  • In my previous videos on Noun Complements, I presented them in sort of a "casual" way, tossing out ideas here and there. I suggested that there were several different perspectives that could be taken when considering or classifying Noun Complements. In this video, I address the topic slightly more seriously, with a focus on "the final product." I present my full selection of Noun Complements; and I present them as they might appear as published, in an actual textbook.
ERROR ALERT: At 12:24, I SHOULD have said "Proper NAME," NOT "Proper Noun"--even though the Proper Name IS actually a Proper Noun.
Here are some key points to keep in mind:
*A Proper Name qualifies as a Proper Noun.
*A Name Complement is a Proper Name, Mutable Noun, or Adjective that complements a Proper Name.
*A Name Complement is always a Noun Complement because a Proper NAME is always a Proper Noun.
*A Name itself CAN indeed be a Complement, but the Name itself is NOT always a Name Complement. That is, a Name can complement a NON-name word.
