He's an acting marvel, gaining well-deserved recognition, at least among his piers, and not a few fans like me. But his natural humanity and warmth shine even as he climbs the heights. A rare thing today.
He's an absolute gem of an actor. It was a crime he wasn't in the recent Oscar mix for "All of Us Strangers" - a beautiful, gut punch of a film where he and Mescal were achingly stunning. I adore Andrew. He has a lot of great things ahead of him and I CAN NOT wait to see Ripley and everything else ahead of him.
I'm so sorry he lost his Mum as they were very close - its such a loss. He is such a lovely intelligent sensitive articulate guy and talented actor on stage and screen. Good luck to you Andrew. If he wants to do a musical he should work with Jessie Buckley they would be a great combo.
Glad they touched on his other work, including "All of Us Strangers" -- what an incredible film; deserved much more awards season attention. Looking forward to this new version of Ripley!
Yes, it is truly a great film, wonderful, heartbreaking work from Scott and the rest of the cast (Paul Mescal, Claire Foy, Jamie Bell) and director/writer Andrew Haigh. And I'm glad they spent some time on his outstanding stage career; most TV interviews in this country -- especially brief ones -- tend to focus exclusively on TV and film.
What a lovely interview, they seemed really relaxed and it was more like a fluid conversation. I’m just in awe with Andrew, what an interesting beautiful person he is. So funny, polite, intelligent, hansom and likeable
I always compare and contrast him with Gillian Murphy. You can be a great actor. Deep dive into a role. Be accessible to your audience in interviews. Be charming, funny, open and present. Gillian isn't any of those attributes. For some reason I can't fathom. Andrew nails it every time.
What a lovely relaxed interview, bright and knowing and deep. With wonderful clips. Andrew Scott should have been on the Oscar list - but clearly far too good for the Oscar cronyism. Onwards and upwards my favourite actor. (Take no notice; his Hamlet is the best I have ever seen....and I have seen far too many! Find it if you can and be impressed by the modernity of the play and it's relevance)
Ripley is utterly superb. I usually avoid black and white shows but this was just perfect. I loved all her Ripley books and also the Matt Damon movie but this is just outstanding.
I loved Ripley because having lived in Italy for 20 years it was great to see the wonderful coastal towns that resonate so much with me and,to hear all the Italian songs I grew to love that helped me learn Italian and hearing the language that grew close to my heart.I think and talk to myself in Italian, much more beautiful than English! Also I grew up in Dublin with a lisp and my name is Patricia! My paesano Andrew Scott played a brilliant Ripley, bravo bravissimo 👌👏👏👏
I've only seen him as a psychopath and was worried that he'd be a little typecast. I need to branch out and see more of his films. He is chilling in Ripley, many long wordless sequences where he is able to convey so much. What's incredible is him doing that role at 46.
A wonderful actor and a delightful, articulate and sensitive human being, with seemingly very little ego for an actor with such success and acknowledgement t. After watching this, I've got a huge crush.
So glad he's continued to get high profile/popular roles after Sherlock. Seems perfectly delightful. Clearly puts people at ease, despite "terrifying" them 😂
Loved the interview; look for his work in various mediums; quick note for the person who said he won the Olivier, he did not-Mark Gatiss won for Motive and the Cue; had a hard choice this year who to root for in that category, Mr. Gatiss, Mr. Scott or David Tennant in MacBeth; two Sherlock & a Doctor Who actor, 2of my favorite shows. 🤗🤗❤️❤️🥰🥰
I rarely binge watch except Bad Sisters, Normal People and now this Ripley. I found it riveting - a masterpiece (except ridiculous amount of time in one episode finishing off Dickie). Fascinating the great divergence of opinions! Crowds are flocking to Atrani and some locals not pleased. I can sure they'll also be a rush on musuems that have a work of Caravaggio
Utterly and totally outstanding... never since Coppolla`s masterpiece ( no, not that one ...the one with the flaming palms and rotars yeah ) have i seen something so equisitely above everything else...omg
Ripley's such a dreadful character: it took a while to get over how perfectly wicked Damon was in the role. Blast it, but I'll not miss seeing Scott have at it.
I don't know why the sentence 'scott grew up gay' is so amusing to me but it's a very odd way of putting it. Maybe it doesn't sound so until I offer the equivalent 'John Lennon grew up straight'. It's odd. No judgement. Just surprise.

Have you seen him in sea wall? It's 34 minutes long on RUclips, absolutely devastating. Wonderful too.
@@comradeabby3141Sea Wall - the film, in RUclips, is incredible
Agreed His Oscar snub was a disgrace!
Scott is the most exciting actor since ...well...in a very long time!

I love seeing Scott interviewed - he comes across as such an open and generous interviewee!
Such a talented lad. He has won that Olivier since this was recorded.
Andrew Scott is by far the scariest Tom Ripley among Alain Delon and Matt Damon. Great actor for the role.
I completely love this actor what a talented charming and honest man. Bravo
One of the best actors of our time! Such an empathetic role model

He crushed it in "Fleabag". What a great role!
I get the impression that Andrew makes a great first date. So relaxed and engaging and forthcoming.
I saw Vanya in the cinema and I'm so glad I did. It's a spectacular performance.

This is really great interview, it really is personal without being invasive.
He's a brilliant actor!!
He’s an amazing actor.
Andrew actually has a very nice singing voice; he sang On Raglan Road in the movie 'The Stag.' It's very sweet, you can see it on RUclips.
He sang in Vanya, too. Heart rending but beautiful.
The show did not disappoint!!! He is incredible
He was perfect for the part. Hope for 2nd season
Andrew Scott is such a great actor and a charismatic person
Nice interview. If you've watched any of his other ones, almost none of the information is new, but it's warm and conducted well:)
Great Actor! Love him as Moriarty in Sherlock on PBS.
He is really on another level, like Hopkins or Burton.
God Bless you and your family. Love your acting Just finished watching Ridley. Love it! Lake Ozark
Missouri
The last episode is just breathtaking.
I just finshied to see Ripley and I loved all of it, specially Tom!! ❤❤❤
All of Us Strangers is such a spectacular performance

His Oscar is Waiting in the Wings!

Just read that Andrew Scott is 47 years old. I'm blown away, thought he was mid 30s
Loved this series.
He is so charming
he's so GOOD
He was super scary in Sherlock Holmes.
The interviewer is so pleasing….
Andrew did his best with material given to him.
Being a homosexual gave him a distinct advantage for the part.
It has helped explain some male characters I knew in my life.
Brillant series
Loved him in PRIDE. Thought he was Welshman
Ripley, the best actually
If anyone could turn me over to the other side, that would be Andrew Scott ❤
Adam is my new find after Timmy ❤
"his darkest role yet" tf are you on about CBS.
Moriarty is one of darkest criminals in literary history
His version of Tom ripley is a lot more psychopathic and vile than moriarty by far
Ripley's such a dreadful character: it took a while to get over how perfectly wicked Damon was in the role.
Blast it, but I'll not miss seeing Scott have at it.
He didn't talk at all about Ripley.
King

Still the boring series, the weird choice of actors and stairs... The pretentious crap.
I found this show mediocre and bland at times. It lacked the glamour and glory that the 1999 Anthony Mingella "The Talented Mr Ripley" adaptation had.
the lack of glamour n all is what makes the show fat better than movie. also it's much more faithful to the book.
@@nafischowdhury7375the actors were superior in the movie tho! Especially Judge Law, Matt & Philip Seymour Hoffman.
@@kcreagan9799 Andrew Scott's nuanced and compex portrayal of ripley stands out to me more compared to Matt Damon's.
