    Great video man! Seems like the 18-105 is the best run and gun lens. I was using the sigma 18-35 1.8 with the mc-11 adapter but its just way to heavy for my gimbal and also not very portable. Keep it up!

    HI - Great video. Subscribed to you today. As with all potential purchases, I like to research as much as possible. I have a Sony a6400 with a pretty basic kit lens and soon afterwards ordered the Sigma 16mm 1.4 for making talking head videos, much like yourself.This Sony lens you are featuring is very tempting. I like the sharpness and colour balance of yourself and background in your studio. Can I ask what did you use to achieve this look. Thanks.

      Hey! Glad you found my channel. For my talking heads at that time, I was using the sigma 16mm f1.4 to achieve that look with my a6500. The colors typically resulted from my background lighting and my key light in front of me!

    • @RAVisuals
      @RAVisuals  5 лет назад +1

      JaHm3sZ this is a great question and it’s something that I’ll probably cover in a future video. You ideally want to get the filter that is the same size as your lens but if you happen to have lenses with a bigger diameter then just get the biggest size you need and buy a set of “filter stepping rings” to make it fit all of your lenses. Might look a little weird but it’s a great way to save money and not have to buy multiple expensive variable Nd filters

    • @RAVisuals
      @RAVisuals  5 лет назад +1

      No problem! I shoot my slow mo at 1080p, 120fps. Then when you're in your editing software, your timeline will be a 24fps timeline (everything else I shoot is always at 24fps for the cinematic look) and you just "interpret" your footage to assume that frame rate. It will stretch your clips from 120fps to 24fps and it will be buttery smooth. Also was shooting in autofocus for all of these shots.

    • @KyleFilms
      @KyleFilms 5 лет назад

      The new 16-55mm f2.8 is sharper than the 18-105 and giving much more light and bokeh for both photo and video.

    • @RAVisuals
      @RAVisuals  5 лет назад +1

      from what ive seen, I think the 16-55 will be sharper and will giver you more capabilities in low light as well as more separation (bokeh) when shooting photo and video because of the wider aperture. Im sure the 18-105 is much cheaper though.

    How would you compare this lens to your Sigma 16 mm f1.4? Which one is better for video and photos overall? I am thinking about getting the 16mm for myself. Your suggestion/advice would mean a lot!

    • @RAVisuals
      @RAVisuals  5 лет назад +1

      It depends if you need to be able to zoom or not. The 16mm is an awesome lens which is why i own both :). If you can learn to just "zoom with your feet" then id say grab the sigma and enjoy that f1.4

    Great vid man!
    Do you think the oss on this lens is good enough? I’m currently debating if I should get an a6500 cause of the ibis or I should just stick with my a6300 and get a lens like this with oss on it? You said you use also use it on your a6000 so do you get similar if not close results with your a6500?

    • @RAVisuals
      @RAVisuals  6 лет назад +1

      Absolutely! Especially on a gimbal, this lens kills it! If you have an a6300 id suggest just getting this lens or if you're going to upgrade, wait for them new a6700 or just go full frame and get an a7III so you get better low light performance.

      Thanks for the help man! Yeah I currently have a crane 2 so I just want something that I can shoot handheld when I take it off from my gimbal. It’s kinda hard to get smooth handheld shots with a sigma 30mm so I’m getting this lens!

      @RAVisuals  6 лет назад

      Josh Soliven yeah man i use this lens on the crane 2 all the time actually! It balances just fine and i never have to take it off!

    Hello Ricky, thanks for the review. I was wondering, if i use this on my a7ii (full frame), it would become a 27-158mm zoom? Does this change if i set it on APSC mode? Cheers!

    • @RAVisuals
      @RAVisuals  5 лет назад

      yes it will! If you use this on a full frame it will have a crop factor for sure!

  • @unexpired1

    If it had f2.8 on top of all the other features.
    It would be 2.5k bucks at least

      I believe it will fit! Should be the same mount (e-mount) Your camera balance may be very front heavy but that's it.
