Ian didn’t realise the locks are so easy to fit, replace the broken screws with stainless steel so they don’t rust. Intro and outro music worthy of a 1970’s Police Drama 😂😂👍
Very sorry to hear about your Caravan break in. Like yous, our Caravan is our pride and joy and would be devastated if ours had the same thing happen. Thanks for the heads up, I think most of us have thought about putting locks on but never get around to it. I will get onto ours ASAP. Wishing you all well, Paul and Julie.
Hi Ian, Sorry to here your caravan has been brocken into, I fitted these locks to my MH when I had it, nice to see they have a better lock on them now, Yes you are right about sealing the holes with silicone to stop water ingress great couple of videos on security, I need to get one for our caravan now 👍
Great couple of videos . I know we would be devastated if ours was stolen or even just broken into. Think I will invest in a couple of these to atleast make there job harder
Great information and we can understand how you and your wife feels with having our first van broken into....the wife wouldn't go in it again so, ended up selling it.
Sorry to hear about this incident. You tend to think the vans will be safe when in a secure storage site. But as its been said many times if these people want your caravan they will find a way to take it. Another great video and I have been thinking about adding a door lock for a while. This might just give me the 'nudge' I need. Another good device to possibly slow down any attempt the take your caravan.
Security is a reason I like that our folding camper is stored in our garage at home. But still keep the hitch and wheel locks on. Could you have got away with just one lock by putting across the join? Just a thought but with the 2 your much better off. Stay safe and happy Christmas to you and Clare
Yes you could Mike... but that would just encourage them to bend the top or bottom door. I bought two just because I felt two was better than one and to make Clare feel better about the whole thing.
Hi Ian, just found your channel this morning, it’s great. Just bought our first caravan and looking for lots of hints and tips so saw this one. Had a question for you, the Fiamma safe door locks you bought, where they the standard or frame (according to their offices site they have two types), I guess frame? The ones I see on Amazon have a plate with four screws and the ones you have are 3. Thanks in advance, from a fellow Wirral-alien 🙂
Hi Ian. The stress upset + the time and effort to fit locks ect for some low life to nick parts or steel you’re van is not what you need. And the way I look at it is the £100 + you have spent could have been used for a break away in the caravan. Which is what we all look forward to. Hopefully the extra security will put the low life’s off thanks for sharing
Sorry to hear about your break in.just a wee note on siliconing your screws and around the lock, don't put any along the bottom in the event water gets in this should allow it to escape.anything to stop the thieving gets is a good idea
Great demo of fitting process. Not a nice position to be in with the feeling your van is being targeted. You’ve done the correct and only thing you can do to attempt delay or abandonment by caravan thieves.

Hi, thanks for this advice, we’re on the same compound, Ive been over today straight after watching to make sure ours was OK. Maybe having an older van makes them less attractive to the scum bags. Hope you all OK now.
Hi Ian, Not a nice feeling when uninvited people have been into your own space. Do you think the alarm activated as soon as they got in? Hopefully a thief will think twice when they see the Fiamma locks 👍. Cheers, Rob
Not a very secure storage site. What did the owners have to say about their security? You kept your last van at home on earlier videos. Not possible now?
Hi, I had put them in too ... but then one day in Saint Cyprien in France, two hammer blows were enough to open it and a screwdriver to break into the original lock, they didn't steal anything because inside I had my 42 kg Belgian shepherd who was keeping watch! And I replaced it ... watch video on my channel ! There is also door locking in front ...
I had my swift conqueror broken into on the storage yard. They swapped out the Sargent PCU ! The barrel in the door lock was slightly damaged. I bought these locks hopefully it won’t happen again
Hi Ian Great video and sorry to hear the low life good for nothing oxygen thieving bastards have broken in to you van. When I bought my van it’s a 2014 swift exactly the same as yours and I was told from that year they stopped using wood and that it grp but I’m no expert Good luck mate

hahaha that did cross my mind too when choosing the music.

