Yes it takes me a while when finding presets and usually I have to adjust these presets (the ADSR, eq, compression, phasing, distortion, etc.) and when digging for samples i sometimes spend like an hour looking for the exact sound/genre/tempo in a sample, and sometimes ill just randomly dig until i find something i like. I find that i typically make better beats when i randomly dig because if i have an idea in my mind of what i want a sample to sound exactly like/how i want the beat to sound, i get too caught up on making it exactly how i invisioned it. Also when digging for samples i typically look for samples with not a lot going on in the low-mids (usually where the drums are especially snare and kick) so that when i eq and compress the sample, it sounds a lot cleaner and leaves room for me to build a beat based on the sample rather than on top of the sample. good question bro
