I love Van and CR pulling Bill in opposite directions in the opening scene/Latina/Salma Hayek conversation. Van wanted a full blown discussion and CR couldn't wait for the discussion to be over. Bill started on CR's side out of caution, moved to Van's side when he starts talking about top 5 Latinas, and then back to CR once he saw the rest of his career flash before his eyes.
Why did Van not care?
@@captaincoon_ Van knows he can pull the black man card, which expels him from all responsibilities to be an adult despite the fact that his hairline is starting to form alphabetic letters.
I have a newborn at home and every time I prepare a bottle, I’m like here comes the banana boat, coco puff coming at you.
John Goodman had one of the best performances I love him in there had dying laughing 🤣
‘Nothing can keep the big dawg down’
If “I drive better when I’m drunk” was a movie
"I land a plane with a busted jackscrew and the elevator in the dive position better when I'm drunk." 😂
I watched the movie the plane crash is unbelievable cinema. The use of Sweet Jane made me emotional. Thanks for reminding me about this movie. IThe hearing scene is some of the best acting in Denzel's career. That moment when he can't bring himself to stain the beautiful stewardesses reputation is the a bottom he can't touch and the beginning of his redemption. What a dramatic moment and he delivers it perfectly.
Denzel’s most underrated and under appreciated performance ever.
I'm torn - I think Denzel is very good in Flight but some parts of the movie are so ridiculous to me that it undermines the good things in it. Flight peaks in the first 30 minutes and is a mixed bag the rest of the way.
The scene when he pulled the trigger in Jon Q... Top Tier what thought I would have been going through after that...
Chris and Van are right: Contact is super underrated and very rewatchable.
I used to love Contact. I have the Sagan audiobook (which I haven't finished).
It's a tougher watch after Interstellar came out.
@@HKim0072Sagan is the main reason it works. The scientific foregrounding helps me to go along with the more imaginative elements and even makes bearable some of the schmaltzier moments.
Contact is Hollywood cheese nonsense! lol 😂
@@knownpleasures You literally have no idea who Carl Sagan is. Truly embarrassing.
“The Beast with Two Backs” is a reference to a line from Othello
Most rewatchable scene has to be the John Goodman hotel scene.
That's Barton Fink
Yeah don't you want to just call up John Goodman and have him deliver drugs to you? 😂😂
Really happy Mo' Better Blues was mentioned.
I'm pretty new to the Rewatchables and I love it.
I hope they can do some older movies like:
Breakfast at Tiffany's
Casablanca
Psycho
The African Queen
They never do old movies. I don't think they've one older then the Godfather-1972.
These podcast are AMAZING!!! great chemistry with the guys... funny
The 2 Guns stray was wild
Denzel is a “tour du force” in this one😎🫡
Geez, I just googled Alaska Airlines Flight 261 where they went inverted.
I used to fly that airline during that same time period and I don't even remember any crashes. Internet and news just moved slower back then.
Strange. When Sympathy for the Devil came in, I immediately thought of Denzel in movie "Fallen" 1998.
That got me thinking they use this song way to much.
Really enjoyed this podcast. I know Talledega Nights has to be on the list already, but is Four Brothers being considered for an episode?
My wife and I watched Sully on a flight once. Crazy experience
Glad to see Bill squeezed in his requisite Amy Adams belittling
Watched Flight for this podcast to come out, LETS GO 🙏🏼
Van Lathen is right Joaquin definitely deserved the Oscar for “The Master”.
Finally a good one thank you
The last few movies they've done were bad choices.
What a guy lol
Probably Denzel’s greatest performance as an actor
It’s my favorite
Such an underrated movie
Sympathy for the Devil is also featured in Fallen!
One of the best Rewatchables podcasts. “Flight” is an amazing movie that works on many levels. The Kelly Reilly character, storyline is the weakest link. What about a “Flight” movie that stays with Whip and doesn’t get distracted by the Kelly Reilly storyline?
An all time opening scene
Love the podcast!!! Two suggestions for old school and new school! How have you not done Silverado and Sicario!!!
What john goodman did with the cigarette and the coke we call that a Choppa in Miami that shit be so stank 😂😂😂 Burning glue
11:53 Roman J Israel - All time great performance.
You can't spell "Functional Alcoholic" without "Fun"
I really enjoyed this film
When he broke down at the end and couldn't lie on his girlfriend I felt that. All he needed was one more life but he couldn't.
My favorite Denzel performance. He embodies being a bum lol
I know it's kinda immature, but I can't help but find Whip as a character just cool as hell. He sleeps with beautiful women, snorts a line, then not only saves a hundred lives, but does it in the coolest calmest way possible. And even at the end, he still takes accountability.
" u like the un known" lol
The biggest nod to drug addiction is the entire movie is a crash from the initial high and sitting in the wreckage of it's set up. It's not all coke off strippers butts, it's stealing your mom's tv for crack money, it's drying out in rehab.
