    Hey Patrick :-). I was literally not even considering Kawaii for a new digital piano. I have always been a Yamaha person, but was also considering a Roland. Thankfully, Kawaii came onto my radar. I was always familiar with their acoustic pianos, having played several grands and uprights. I have a lot of experience with Clavinovas, less experience with Roland. I played a newer digital piano by Roland recently, and was pretty happy with the action, and elated to see wooden keys-then I discovered they are just pieces of wood on the sides. I also didn’t care for the “modeling” that they are doing... apparently Yamaha is going the same route, with more success to my ears. But I’ve been blown away by the sound of Kawaii. We’re looking to replace a 15 year old Roland at the large Catholic Church where I am the Organist/Director of Music & Liturgy. Because the choir and instruments are located in the loft, it is a bit easier to just replace the digital piano with another one. We don’t need anything but something that has a fantastic piano sound, can be run through the sound system, and has a great action and reliability. I was looking at the Kawaii CA-59, Yamaha Clavinova CLP-745, and Roland HP-704. Any opinions? Thanks!!!

    • @midnight4109
      @midnight4109 2 года назад +2

      All I can tell you is that Kawai is generally underrated and often overlooked while Yamaha digitals slightly overated if anything.

    • @Fahmbo
      @Fahmbo 2 года назад

      So I've played the 745, 59, and 704. As far as action is concerned, the 704 has no equal here. I know it's not a traditional long wood key, but it feels much more solid and so convincing. The 59 action is nice, a little softer than the others including the keybed. A little wiggle room though left to right. The 745 has middle of the road action - nice but a little stiff at the bottom. But I actually liked that.
      For your need, you cannot go wrong with the roland. Also has the best built in amplification, and just build quality is a step above.

      I've just bought a Yamaha clp 735 and I was so dissapointed because of the light, easy keyboard. I'm a classical pianist and I need a heavier keyboard. Do you think CA49 has enough heavy keyboard for such pieces?

    • @ArcticWolves
      @ArcticWolves Год назад +1

      @@stefania2365 This is why you should make every effort to try and play these pianos before buying them if at all possible. If it's in your budget drive or fly out to the piano stores that have these pianos in stock. It may seem silly but if you're going to be playing and practicing on these for many years to come then you need to make sure you are happy with how it feels. The only way to do this is either buy each and every piano on your list and return it if you don't like it or go to the stores and try each of them out.

    Huge sound quality difference between the CA49 and CA59 in this video. Thanks for pointing that out.
    I wonder though, if I would connect a CA49 to my 2 Yamaha MSP7 studio speakers, or to my 2 Yamaha HS80M studio speakers, if it would outperform the CA59, from sound output quality perspective (not taking polyphony into account).

      CA49 doesn't feature individual audio outputs.

    • @Instrumental-Covers
      @Instrumental-Covers Год назад +1

      It shouldn't for two reasons:
      1) The CA59 features the HI-XL tone generator, with longer samples (the attack portion is up to 120% longer, according to Kawai). The CA49 features a less sophisticated engine, the PHI.
      2) Speakers for digital pianos are calibrated for piano sounds, both in the presentation of the sound and the sound field they produce. Studio monitors are just for the person sitting in front of them at a close distance. Two different sound fields. The CA59 features two woofers in a large box under the piano firing down, and two full range speakers firing up in the upper (main) box delivering the mid to high range frequencies. It attempts to imitate a soundboard sound field dispersion.
      Studio monitors offer a presentation of the sound intended for mixes. It will be an accurate image, but for people sitting in the room away from the studio monitors, it is a different story.
      But as the other commented pointed out, the CA49 doesn't have line out anyway.

  • @CaptainCaveman782

    personal I find it appalling that the 49 doesn't have Bluetooth audio . I live in China and my $400 Chinese piano has it and 50watt speakers, graded hammers. I also have 256 polyphony. I've 1500+ hours on it no issues whatsoever.
    Any modern bargin basement $100 processor should handle 256 polyphony. it's just a way for kawai to make a distinct difference between models and justify several sales lines.

      @The_Invisible_Man It's very possible that the touch settings might have been different on the CA59 so the best thing to do before going to any piano store is watch all the videos of factory resetting each piano on your list. This way each piano will boot up in their default sounds and won't have any of the settings changed, especially touch sensitvity settings.

  • @OnlineMD

    Uhhh, I really could not tell any difference in the piano sounds of the CA49 and CA59; I suspect this is because the sounds are recorded on your video camera using a line-out. So a buyer really needs to put their hands and ears on a digital piano before deciding to buy. The CA59 is $3100. As for me, I'm more than happy with my $1600 Kawai ES920 (which I got from Alamo) plus $270 for the stand I had to get elsewhere. The keys felt pretty heavy at first but in just a month I've gotten used to the key weight.

You can attach any 60 $ midi keyboard to it and get this amazing sounding piano. The. The only difference left is speaker quality and feel of the action and keys. But Kawai is known to beat VSTs and it’s more work to set it up since you need a PC with good 5-80 GB storage, RAM and CPU. • @batner
      @batner 3 года назад +2

      @@ginoeelen6374 Not true. Polyphony numbers are published as a selling point. Stereo samples are a standard on my old clunky casio px-310 from 2006. The number itself can be used as a possible hint about the processing power increase over generations of an instrument. If the declared polyphony grew from CA-58 to CA-59 that means that their main board got a CPU power upgrade. Whatever the upgrade was, your old home PC is probably 10 times more capable. Dexibell for example took a different path, they don't limit polyphony at all. They also provide more details about their instrument patches, like number of samples per key, sampling rate and bit depth of the samples and internal audio engine.

    Kawai makes great DP's.
    Both models have the same keys and damper system - which are top notch.
    Both use the same piano sound engine - again top notch.
    Both use the Piano Technician app.
    Both use the same subwoofers.
    The difference in price gets you 2 extra DSP effects: Undamped String Resonance + Cabinet Resonance
    It also gives you 4 extra parameters in Piano Technician
    You get more than double the voices but if you only play piano, then it's just a gimmick
    You get better tweaters that are pointed upwards with 8 watts more power.
