+ghamay2011 There are a couple of things you can change, one would be the subdivs on your lights. Then we also have the color threshold in the Vray settings, lower mean better 0 longer render times. And also noise threshold.
Awesome Tutorial man!!! I followed all of your steps and i get a good result, but my teapot seens like a glass, to much reflected, and yours seens like a plastic. Do you know why its happening? Thanks
If it's like a glass then you have set the refraction to none white, set it to black. Maybe you just mean it has to much reflection, check the "fresnel reflection". You can also make the reflections blurry by playing with the "Refl. glossiness"
might be a stupid one but- how is it that raising the light subdivs shortens the render time,shouldnt be that the other way around,tried that,u r right, i just have no idea why anyway, thanks for the tutorial
It's because it's less work for the Image Sampler to clean up (depends on the settings/threshold ofc). Same gos for subdivision on your blurry reflection. There is a good thread about the Image sampler on chaosgroup's forum. You should also check Grants free tutorial were he talkes about this and more: www.grantwarwick.net/mastering-vraynew-page/

Great Video! you explain really well, I have a problem, when i hit render, the quality of the image is really low and very grainy, it also takes a long time to render, i have about 6gb of ram on my laptop, How are you able to render so quickly and with such good quality.
It's more about what CPU you have (speed and cores). Maybe you have your GI setup too high? If you are using Irradiance map, set the preset to low as a start. I beleve it's on high at default which means it will calculate the prepass 4 times. If its not the GI then change the subdivs for the glossy reflections and the lights. You also need to tweak the image sampler. I recommend you checking out Grants video about optimize vray: www.grantwarwick.net/mastering-vraynew-page/
This is from 2013 I believe 😆 Is it the backdrop plugin? If so, just create a L shape spline, chamfer the middle vertex and then add a extrude modifier on it. 👍
Too fast. Many short curt that I didn't know. Different UI, tons of unexplained things, etc. Unless if this video is for experienced users then I might be wrong.

I don't have the sRGB option in my rendering window, where else could I find this? Without it, the scene looks very dark with heavy shadows.

And I have 3ds max 2014 with vray 3.0 there is no such as vray material "softbox"
Just drop the syke file on Max...it's a script. It will appear on Standard Primitives.

How do I add a Vray material in the slate editor?
You just need to right click in the slate material editor and choose materials->v-ray->VrayMtl
I don't think that's the problem . . . when I went to the render setup and assigned a renderer Vray wasn't an option
Kelemen Szabó Vray is more of a plug in for 3dsMAX if you can't see it well i guess you don't have it installed :)
I thought Vray came with 3dsMax . . . thanks for the info!
