Was thinking about art career for a few hours today and felt kinda sad since i didnt know what to do. Suddenly this video pops up, thank mew. Im feeling a bit better now.
To be honest, no career outside of art has ever interested in me so I didn't go to school for anything. I went to college and majored in some stuff but I just didn't like any of the things that you go to school for so I dropped out. Then I went through a pretty big depression and I stopped drawing for a while and now I'm getting back into it. Drawing everyday to get my fundamentals to a decent level. The depression really held me back but I want to get my skill set and be able to work as an artist one day
That's almost similar to my situation. I wanted to pursue art but I don't have much of the skills yet so I went to school but I dropped out twice and yeah thats why Im back here checking out the art community
@@artdiary1878 The only advice I can give you if you think about going art school don't they don't really teach you how to draw they pretty much expect you to be good at art. It mostly about something to put on your resume. It's really a waste of money. It's really expensive and you don't need it. If you have the skills you'll be able to find the job. Most companies just care about your portfolio. You can learn everything you need through online classes and books . That will save you 100k.
Yeah, I'm in a middle of leaving a job that's just a "profession" for me, I've always thought that passion+profession was the goal but after a while I just feel too burnt out. Thank you for this video!
as someone who has not went to school could you make a video on how we can get our foot in the door for opportunities to expand our knowledge in a traditional job?
Thank you so much for making this video! Information like this is always so important and rarely broken down this way in an art career standpoint! Especially mentioning that you even reevaluate from time to time is so validating! Thanks again 💕
What got me into art is I want be share and make stuff also I enjoy art since little I want do many art forms as I can 😂I know people say stick to one but I going do all can do regardless what others say 😊
I already Graduated with Bachelor degree but its not art 😢. I wish my strict parents allow me to work in art career someday. I want to publish book about learning, An activity book. When I was kid, I love these book it's my dream to make and earn some money to live ❤
You're an adult. You don't really need to listen to your parents. You can just completely cut off communications with them when you're living on your own. My mom doesn't talk to her sister anymore because she was really controlling. She ends her fears as everybody's affairs in the family and she always wants to manipulate everyone.
this is such an important video, so many things you find out via trial and error, this will be such an important resource for so many aspiring artists ❤❤
Since you have experience within the animation industry, do you happen to have any tips/recommendations on what specs to look for in a laptop? It’s time for me to retire my current laptop and my plan for the future is to get into animation. I don’t have a plan further than that but wants to see where the road takes me, but it’s probably not gonna be any huge projects.
@mewTripled just wish I had strong connections like you, know I know current state of cartoon network is a mess old HQ had less than 150 people at most and two teams working in house stuff, adult swim only had 4 shows on production at the time of the hq going down
If you sign up for art station, they’ll send you daily email updates on current jobs that are posted. It’s only a fraction of jobs, but its a start. Plenty of people are hiring, and a lot of them are remote.
I want to work as a storyboard artist and I need to go to get a degree cause I'm not from the US and getting into the industry is more elevated and extra work and if I can't get a degree in manila due to no parental supervision then I'll find a way to work in the animation industry or indie projects your videos kinda helps me understand the industry a bit
Remember that the future doesn't exist yet, and trust that when the time comes you trust yourself to know how to handle a situation when it happens, instead of planning for something that doesn't exist.

Finding the right art career or any career also means to have the patience to solve problems in your chosen careers.

"How to have a successful art career"
Be a content creator, an engineer, an architect, a businesman, just do anything except art.
Hi Mew, I love what you do! Thanks for your advice ❤
