@@jahtibacollins9454 Yeah, just look up Masato Yoshii. But then he coached in may teams, including ones Ohtani, Darvish, and Senga were playing for, as well as the last WBC team Japan, so it probably doesn't mean much.
Every time I see this player I can’t help but think that a fan of this podcast created him in MLB the show, he escaped into the real world before becoming a super star. He reached rating 73, escaped, then traveled back in time played high school, college then signed with the Giants. I’m talking about OF/1B Connor Joe. 😂
I have a question for next week's episode. As I understand it, if the Mets sign a free agent who rejected a qualifying offer (such as Juan Soto), they would lose $1 million from their 'next" international signing bonus pool and $1.5 million if they sign 2 (or more) players who declined a QO. The Mets are expected to sign the #2 ranked International prospect, Elian Pena, for $5 million at the opening of the 2025 signing period on January 15. Signing Japanese pitcher Roki Sasaki would also count against their 2025 International bonus pool. If the Mets sign Juan Soto, would the "next" international signing bonus pool be 2025's or 2026's? Would it matter if the Mets didn't sign a 2025 free agent until after they had already spent their 2025 bonus pool? Of course, if Juan Soto was ready to sign in December, I don't think it would make sense to ask him to wait until January 16, but It's possible that Max Fried or another free agent might not be ready to sign until the latter part of January.
This show is becoming a great distraction/news pipeline for me during the post-season anxiety. Given the development that Lindor is stepping up and going on the trip to help plead the case to Soto, as well as countless other demonstrations of great leadership/representing the organization; why hasn't the organization placed the "C" on his jersey?
David Wright had a 126 ops+ in 2015 with a spine that was inverting within itself. Next time the bootleg Zac Efron says something blasphemous as Wright was meh during our World Series year, I will gladly post his home address.
@ @ Yes. He had a 126 ops+ , which is a very above average hitter, with a spine that was inverting on itself. He was contributing to wins with a ticking time bomb in his spine. How is this a hard concept to grasp?
@@cooldude7821 That is pure irony. You have this idea that health is a predictable ability lol. If you get a career ending injury, and still get on the field with said injury- and play 30% better than the average major leaguer en route to a World Series appearance. That is a success and a career highlight. You’re either a child or purely delusional.
@@Aqwtiny I was confusing 2015 for 2016. 2016, he only played in the first 30ish games then didn't play again. 2015, he came back in September & played. So that was my fault. My argument was a player who only plays in the first few games of the season can't have a real impact on a wildcard & playoff run to the world series. My bad.
I think you guys are underestimating Ronnie's potential. Athletic switch hitter with insane exit velos isn't easy to come by. Especially with plus speed. Jett is a small guy and may be great defensively I just don't see even double digit hr potential with his frame.
They will still go for other top caliber players if they get Soto. Why wouldn’t you want him AND whoever else they get? Is it your money? We are gonna have to mash more than last year to beat the dodgers. You think it would be better to get a bunch of mediocre pitchers instead of Soto and 1 great pitcher? Sign Alonso, Soto, snell, and a few other middle of the rotation guys. Maybe even manaea if they can get him for like 20m a year for a few years.
Best Mets Pod out there! Dare you to name another one...
Agreed, there’s some other good ones but they’re kind of immature
Oddly enough, this episode didn't show up in my IHeart feed this week.
Ask your question for the next show's mailbag below⤵
What is plan for RF if the Mets don't sign Soto? A Marte/McNeil platoon?
Could Mets Yankees turn into one of the biggest mlb rivalries based off the free agent competition every year?
The current manager of the Chiba Lotte Marines, who was Sasaki's pitching coach & mentor when he joined NPB, played for the Mets.
@@公二郎町田 is that true? That's a very interesting tid bit. I wonder if that could play a factor. Thanks for sharing.

I don't see a world where Sasaki doesn't go to the Dodgers. Which makes me sick to my stomach.

they’ll make him captain in spring

If they don’t get soto or roki they have to get burnes and alonso at least .

Why not Pete AND Adames? Vientos can DH. Remember - it wasn’t that long ago when Steve cohen was going to go all in on Correa.
Alonso the DH, Vientos is more athletic and can be a better defender than Pete.
Uncle Steve learned from his mistakes that's why.
If they don't sign Soto, maybe sign both.
throwing a 24 year old at DH is crazy
@@miketrezza because if you get Adames, you’re not getting Soto. And Adames isn’t worth the penalties to throw him in a position he’s never played.
Sasaki may be moved by the Mets' pitching lab and the Club's focus on pitcher development plus, hey, it's New York.
Do you think the Angels would get rid of Detmers? Would the Mets have interest in a buy low situation?
If they don’t get Soto or Roki though that will be disappointing
You Want Soto , pay him the most. Easy
We need crochett
I like knitting better.
We're not getting Soto. We're going to overpay Pete, Get Bieber or Beuhler, Get Goldschmit or Aranado and 3 blah relievers
