Ethan Bear was a player I wanted to see play for the Canucks, but he's a 3rd pairing defenceman on a NHL team, who can play higher in the lineup during emergencies (which was the entire season he played here). The Canucks can't continue to overpay for 3rd pairing defencemen and keep ignoring serious gaps on their second defensive pairing. Tanev is a fearless shotblocker and penalty killer. who can be on the top pairings in a defensive role and not look out of place. They should have never let him go. I never felt that Chatfield got a fair break in Vancouver and like a lot of prospects from that time developed better elsewhere, because Canucks prospect development was only good if you were a goalie or developing outside of their system (Sweden or US College systems).
If we’re just throwing names out there, how bout Luke Schenn? He knows the team, knows the coaches, knows the guys, knows the systems and the fans all like him. If Nashville is out of it by TDL, I can’t see why the Predators won’t trade him. But they’ll have to retain a bit on his 2.75 mil deal
HOLY crap am I lost or what?----Ethan Bear or Chris Tanev .....WHY either of them?.....I'd think many better D men in Abbotsford or NHL that can get than either of these 2
I am glad the Canucks are not offering Bear anything more than 1 mil a year... Remember he was expandable with the 'Canes, so he is, at best, a bottom-pairing d-man with the ability to fill in temporarily in a top-four role when another player is hurt. He is no better than Soucy and maybe even Myers and Juulsen. What the Canucks brass should decide right now is if they actually think this team can make some noises in the playoffs. To me, this team is still a few pieces, especially on the backend, away from being a true contender. If that is the assessment shared by management, give the young guys at Abby (McWard, Johansson, Hirose, Woo) at look at the 3RD/3LD spot and see what they are made of.
Ethan Bear isnt going to make or break a team, but he was quickly becoming a fan favorite in Vancouver. Hopefully where ever he ends up he gets an opportunity to play.
Im scared of edmonton! Its not even Christmas and they got to .500???? Would like to see another player added (top 6 or top D) in the new year after the christmas freeze
Not really a big deal honestly, when Soucy returns we look in much better shape. Friedman has been steady and reliable when in the lineup. The addition of Zadorov made this signing less of a must. Trading Myers would be > than signing Bear. Addition by subtraction. Bear is going to get more money than we can offer and good for him.
He does have much more good games than bad but those bad games are still really bad. I'd be fine if they resign him at the end of the season to only around $2 million a year.
Tanev would feel nice but I rarely find that the feel nice moves are the best moves. I say take the 1st pick, Podkolzin and go shopping and see what it can get. 10th overall and a 16-24th overall pick can look good to a few teams in bad spots. be the media rebuilding story they need. Think it would have most value in the east, mayb Columbus or Philly
Regardless of the “20 minutes” factor, I’d still like to see Myers gone. He just makes too many impulsive decisions when there are several other safer options available. Split his 20 minutes up among the other D-men for all I care. I see him as the weakest link… and by a fair margin compared to the 2nd weakest link.
Myers plays one good game and then everyone forgets how horribly he played the previous 5-6 games costing costing on average a goal per game. Sometimes 2
The problem isn’t Myers. It’s that they need a bona fide top 4 defenseman who can skate and defend. Like, I don’t know, Slavin. Hopefully Willander develops quickly. Myers is fine as a bottom pairing, but Mr Scout In Chief paid him to be a top 4 on a long term deal to save his job. That’s the problem. He’s not a top 4 and hasn’t been since he got here, and that $6 million means they couldn’t go out and find someone else without moving another contract, which wasn’t easy. It’s not Myers’ fault he’s not a $6 million hockey player. Blame the idiot who thought he was.
If only the Canucks had more cap space. Somehow getting Tanev would be nice. Would also be cool if they can somehow get Edler as the 7th/8th guy at league minimum to officially finalize his career.
No they didn't, Bear got hurt. Why would Canucks use up cap space to sign a hurt player? Also Bear is not that great, I am glad Canucks are not getting him.
You’d think Ethan Bear was the second coming of Bobby Orr with all the speculation surrounding his return and which team he’s gonna play for.
Ok fine, thanks for the update, but what is the latest on Tryamkin??!!!
He bailed on us. Rather we don't get him.
@@Conqueredcoit was a joke
Too funny. Zadorov is the latest lol. At least that's working out 🎉🎉🎉
That was tremendous.

It's a good sign. You never want to be in a bidding war with a 5D

Thank god.

Ive heard hanafin wants to go to Boston, but is it worth/possible going all in on him as a rental?
Thank god! 😅

So glad they didn't pick him up, he's a mentally and physically fragile player.
Good for Ethan is all I have to say. You snooze you lose.
Myers has been playing better this season yes, but when he makes a mistake it's a BIG one
Nope he's horrific and usually on the ice when cnaucks are scored, bad decisions with the puck, turnovers all the the time
Bear wouldn't have helped
How about Tyson Barrie?
Im scared of edmonton! Its not even Christmas and they got to .500???? Would like to see another player added (top 6 or top D) in the new year after the christmas freeze
We already knew they were out on him you don't pay 2 million plus for at most a number 5,6 or 7 defenseman
I was at the Carolina game and Chatfield played well. Bring him back
Fit the cap ....but end up being a healthy scratch
I wouldn’t be surprised if Washington signed Bear, then traded him to Vancouver, along with future considerations, for Kuzmenko.

If Canucks fans think Myers is a liability on the team, what other GM would be interested in trading for him at the deadline ?
It was a mistake not to qualify him last year
So......the Caps got the cap
This is what good cap management looks like, folks. Not throwing money at bottom 6 players.
Didn't we have Chatfield once?
Yep
Myers had actually played his best hockey of late

they're paying Myers about 6M too much
Hahahaha
GO GET THE BEST CONTRACT ETHAN!! You deserve it.
Bear has been a good fit . He hasn't fit in too well anywhere else.
I feel like Edmonton might be the spot for bear.
Anyone can replace Myers
Myers plays one good game and then everyone forgets how horribly he played the previous 5-6 games costing costing on average a goal per game. Sometimes 2
Hughes and Pettersson consistently cause a goal per game against us too. Broadcasters need to start holding those two accountable
for their blunders.
@glennhankins6927 the difference is hughes and petty make up for it by putting up points

olli juolevi 2.0. Thank god I’m sick of talking about this fucking guy
Tanev all the way Chatfield is bust

thats cause you treated him like crap thats why canucks are out
lol how? The Canucks didn't force him to go the world championship or cause him to get injured 😂
He’s not even good.. chill 😂
