characteristic elements are preserved. An interesting, unpopular situation. It's nice to hear that a beautiful building will not fall into total ruin.
Never seen guys so excited to be on the inside of a prison 😅 . Very awesome exploration!! This was a massive compound. Blessings, from a fellow explorer from South Africa 🇿🇦
How the door sign makers talked the owners into making em,lol. "For real! I KNOW I can make them signs cheaper than what that company wants to charge"😂
awesome job , looks like “orange is the new black” cubicles,I would feel strange being in there, Because I've never been in prison before, it's even weird looking at it On this video. Thinking people Stuck in here that would never go near that building again. again great job guys
Incredible explore so cool to see somewhere reused and reused it’s a shame we don’t do this now and places like this are left to decay but I’m so glad someone is going to use it again.
hey guys first timer checking out your channel this was so cool that wow i really felt like i was there with you on this trip nice job btw that was a really nice church (too bad you didn't get a shot from the stage)
i dont know if it still stands or if there is something in its place but if u get a chance check out the old chillicothe prison in missouri or vandalia
That place has possibilities of being restored and cleaned up..maybe for a shelter or something...still has foundation and all...must be the government or city that don't want to deal with the financial burdens..sad.
Haha, a 'medical marijuana' plant called 'Big House Produce'! Makes you wonder how many poor saps were imprisoned on marijuana charges behind those wall??
Lol at 9:58 I don’t think those are pizza cutters I’m pretty sure they are those ice cream scooper things but to serve the food with 🤣 correct me if I’m wrong
Those were not shovels and pizza cutters lol.. those were mixing paddles and portion servers. Kinda like an ice cream scoop. Just an FYI for the future 👍
Also, those were not pizza cutters, they were scoops. Think ice cream scoop with the lever you push to get the scoop to drop out. Probably used to serve all kinds of food like mashed potatoes.
So the current owners basically made it into a tourist attraction, interesting (10 bucks per hour, or work on a "volunteer day" for few hours in exchange for probably the same hour you've worked for free?). Pretty ingenious since the buildings are just already standing there, and you can charge money to the curious explorers without doing anything extra and keeps away vandals since it's a fully active property.

There's a large amount of buildings on that property. Good explore. Thanks

The colors in the prison are meant to make you calm.

The building itself is pretty though. It looks like a cottage style castle!
It's hard to imagine only after eight years there would be so much decay.

I think the purple and pink colouring may be so it's calming on the prisoners.
