About two years ago I purchased a TP9 V2, based on you review, and I've been loving it. The G17 is my home defense weapon, but the V2 has been my go range gun. I've got close to 2,000 rounds through it, with only one malfunction, and I suspect that was caused by the cheap amo I was using.
Excellent video review! The Canik TP9 DA model is poorly misunderstood by many people out there, mainly by gun owners that all they want to do is just "pull the trigger" 😁 (I am being sarcastic a bit) and don't want to deal with a decocking system. The TP9 DA is actually a modern flawless design. It can be staged in 3 firing modes, depending on the individual training and dexterity of the shooter: - One mode is in double action first shot, by decocking the pistol after racking a round in the chamber, with subsequent shots in single action (ideal stress mode for police agencies). -The second mode is, racking the slide to load a round in the chamber and not decocking the pistol, making the first shot an over traveling trigger without resistance, until you feel it clicks in the single action, and you can then fire it (if so is warranted). -The third mode is for the pros (anti-stress), which it's racking a round in the chamber and carefully using the safe action system to stage the trigger in single action with an average weight pull of 4.5 lbs. TP9 DA is truly an amazing pistol with 3 firing modes. So: "you do you," that is: whatever you prefer and you are comfortable with. I own a Canik TP9-DA and is reliable, very accurate, with an amazing trigger pull, just second to the Walther PPQ, and equal to the CZ P10.
The 2 tone look would be the way to go for me to, the all Burnt Bronze reminds me of the James Bond golden gun. That said TP9's are some of the best pistols for the price.
When I seen this ere I went out and bought my 1st canek the TP9DA I am fired over 2000 rounds with this fire arm Add no failures yet I use it for training and on duty I will buy a nother 11 wears out if it wears out Thank you For this review
Canik DA seems to have everything you need in a striker fire pistol I do like Mec gar magazines for ease of maintenance and it has style and it ejects shells away from your body far to the right unlike most other striker fired pistols.
On a recommendation by Paul Markel of Student of the Gun I tried the Canik and found it to live up to its reviews and purchased the Elite S model. Love it for my EDC.
You always put the best gun reviews. I will buy canik tp9 DA soon ,really like the decocker ,give us the double/single action option which is very rare in any strike fire pistol.
I absolutely love the Canik line. After watching yours and many other reviews, I purchased a tp9sf last year and I love it. Thanks for the great information you provide in your reviews.
Excellent Review! While I continue to be very well served by my original Canik TP9V1, I could be tempted by a Canik TP9 DA in Black Finish! It's nice to see how this basic design and models continue to evolve.
Thank you for all your time and your hard work shooting these guns to help us purchase the right gun when we go to our LGS!! To all of you who rant about that country.....go step up to your local community and do so hard free work and contribute better resources to help !
Bro, something I’d like to commend you on is a little thing but I really appreciate. You clear your guns on camera. Other folks might mention having cleared it off camera but to me I can relax a bit more seeing it happen. This is not a criticism of others. Again I appreciate that others acknowledge the importance, clear their guns and say so on camera. But, for a new shooter, watching you do it encourages the practice even more. So thank you. God bless you, as well.
I ALWAYS enjoy your reviews. Thanks for your effort to bring top quality information to the masses. I also enjoy the bloopers at the end that shows that as great as the videos are, that it takes effort and multiple takes sometimes to get it right. You are a really good sport for including them. I also appreciate your voice on political situations regarding gun laws, the second amendment, and in this case, the polical climate and situation in the country of manufacture. I also read the opinions of those who comment. Keep up the great work!

Sootch, as well as viewers, PLEAAE READ THIS. I own a Tp9 Da and theres a couple things i have noticed that are very cool features that Sootch probably just didnt notice because its quite different. First when taking apart, use decocker, but then when pulling the takedown levers, there is no need to pull back 1/8th inch. It can be at rest, and then pulled straight foward. Second, when reloading a magazing while the pistol is locked open, if you slap the full mag in with a decent amount of pressure, it will release the slide making the gun ready, without having to hit the slide release button yourself, or pull back and release. If you dont own this pistol yet, get it! I trust mine with my life, and i used to be a bit of a "Glock Fanboy" until i purchased my first of many Caniks, the Tp9 DA at least is miles ahead of any out of the box Glock. Simpily put, this is by far the greatest handgun ive ever owned or shot in my life. Stay safe, stay free, im Panda, and i approve this message.
