Had a conversation with my husband yesterday evening and he asked the question, "Have you ever encountered God?" I said, "I don't know." In that response, it was clear that I hadn't. I mean, one would know if they've encountered God right? Think about Saul (Acts 9). As my husband prayed over me, he said that I had a "blockade" or a wall up in my relationship with God. I honestly never felt that way, as I truly felt that I trust and believe in God; He has shown me that I am Christian. His hand and presence in my life is undeniable. Well, this morning in my time of prayer and devotion, the Lord revealed to me that I do in fact have a wall up. Who would've thought that I am guarding a part of my heart from God? Not me. He revealed the area in which I believe in him the least - which is why I'm "struggling," "stagnant," or "not fully experiencing God" in the ways in which I desire to.
A couple of weeks ago, I was led to read the book of Job. As you may know, Job loses everything in Satan's attempt to prove that Job is in fact NOT blameless and righteous as Yahweh has so proudly proclaimed he is. In reading Job, I feared the Lord was trying to tell me that I would soon experience great loss. Not only did I encounter loss in reading the book of Job but also in many conversations, sermons, and verses thereafter. I panicked; afraid that I too would experience loss in my family, finances, and health. Before coming across this video, God also said these things to me this morning: "There's some unbelief in you still about who I am and what I can do in your life." He showed me that I don't believe that he is God when it comes to experiencing loss, trials, and tribulations. I believe that He can "do the impossible" and change circumstances to fit my desires and to make ME comfortable. However, I don't believe that he's a God that will take me through trials and tribulations for the building of my faith and character - for my betterment and for His glory - AND that He will be with me every step of the way. (I mean, my life is a testimony of His faithfulness and I STILL don't believe. Wow!)
The many prayers in which I've prayed haven't been prayers of faith and submission but of selfishness. (Hence, why they have not been answered and I'm over here thinking that God is just testing me in the area of patience. Silly girl!) Little did I know, Job would come to mind during my time of prayer. I MISSED THE POINT. Job isn't solely about his loss. It's about his faithfulness to Yahweh in the midst of his trials. Job still trusted and believed in God, even when his wife encouraged him to turn his back on God and when his friends in some many words said, "Well you must've done something wrong." Job lost EVERYTHING and he STILL put his faith in the Lord. Job's faithfulness to God didn't depend on the many blessings he received. The Lord revealed many things to me. He said to me, "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:21) "If anyone desires to come after Me, left him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?" (Luke 9:23-25)
God charged me with truly walking by faith and trusting Him with this area of my life. In order to do this, He called me to "take up my cross and walk." "Make God's goal my goal, despite the cost." In doing so, He will give me rest. "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you fill find rest for your souls." (Matthew 11:29) Lord, I want to experience You fully; all that You have to give me.
Forgive me for my doubt and unfaithfulness towards you O Lord. Today, I choose to take your yoke upon me and learn from You. Today, I choose to submit all my plans, desires, and all areas of my life to You. Thank you Lord that your mercies are new every morning and that your compassions fail not. You are a good good Father. I love you Lord and you are worthy of all the praise! Amen.

Father God I feel alone, I feel like I'm fighting this alone. Jesus show me that I'm not by myself, help me to believe that you are the Lord who says that I should not be dismayed, because you will uphold me with your righteous right hand. In Jesus name let me see you in everything, allow me the grace to have complete faith in you Jesus Amen.
Was in my devotional this morning talking to God about my Spiritual fomo (fear of missing out) and how the inability to trust him in certain areas of my life on the surface looks like defiance but underneath the true core is fear. I pray that we congratulate ourselves for the areas of our lives where we do trust God and spend our intimate time with God assessing and dissecting those areas that we hold hostage from God not out of defiance or rebellion, but out of fear. Asè and amen

This is so true. It’s unbelief in certain areas of your life which is why your not getting through this area. Lord i need a part 2 to this cause this was certainly a word for me and resonated so deep.

Title alone convicted me.
Hi new subscriber here! For me, growing up in a strict Penecostal household meant my view of God was completely skewed. I saw Him as this vengeful God who didn't allow for freedom of expression. And that's where I struggle the most. Being unable to express myself when I was younger is reason why I don't completely trust God. I didn't want become a Christian if it meant being stifled and forced to adhere to sexist/abusive doctrines of the Christian woman.

When it comes to lust especially, boundaries HAVE to be a thing. It's not been perfect for me, but ever since I put in place strict boundaries for myself, I'm doing way better. Faith is the first and foremost aspect of freedom, but we shouldn't put ourselves in the near occasion of sin. We're supposed to flee lust. Every other temptation, we can fight, but not lust. It's a long process, but freedom can be experienced with any area of sin!
This was pure Biblical wisdom! We’re not supposed to stand and fight lust. It is our faith in God and His word that supports our behavior to flee. Yet, I agree with you and the Perrys, that in other areas, avoidance doesn’t always equate to faith. Sometimes, standing in faith is all we can do.
@@vlaea2202 And, sometimes standing in that faith requires us to obey God even when it's hard. God had been prompting me to get a "dumb" phone for quite a long while. I finally, a few months ago, obeyed what He led me to do. And, now I don't take my laptop in my room. I've seen so much improvement since doing those things. As Jesus says, we're supposed to cut off the thing causing us to sin. My phone was that thing. Our relationship with God is so individual, and we can listen to His still, small voice. He will guide us and give us discernment as to how we can be made more like Him.
this kind of went with a verse i’ve been sitting with today that He’ll work on behalf in our faith, “if our faith in Him pleases him in a way that he wants to work on our behalf” it’s like 2 Cor 6:1 “Working together with Him, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain.” that when we work along side Him in our walk of obedience and faith you’re going to be aware of Him moving things more than before- God wants to work with us and we have to get our work ethic together and work along side Him- He wants to serve a cheerful heart

I had this EXACT conversation with the LORD earlier today about my unbelief in His willingness to provide for me and satisfy me. Which was leading me to seek ways to provide for and satisfy myself.
He said to me :“you still don’t trust me with this.”
Literately in the same hour this was posted did we have this convo. I just got done finding Bible verses to meditate on to combat this unbelief.
The word about our faith in Him to help us through it being the thing that would move Him was definitely eye-opening confirmation because I had been trying to rely on my own strength and willpower to please Him, when it’s my faith in Him that moves Him the most. And leaning on Him for that strength and willpower is the way to go.
This is something else I’ll be meditating on. Thank y’all! 🫶🏾
