      @Isabella Lee In my view, this is not slow motion tennis at all. They crack the ball pretty hard, it is their defensive skills that keep the point going. In my view, slow motion tennis is like that of Wozniacki just hitting balls back and forth. Anyday I prefer these girls variety to players like ostapenko, muguruza, Wozniacki☺️

    • @jliang70
      @jliang70 5 лет назад +2

      Creative tennis means variation of spin, speed, angle, trajectory of the shots, I suggest you go out play a bit of tennis rather then be an arm chair expert here. you think it is easy to hit a low bouncing slice shots from your opponent, next hit a shot above head then try to hit a lower shot moving foreward, Talking about Graf and Coertzer or Seles , Graf still leads both in h2h even with that weak backhand.

      NO, she wasn't injured, she was just tired and remember she had to qualified for the tournament, She played two more matches to get this far. But having said Kasatkina was burdened by being the favorite going into this match, she was clearly nervous in the final playing in front of folks at home. What Kasatkina did well was surviving without playing near the level she sowed in semi.

  • @footfault1941
    @footfault1941 5 лет назад +2

    Hidden talent of Kasatkina came into play in her previous match. 21 yrs old Russian, a very unique figure in the tour, fully demonstrated her grit here. Coming back princes to be? Not bad, but there could be easier ways to close up a match. That's she'll learn & develop in coming years. Meanwhile, she'd be enjoying 2-3 hrs on court, fascinating the crowd!
    Jabeur's exhibition was the 1st set. Likes of Sabalenka or Yastremska, she can control game from the baseline. Her well-disguised drop shot is of beauty. How this 24 yrs old Tunisian will develop her game style is another relish of the tour 2019.

She played two more matches to make this far into the draw than her opponents. A injury to wrist, playing hand, knees, feet, ankles, achillies can all be considered an injury but not cramping.

    Jabeur is not an unfamiliar name. She surprised the world earlier, but since then .... Resurge ! Impressive performance in the opener, which pushed Kasatkina desperate. With encouraging words from her coach, Kasatkina fulfilled her duty for the home crowd in an emphatic in the end, but incredible way! Typical to Daria, if not classic, for 21 yrs old player, chooses a more complicate, treacherous way to victory. Looking back the season, she did similar things, or even more spectacular, against Wozniack, Kerber & Muguruza to name a few, came back from a set down 2-3 hrs on court!
    A fascinating game by both players, giving all the best!! Their way to the final was not easy or smooth at all. Well done!

    Dasha was so promising a year or two ago and I'm ecstatic she finally won her home tournament. But then she goes to Australia and loses in the first round three straight tournaments including the Australian Open. WTH! She's too talented to versatile to have scrub results like these to start the year.

    Fun match from both but was hoping Ons will be the one to take it. I think Kasatkina's game can be more than the Russian wall. She can be more on the offense given the weapons that she has. Wonder why she holds back by being a wall

      Nerve and playing scared, She had on court coaching in this match and his coach summed up Kasatkina's performance well in those pep talks. Kasatkina had a wider range of shot in her game, what sat them apart I thought would be Kasatkina ability to flatten out her forehand as well as making the ball jump up when she loaded it with heavy top spin, her return game was ineffective, she was hitting the ball short on return. This is why in the 2nd pep talk when Daria was down 1:4 in 2nd set Phillipe told her to hit her return into the middle part of the court that strategy stop giving Jabeaur the angle to work with, also allowing Daria to recover into a neutral rally position. At the beginning of the third set Phillipe said win or loss he did not just want to see Daria survive the match, he wanted Daria to go for her best shots on serve, on forehand on her backhand. I have to say Daria did not deliver in what her coach asked her to do but what got her through this match was her ability to mentally regroup, she wore down her opponent mentally and physically without playing her best. Sometimes this is what players needs to do when they are not playing at their best.

    Why do some.players still think the oponent cant sprint? Do they think they just got there by chance? And on top of it they always loose. Justice for all!

      Daria's problem is not just serving, her coach summed up her problem well in those two coaching sessions in the middle of 2nd sets and at the beginning of the third set. She was gripped by the nerve in the early part of the game, she survived the 2nd set without playing near her best. I lost count how many times she played a brilliant point but could not string a few more together to gain the upper hand, a lot of time she just hit a return that landed in middle of court with no angle, depth .

    I like Ons but she needs to improve A. her service ! its too weak B. her backhand - too many unnecessary mistakes C. her lack of condition/drive/aggression ... that said she played really well in this tournament

    I'm a big fan of Daria's and wanted her to win this one. Jabeur made me a fan too. I feel for her, she actually had this if it weren't for the conditioning aspect. She will come back stronger next time around. Congrats to BOTH ladies. Good job!