I have the TPSF one series, and love it, mostly shooting Reloads of mixed COALs and CFE Pistol...Coated and FMJ ZERO miss fire's or hang ups...Thinking of upgrading so I can use same mags ..Keep up the good work!!
Very boss.. . The features are critical for self defense. When I heard it never looses it accuracy.I was locked in all locked. Sold on the Cannik 9MM. Thank you
Sootch, thank you very much for your review of this Canik. Your amazing knowledge and perception has come with years of experience. It was fun watching and very cool video with music and all.. Stand & Fight
17:38 - The DA pull will smooth-out after 500 rounds. The more you DA pull, the better it gets. I own several different types of pistols ranging in price from $4K 1911's to a $199 Taurus PT 111...and this pistol is an AMAZING value. Highly recommend...in black.
@@febisworld7791 Never holstered it, it was a range toy. I say "was" because I no longer have the Canik. I've actually thinned my collection down to the higher-end stuff. The only Tupperware pistol I kept was the H&K Mark 23
Nice video as I watch the Super Bowl. I just picked up my tp9da yesterday and I like the feel of the gun in hand. The DA pull doesn't seem to stack on the pull and the SA is outstanding. Crisp. The trigger is very nice with short reset in SA. Can't wait to try different ammo to see how the tp9da digests them. For the price this things appears great and if anything like the tp9sfx ( which I own) I will be very happy.
Canik with all the updates!!! I have a V2 with a typical side-to-side dovetail for the front sight. Sadly I don't love mine nearly as much as all the reviewers do, though it is certainly a good value. Shot really far left out of the box and Century wasn't too interested in fixing it. They finally accepted it back but it came back to me shooting the same as it had been. Something about the front sight being kicked way over to the left sets off my OCD or something. Anyway, your reviews are always fun so subbed and I hear comments are good for you guys so BAM! comment.
I own the tp9sf... my local FFL shop was also perplexed on the whole retention button location. I emailed century arms and they confirmed the same as you mentioned sootch. It probably came down to a cost thing where a toggle button was less money than an internal retention, like on the black hawk serpa holsters. Thanks for all the great videos. Huge fan and love the reviews. I have already purchased multiple firearms based on your and Hickocks recommendations. Sig P320, Canik TP9sf, H&K vp9 and the Taurus PT111 (great glove box gun). Take care!!!
I sort of miss the top slide anti glare serrations. I have the v2 and wish Canik offered the DA in a compact size. I think it would be a huge seller with this type of trigger. Nice review as always.
I owned six different Glock models, you-all know the pros and cons. I'm down to one green Gen 4 G17, and a bunch a mags. My con remains the grip angle of the Glock, I still prefer the 1911 angle. I just bought this exact Canik model and just love it, grip angle and ergos included. Love the trigger too. I was still debating the merits of having a safety vs no safety, and I think this design is the answer. The Glock safe action trigger is NOT a safety, period. The trigger paddle prattle does not resist firing, but DA at 9+ lbs does. Glocks can and have inadvertently fired being holstered and other ways. A DA will not, just like a revolver does not. Very very good SA on this model. (Excellent still goes to 1911 style SA). Great video
I hope you start posting more again. I know you tube screwed you guys over. I am 51 and pretty new to shooting. You have helped me so much. I love your channel !!!
Thanks for responding Sooch !!! Like I said I love your channel. I live in Massachusetts and it is hard to buy many firearms. I bought both the Canik tp9sf and the Hk vp9 from your reviews and love them both. Keep up the good work. It is totally appreciated by me and my friends at work and at the range.
No Canik experience, but on strength of several trusted reviews, including sootch, I'd consider one if I needed another glove box gun. I don't, but that won't stop me from buying a firearm I don't "need!"
If century or Canik are watching I'd love one of these as a compact/micro single stack 9 or a .380. I love my V2 and would love to see a baby version of that.
Thanks to you (and some other influencers) I've dove into the Canik line. So far have the Elite-S, SF in FDE, and the DA in bronze. I think I'm covered on all bases! HOWEVER, If been going back and forth on getting the SFX. If you tell me to get it, considering what I've already purchased, I promise you I'll pick it up this week. Say the words Sootch!