Thanks Paul...
Thanks for the help. Good for you for taking care of Clare. Happy wife, happy life.
Your welcome... glad the video helps. Thanks for the feedback... always welcome. Take care.... Ian
So sorry, we would be absolutely devastated to, they’re your second home, pride and joy, we’re definitely going to look into these locks xxx
I like the look of the door locks, think I will have to get, at least one! Thanks for your video! Cheers !
Good locks... easy to fit. More of a deterrent than anything else. Has certainly made Clare feel better after the break in.
Great video, thank you. Good advice regarding the silicon.

Hi Ian. Another excellent vlog on this topic - lots of useful and informative content. Much appreciated. Take care. George and Trish - CaravanningMacs
Cheers guys.
Great idea for someone with a faulty main door lock as well as extra security, thx
Thanks Mike....
I've looked at those locks a few times, don't look too bad and as you say, peace of mind...
Just extra hindrance to a would be thief.
Hi, thanks for this advice, Great video and sorry to hear about the low life..
Great couple of videos . I know we would be devastated if ours was stolen or even just broken into. Think I will invest in a couple of these to atleast make there job harder
Cheers Iain... won't stop them but will hinder them. Why make it easy is my opinion.
your right i have my steps rightin the doorway, we have a very different way of security on our caravan
I guess you do what you can.
Great information and we can understand how you and your wife feels with having our first van broken into....the wife wouldn't go in it again so, ended up selling it.

Won't stop them but leys make it as hard as possible is my opinion.
Is there a manufacturer that produces a PIR with a sim to alert you when somebody enters your caravan ?
I am no expert with alarms and trackers etc. I am sure there must be. I know you can buy trackers that alert you but there is a monthly fee.
Do u not have a wheel lock, and a hitch lock?? Mike
Sorry to hear this about your van. Hope Claire starts to feel more comfortable soon. I keep looking at getting a this type of lock.
Cheers guys... that's what this was all about. To help make Clare feel better.

It's all frustrating Paul... but at least fitting them is one more irritation for the scumbags.
Hi Ian, doesn’t your storage facility have cameras ?
Yeah... no sign of a break in and no sign on CCTV.
I have problems with locks anyway.
I have been very wary, as a result of snapping the key in the caravan door lock, a few years ago.
Clare feels better about it all now so job done.
Sorry to hear about your break in.just a wee note on siliconing your screws and around the lock, don't put any along the bottom in the event water gets in this should allow it to escape.anything to stop the thieving gets is a good idea
Yeah good point Thomas... I did that. Cheers...
Great demo of fitting process. Not a nice position to be in with the feeling your van is being targeted. You’ve done the correct and only thing you can do to attempt delay or abandonment by caravan thieves.
Thanks Philip....
Could you just put one lock in the middle over the door join.
That's where I fitted mine
Yes you could Mike... but that would just encourage them to bend the top or bottom door. I bought two just because I felt two was better than one and to make Clare feel better about the whole thing.

Who knows... the locks won't stop them but they do serve as an extra hindrance to a thief.
Not a very secure storage site. What did the owners have to say about their security?

No breach and no CCTV. So annoying...

What is the name of the lock you replaced it with ?
A white dust cover would be better?
Hmmm maybe but may discolour over time.
😡 bloody thieves.
I can understand how Claire feels.
Had to make it more of a hassle if they decide to come back.
@@ForTheLoveOfCaravans Completely understand.
We have had things " removed," in storage.
Light covers etc.
I had my swift conqueror broken into on the storage yard. They swapped out the Sargent PCU ! The barrel in the door lock was slightly damaged. I bought these locks hopefully it won’t happen again
Sorry to hear that Steve... so upsetting and annoying.
I have purchased caravans off people that do diy they make a complete mess of it 9 out 10 times diy is want kills most caravans down the line.
I did it with Woodglut.
That would work too I guess.
@@ForTheLoveOfCaravans Yea ✌️👍

I am still not sure but I think Swift call the GRP sides something different.
