As a fellow Chicagoan, if you have the finances, I recommend you buy a two or three flat unit. If you have a great relationship with a friend, who’s fiscally responsible, purchase that multi unit together. Of course, ensure you have an attorney compose papers in case you decide to part.
Finances are huge in this case lol. If you wanna be in a decent area near the Chicago area it gonna cost a PRETTY penny for sure, need updates, and I'm sure you gotta stay there for a decent amount of time. Easy said then done in my opinion.
Thanks for the insight as someone whose lived there. Been a couple times, learning you gotta be smart over there. I'm seeing the housing market have more modern, updates to buildings so it seems the area is trying to improve and more families and students are moving in.