That’s insight brother😎🫡
The substance abuse part of this film is by far the best part of it, carried by Denzel of course. Without him it is a mediocre film with some great spots. But Denzel is magnificent. This films shows why he's one of the best ever.
Perfect song choices by the way in the scene when he was passed out in the bathroom. They start off with Sympathy For The Devil when they are trying to wake him up. After he does the cocaine, it goes right to Feelin' Alright by Joe Cocker.
@@lpr5269I agree with Bill that it’s basically chalk
If you're a fan of this movie, you should seek out a 1980 movie called 'The Pilot' starring and directed by Cliff (with great power comes great responsibility) Robertson.
Have to agree with Van on the opening scene
1:04 bit is so funny
Maybe a little off topic but this is a dope looking podcast studio 😮
Great upload. Die Hard 1 2 and 3. Eraser,
Beverly Hills cop 2. Maybe Tango and Cash?
54:40 They missed a key detail that the airline, inverted flight and incident were inspired by real Alaska 261 crash. Much like “Southjet” Alaska Air had a poor aviation reputation and record for safety.
The substance abuse part of this film is by far the best part of it, carried by Denzel of course. Without him it is a mediocre film with some great spots. But Denzel is magnificent. This films shows why he's one of the best ever.
Van, fuck what Dr. Umar thinks! You the biggest bunny hopper out here, you ain't slick. 😂
The lesson - if you've got to perform some death defying stunt, maybe being a little drunk isn't the worst thing in the world.
Alternate title : Flight Risk
Denzel trying to flee to Jamaica
best name for a racehorse is I'm Drunk Right Now
United 93 is rewatchable at least up until Ben Slinney says "That's it, we're finished" then almost everything that happened on the plane is conjecture from fragments heard on the airphone calls and what is heard on the radio. It's a great movie about ATC and military men and women trying to figure out what it going on. And so many of the military and ATC guys are cast as themselves. You listen to the actual ATC on 9/11 and you recognize the voices from the movie.
Chris Ryan - " Like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like, terrible impression, like like like like like like like like like like"
How dare you besmirch CR.
Yall skipped Fences? WHOA. Flight is prob my fav Denzel, but Fences is right up there.
Did I miss the Wayne Jenkins on this one?!
How do you not have glory in his mount rushmore
Man on Fire is one of my favorites also !
Do tombstone please
Van is right on with the Flight 93 viewing
Cray thing is how soon it came out! Less than five years! I still wouldn’t watch it
I wonder if you guys have seen Society of the Snow, because that has now dethroned this movie as the most realistic movie plane crash.
As great as I think this movie exactly as is, I'd also really love to see it with Tom Hanks. It'd easily be the most unlikeable he'd ever portray, he could just go to a real dark place and it would feel so even more because of his usual. like he could've pulled an oscar outta this.
plus it would be a great extra level of irony since he actually played Sully in that other movie lol
"I'm a results driven MF'er" 😂😂😂 So true when thinking about Denzel landing that plan coked out & drunk!!! 💯💯💯 THIS IS NOT A TOP 5 DENZEL PERFORMANCE!!!! John Q was a better performance 💯💯💯
alt title: Defying Gravity
"When's the last time youv've had an Amy Adams in The Master conversation?" - actually several times. When is the last time ANYONE has had a conversation about Flight besides the plane crash after 2012 - never!
Will Smith shoulda done Flight. I liked that Tom Cruise Barry Seal movie
Waiting for Blood in Blood out and Scarface.
Credit bush
Van Lathan is the best asset of the ringer.
Blow request
I think CR interrupted like 20 times .
He ain’t lying about the girl 👀
Pimp C didn't like planes either. that's why he didn't go to Barbados for the Big Pimpin video shoot
Wanna see yall do JFK
They did a few years ago. There's only an audio.
Van: “this is a movie about the movie” wow, really? How profound
LMAO
I love the podcast but I find him to be a bad fit. He is not articulate enough as shown by his needless swearing. He's also always yelling. He ruins these for me. Bill, Chris and Sean are the best.
If he's on a podcast I skip it.
I think his point is that the movie isn't trying to be anything other than telling its story. It's not "Oscar bait", or trying to push an agenda.
He literally elaborates seconds after…
Underrated Zel movie
I’m a results oriented mfer 😂
Why would make dis joint
I disagree with Van…..United 93 is so incredibly powerful
Spoiler Warning: Zero Garcelle Beauvais or Whip's son mentioned 1:01 at all
I ride with Van, he was right
The hunted
Aaron Eckhart should have been the co-pilot so we could discuss why all of his planes fall out of the sky. 🤔
I’ll be you’re Connor for real cup boys
If you have addiction problems. This is on the unwatchable list
This movie has not become a rewatchable.
Quotable. Period.
Van likes the worst movies.
Where's Amanda to give her idiotic views on Oppenheimer before SCREAMING about BEN ALLECK and LOOK AT THOSE HOUSES?
2nd
Im sure "doctor" umar has had nothing but nice things to say about the jews