Excellently stated on the politics Sootch00... I can respect friends who would NEVER buy Turkish AND also those who simply see it as quality competition which keeps other favored gunmakers quality up and prices down via innovation... you are absolutely right that OUR ONE UNIFYING POLITICAL CONSIDERATION IS THE RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS -- especially since so many of the best are made by past and current and potential future enemies
I like the color on that pistol but it seems like it needs a good aftermarket trigger in it to be stellar. BTW Sootch, you're going to look good when that Foo Manchu fully grows in, keep at it brother!
I just bought a canik TP9 SF today and will take delivery of it next week. This will be my 1st 9mm and I know little about which rounds are best for this pistol. At the sporting depo I saw that they carried two different loads. 115 grains and 165. Because there was a grand opening sale and about a hundred people making a dash for the 9mm rounds, I quickly grabbed boxes of both. When I got home I realized the heavier rounds (165g) are intended for suppressed weapons to compensate for the suppression. Would 165g be too heavy a load for this gun without a suppressor?
only issue I had with V2 was it is heavy sprung for full powered ammo and practice ammo don't work sometimes! I have found no spring replacements to accommodate lighter ammo.
I already bought this and have seen this review...why am I here again? Anyway! Great video! FYI, the holster it comes with is a basic (but very nice) kydex holster with no retention buttons or straps. Also, mags are hard to come by right now. Promag has an aftermarket one, but I haven’t tried it out yet.
If tabs are pulled down when loaded and in double action mode slide will move forward and gun is out of commission...I learned that by putting the gun in a galco triton holster made for a glock 19..fits well and when it's drawn in double action it takes the slide off the frame....
Hell i have a stoeger 12 gauge from turkey and love it. Turkish firearms have increased in quality over the years with bout half the cost than most high end american companies.(not hating america just sayin)
SOOTCH! Thanks for bringing truly "fair and balanced" reviews and remaining apolotical, in the face of adversity. He it is that does go with you brother!
Mechanically, the internal guts look identical to the Walther P99 AS (and the P99 clone - Magnum Research MR9 Eage). I own a 4.5" MR9 Eagle, and a P99C AS (my new daily CCW). Although I'm sure the Canik is a great design overall, I prefer the Walther/MR designs for personal reasons. Just wish Walther would produce greater numbers of the P99/P99C series, as I'd love to get a standard P99 AS to compliment my collection.
A pronounciation note: In turkish letter C pronounced as J or G as in John or G.I. Joe. A is like a in jaw. the rest is N-I-K, pretty much like 'nick'. I would say it is pronounced as "JA-nick". Emphasis on the first syllable. Nevertheless I get that the branding would be harder with the original pronounciation, this is just to let you guys know how we call it.
With the DA Canik finally got me. They 1st Gen was so awful I never thought I'd buy one. Even the SA was a ok shooter with a sweet trigger but that rounded slide was too big and not flat. I got an mc28 just to see how it would hold up and it's a tank. Not a crappy cz clone.
Nice review. I have wanted a Canik just to play with but I avoid fullsize guns because if I really like it, I will want to carry it. I already have fullsize guns that have become "save queens". But I still want one.
We need CANiK to make at least one more in a TP9 SC DA. This would be the ultimate striker fired carry weapon that can handle +P rounds (to bloom hollow points because of the shorter barrels in CCW.) Putting the decocker on the back of the slide under the cocked indicator so the red dot cut-out can stay put and would be nice to have the cock indicator tactile with its visual. Grip sized for 10rd. mags. of TP9 so all TP9 mags will work (especially with mag sleeves.) Giving us a budget, small, safe, CCW that can be modified into a full sized range gun by incorporating into it a longer barrel with compensator and grip leverage with a longer 20rd. mag and sleeve. The grip is the printing in CCW not the barrel and with a mag change it will improve the recoil handling of the gun after the initial double action (adrenalin) firing from retention. If one doesn't like the first pull of DA, then rack a round and its SA all day. Basically it has options to choose from like the old days with the 1911s conditions of readiness. Sig has modular but if CANiK made a TP9 SC DA, it would blow Sig out of the water without a safy or hammer needed. Most personal protection rounds are sold in 20rd boxes (2x10rd mags or 1x20rd mag) easy peasy lemon squeezy math for what to buy for mags you have.
