Thank you for reminding us all that productivity is not just getting things done but spend time on what is important to you.
You're very welcome, John.
Planning is one thing, sticking to it is another. I often find that my calendar doesn’t fit my mood: some events require a litte break or doing some lighter tasks after, before I can dedicate myself continuing the activities on my calendar. Even more, I can appreciate some freedom during the day. What are your thoughts on some freedom in your calendar, instead of planning everything (especially walking with your dog 😅)?
Btw, I appreciate your video’s like always. They feel like a ‘mirror’ wherein I can evaluate my routine. Thanks.
Hi Noëll, Absolutely. You need to build in flexibility. There are too many unknowns that will happen and you need to have time for those. Plus, you need rest between each session of work.
Such a great question!
Thank you for the very useful tips 👍🏻 and to your Skillshare offering. Great to be able to continue to learn using tools and platforms you help provide. Thanks
You're very welcome, Michael. Glad you enjoy Skillshare.
Great video and love your weekly newsletter. Best wishes!
Fantastic! Thank you, Miksang.
Thank you Carl, content super!
Glad you liked it, Paolo.
Dear Carl, thank you for all your content, it helps a lot. Currently I’m down to getting myself up from thae couch at nights, I tend to fall into half sleep after dinner, so I do my best to go for a half hour walk to get som energy for the rest of the evening.
I commute 1,5-2 hours by car, to fee that time is productive I usually listen to podcasts or audiobooks at least some of the way.
My biggest remaining challenge is sleeping. I set the alarm for 5:20 and go to sleep around 9:30-10. But most nights i wake up at 2 or 3, even if I manage to go back to sleep I’ll often be awake and up before 5. So i am often tired and exhausted. I’ve cut down on caffeine, minimized screen usage after 8 and tried most other advices (I read Mathew Walker “Why we sleep” in the summer). But so far not fully satisfied with my sleep habits.
Any advices? I’m contemplating with my self to simply start studying for an hour or so when I’m fully awake at night rather than getting frustrated and after an hour tossing start mindless browsing social medias 😅
Hi Nicolai, I have the same problem. Not great at sleeping. The only thing that has worked a little for me is to fix the time I go to sleep and wake up each day. After a couple of days of poor sleep, my body reverts back to sleeping better. The difficulty is staying strict to going to bed at the right time and waking up at the same time each day.
Yeah, I’m trying to fix times, but also studying (Master Coach & Psychotherapist based on the theories of the triune brain by Paul D. MacLean) means I regularly have classes ending late so I’m home close to midnight. I almost always make sure I have the day after off or at least do not have to work before 10.
Weekend I let myself sleep without alarm if I can, and that gives me a little more relaxed feeling.
I also have found I may be too obsessed with sleep logging and getting 8 hours sleep, it would be better to focus on the quality of sleep and if you are able to stay focused during the day without binging on caffeinated drinks.
Ali Abdaal had a short on this subject a few days ago (I will watch the entire Foster episode when I have time) ruclips.net/video/oWpqKDX9weA/видео.html
The doggy on the video thumbnail is so cute 😍
Hahah little Louis. He likes "helping" LOL
We need more "helping" dogs (especially if they are as cute as Louis 😜). Have a nice weekend Carl!
Very relevant, I’m not blocking enough personal time.
We all might be a little guilty of that, Avi.
I always appreciate your excellent advice. Why do I have so much trouble actually making a schedule, and then adhering to it?
At some point you realise that something needs to hold you accountable. If not your calendar, what? My calendar is sacred. I can renegotiate, but never ignore it.
Where am I going to permit "work/company" to intrude into my life... as little as possible. : )))))
That's a good way to look at it.
