If I remember correctly, metal blades were banned in a lot of schools because they developed razor sharp edges from walking over concrete and other hard surfaces around less specialised sports fields. One of my friends had to go and get stitches in his shin after an encounter with some Adidas Predators when we were in school in the late 90s
They were banned in youth football when i was a youth
My school didn’t have them banned, guess what happened when someone two footed me?
@@katie_xoxo_1186 You got a 7th hole on your body?
Yeah our local sunday league banned them for a few years as supposedly a 1:1 with a keeper and the striker was wearing metal blades and sliced his leg open
I had actually never seen one before, but my dad did and from the wrong end
Kieran is slowly turning into a goalkeeper

i live in australia and kangaroos are legally pests. They are extremely over populated and are still used in many products here, and their meat can be found in most butchers. Interesting that other countries ban it but not Australia itself.
Kangaroo leather cleats are incredible
Lol classic cali thinking they are doing the right thing for the environment but actually have no idea and making it worse…
@@theshovl3r Its so incredibly backward and condescending.
It's because California is dumb
@@theshovl3r Thing is: The kangaroos used to make the leather aren't the wild plagues from Australia, they're actually raised on farms in order to do so.
I remember watching football on TV here in Brazil before 2010’s, metal blades were always a topic in rainy matches. The main problem was the knee injures that were way much susceptible to happen
I totally understand the metal boots. Playing baseball growing up, we used metal spikes after a certain age. If you got stepped on, WOW they hurt like hell. But, the ground grip interaction was insane, and they technically were legal, so we all dealt with the random spikes to the top of the foot
your actually able to have metal studs you just can't have blades
"Using K leather is inhumane" *sick montage of skills*

Interesting that kangaroo leather is banned in the states but most footy boot used in Australian Rules Football use kangaroo leather. Even though Kangaroos are a native animal here in Aus, they are considered pests as well. Culling Kangaroo population isn't unheard of and Australians often eat kangaroo meat
Its not banned in the states, its banned in California. And the people that run California very rarely make regulations based on common sense.
its only banned in california the rest of the states are fine
Great vid, one small correction from an American viewer, Kangaroo leather was banned by just the California state government. The federal government refers to the governing body of the entire United States, who have discussed a k-leather ban but haven't done it
Agreed. Also a note that no one in California is checking your boots when you play a game to see if they kangaroo leather. Buddy of mine has two pairs.
California seems to love its insane laws. Kangaroo leather is bad, but cow leather is fine?
I play with Kangaroo leather Adidas Adipures in California but Gov Newsome’s goons haven’t caught up to me yet!
I had them shipped to Wisconsin for my parents to smuggle into this so called state.
@@drunkenhobo5039 stupid laws
@@bguerra4 I used to only wear kangaroo leather when I played. I have a wide foot and it was the only leather that would stretch and fit me comfortably.

In Argentina, for about a decade or so, the AFA made a rule that Goalkeepers were banned from wearing pants and socks of a different color than the rest of the team. So, if the team they were playing for were wearing yellow pants and black socks, for example, they were required to wear those color of pants and socks too. Only their jerseys were to be of a different color from the rest of the team. That rule remained from the early 70s until the late 80s. And I really couldn't tell you why they implemented such a rule.
2:00 "UEFA want to be politicaly neutral"😂😂😂
8:55 “It was banned in California by the federal government.” As an American I feel like helping you out here, to tell you that that’s the equivalent of saying “It was banned in Germany by the EU government.”
In the United States, the term “federal government” refers to the governing body of the larger United States, which would be unable to pass a law that would only be in effect in a single state. Anything specific to California would be passed by the California state government. (It’s kinda like how the UK has 4 countries in it, except the US has 50.)
I know this may sound nit picky, but I just wanted to inform you about the terminology here. Not trying to criticize you, just telling you about American government :D

that kangaroo leather ban is bizarre. They are SO abundant. There's nothing inhumane about their farming haha.

little do they know that kangaroos are actually a huge pest here in Australia
This does not change the fact that in Australia there are 48 million kangaroos and in Uruguay there are 3,457,380 inhabitants. So if the kangaroos decide to invade Uruguay, each Uruguayan will have to fight 14 kangaroos.
Only Americans would ban something that's made from kangaroos (a actual pest), yet approve cow leather.
we don't have kangaroosd here lol
Still got our metal blade predators! 😅🙌 Only boots that work on grass during the winter here in England! 😂 The Palermo top is still 🔥
Yea Ik in our youth league (in the us) some kids will have those replaceable studs. About half plastic half metal and if you have metal you gotta be careful and can get treated more harsh by the ref

Hey Kieran Can u pls make a video of all the football kits and boots you have and your training gear too....many of us will love to see it 🥰
I'm glad we've finally got clarity on metal blades, some say they are banned, but then with retro boots everywhere I see them most weekends on people's feet. I can't find the ban anywhere. So they aren't banned just frowned upon. Thanks fella! Also, I think you test was a little harsh, surely it should have been metal studs v metal blades???
Keep up the great work Kieran🙌
We have just over 2 kangaroos per person here in Australia, not exactly a shortage of them here 😂
Californians are stuffed in the head anyway.