Sir, I have a question: How it is compared with Sarsilmaz CM9 Gen2? Overall ergonomic, which gun is more bulkier? Which gun was more enjoyable to handle/shoot? I have CM9 Gen2 which is DA/SA and SA trigger pull is very nice. Can you compare triggers of these guns? Also if you had choice to carry only between these two guns: Sarsilmaz CM9 Gen 2 or TP9DA - which would you choose? Many thanks for your answers, I like your reviews very much.
I know I already watched this over at Full30 but I had to stop in and give a thumbs up and see that burnt bronze some more. I've found these pistols going for $319 online!! That's insane and just as soon as I'm back to work I'll be getting one. Thanks again for letting all of us know about this awesome little beast! Also, happy fathers day brother!
Sexy, sexy in Burnt Bronze.. Liked that 2 tone (BB lower, black slide) when you swapped slides too.
Thanks Brother! Canik USA gave the thumbs up to switching the Slides so I'm happy : )
Nice.. now to find one in each color :)
I'm thinking that this 'two-tone' effect would be a real selling 'magnet'..
Ya, they really should make one already 2 tone in these colors.. I'm gettin sooo tired of FDE and 'Nickle'..
Me too, actually. That FDE is getting dated now.
Have this gun and LOVEEEEEEEE it. The trigger "staging" ability is amazing and the reset is the best in ANY pistol. Best $360 I've ever spent!
I've own the original tp9 for 3 years and never had a single problem nice firearms
Another good review. I like how they implemented a DA/SA in a striker fire pistol. Hopefully other manufacturers will do the same.

It can be staged in 3 firing modes, depending on the individual training and dexterity of the shooter:
- One mode is in double action first shot, by decocking the pistol after racking a round in the chamber, with subsequent shots in single action (ideal stress mode for police agencies).

God Bless TURKEY they make some good guns ;) don't hate
God Bless America!!

F**k Turkey
Long live Sootch00!
Dear Canik: Glock 26 sized pistol and 33 round magazines. Thanks.
Agreed. They need a real compact-sized gun.
They have one out now and it's only going to be a matter of time until promag starts making mags for it
SOOTCH! Thanks for bringing truly "fair and balanced" reviews and remaining apolotical, in the face of adversity. He it is that does go with you brother!
sootch in beast mode!
Lol! Thanks Cory!
Looks great love it now just have to find one. Thanks sootch for spending my money my wife is pissed. Lol
I can wait to see your video on SAR9 mm sir :) Great video by the way.
You got to do a review on the ruger SR9E. The American made budget gun. Thanks.
Bought one today from AIM Surplus for $319.00 with free shipping. Can't beat that with a stick!
Man with the Golden Gun
Me thinks Sootch likes the Canik!
Man that thing has a low bore axis. Looks like a dream to shoot.
A pronounciation note:
In turkish letter C pronounced as J or G as in John or G.I.
Nice, pistols, all models.
But still haven't bought one yet,...I'll soon have to correct that.
Thanks for the video Sootch!
Thanks for watching Reg! I don't think you'll be disappointed.
which Glock would the size be most comparable to? Interested in a concealed carry. My Glock 23 crazy big on my frame.
Excellent video, thanks for the detailed review
With the DA Canik finally got me. They 1st Gen was so awful I never thought I'd buy one. Even the SA was a ok shooter with a sweet trigger but that rounded slide was too big and not flat. I got an mc28 just to see how it would hold up and it's a tank. Not a crappy cz clone.
Nice review. I have wanted a Canik just to play with but I avoid fullsize guns because if I really like it, I will want to carry it. I already have fullsize guns that have become "save queens". But I still want one.
GREAT REVIEW ! thank you!
as always another great review on a great pistol
I have the SF and love it great gun
My V2 from the factory has a dovetail adjustable front sight not pinned in.
Recoil spring assembly has been on backorder for almost 2 months
I know I already watched this over at Full30 but I had to stop in and give a thumbs up and see that burnt bronze some more. I've found these pistols going for $319 online!! That's insane and just as soon as I'm back to work I'll be getting one. Thanks again for letting all of us know about this awesome little beast! Also, happy fathers day brother!
Thanks for watching again! That's a high compliment : )
nice review of an affordable gun...hope that you find a way to "tighten up" the groups