no it's because of the Nike Swoosh that is too big. Gloves can't be too grippy :)
Several things about the last one
1. I thought there was a surplus of kangaroos?
2. Kangaroo =evil, but cow is fine?
3. Is this synthetic leather made from plastic? I suspect it is. I thought we were supposed to be reducing plastic pollution? Natural is better, it'd at least be biodegradable.
When my family wants to order kangaroo leather cleats we order from out of state so we could still use them in California it’s just hard to get ahold of
crazy since kangaroos are actually a pest here in australia and are culled without hassle.
I don't think colourful boots are anywhere near as popular now as they were 10 years ago. Everyone use to wear vibrant and extremely light boots, now it's gone back to black and quite often leather-style boots.
bro literally went back in time in the winter to get that snow clip ☠☠
The new balance ban is ridiculous because half of California yuppies wear Blundstone boots, made from Kangaroo leather.
Ajax's " Bob Marley" shirt, got 3 little birds on the top of the back. But it was not aloud by the UEFA. So they had to play their matches without the 3 little birfs referring to the song
The heading back to the keeper is considered unsportsmanlike. It’s the same if you score by doing that.
Ahh I remember the days of the bladed metal studs, some guys used to grind them down till they were sharp like knives
Video idea: try recreate the goats best goals!
Concerning the black boots only rule, I kind of see a logic there. You're there to train and develop your skills. You should be focused on that and not your kit. I'd have a caveat that I would take the boots if I was planning on bringing them up to the main squad and use them as a "promotion trophy" to say, "You've earned the right to wear these."
Not black boots dark coloured boots but I get what you mean
Have you seen them Imotana custom fit boots? Should deffo get a review up of them, compare to any other custom fit boots there is available
Him:You can’t dive for a tackle
My brain:GAVI??
I literally tore both my ACL's wearing those exact same predator cleats.
The first was my left, when I was 16, then recovered fully in 6 months, started playing again using vapors, then one game I forgot my vapors because I took them out of my bag to clean them from the previous week as that game had some nasty weather, but i had my old predators in the bag, wore them and tore my right ACL in that game.
Never bought an adidas product again after that second injury.
Out of all the boots Ive ever worn by far the best and most comfortable were the kangaroo leather orange boots i had.
Bro deserves a oscar for that ball clip
Oh California. Kangaroos are extremely overpopulated in Australia. Might as well use them as boots.
I'm in California and I'm getting k-leather cleats next week. 😂😂

But anyway, those Metal Blade Boots were scary; I literally FLINCHED during the kicking test! 😰
I used to have predators with steel blades the exact same ones. I loved them
8:54 it wasn't banned by the federal gov't (Nation wide) just Californias state gov't(State specific). You can get them in every other state in the US

California’s policy on kangaroo leather is extraordinarily stupid, and this is coming from a Californian
Got to say I grew up with metal blades and got cut open a hell of a lot more with the plastic mercurial ones
Deadset playing real footy (rugby) there’s nothing more I love than me metal studs the sound on concrete was unreal plus made the rucks fun
good video but if the US Federal government banned something, it would be banned in every state, not just California, so I assume you meant that the state government banned it
Please make more videos bro lov your content
The Predator year 2000 and 2002 metal blade are the real deal, they were sharp, thin and very long.
I used to have metal stud boots! Understandable. Being a defender made things easy for me when your 8 defending like a king semi scaring some other kids with them
The header to the keeper trick is smart idk why its banned
Canada: Kangaroo leather boots are banned.
Australia: What ya mean ya don't wear Kangaroo leather boots? What the hell is wrong with ya?
nice Norwegian beanie 😂
The blades were ruthless in high school, specially after 6 months when they sharpened up
Glad I don’t live in Cali, because Kangaroo leather cleats are my favorite
Keep up❤ make more videos like this
I rarely agree with Ferguson but on footballers looking professional and maintaining a certain image I am fully on board. Same with Dyche, maybe it's a bit old school but these are highly paid professionals, they can stand to be a little chilly in training. As my old manager used to say, if you are cold you aren't working hard enough.
Nice vid
Nice video so far.
I think that clubs like man city/United. Should allow solid color boots. Like say a mostly red or mostly blue boot, but not boots that have like 5 or more weird colors on them. because a lot of company just don’t make black boots for a while after they release them.
I agree!
I am pretty sure the rule is just you can't possess the ball then head the ball back to the keeper so if you dive to the ground with your first touch I'm pretty sure that is allowed
i really don't get why they banned thermal pants. one of my knees is sensitive to cold, if exposed to cold air for too long it starts hurting, i couldn't imagine playing in cold weather without thermal pants underneath shorts
I didn't even know there were that many kangaroos in the first place.
I'm partially colorblind and I love when leagues make it easier to follow the games on tv.
Great job
Loved metal blades when I was playing as a dirty defender in semi pro.
for the snood one, keepers will actually be able to wear shiestys and beanies.
I love those metal bladed boots had the pred manias sg bladed when in Germany loved em lol
Another reason I think UEFA aren’t so keen about the metal studs is because of the South Africa incident in 1998 that left all 11 players on one side dead (it’s because of stormy winds, lighting hit the ground, and disaster struck.)
I used to have K-Leather boots by Japanese brand Svolme and its so comfy to wear….
Those blades are worn to death 😂
True! I image they'd be even worse if brand new!
I have a pair of really illegal/banned football boots. Metal studs and there are only 6 of them on each boot... They are also BIG.
Yet to lose a man vs man situation with those bad boys... the amount of grip you get is just stupid... but they are not fast to run with.
1:52 Epic Brozo 😍🇭🇷
Cameroon national team shirts connected to shorts? One love armbands?
Another one was AJAX three little bird - bob marley edition shirt. they did not allow to add those birds there (uefa)
