The first collection of essays in the book I really enjoyed and found interesting, but around midway through the book it all started to feel jumbled. Maybe I don’t have the intellectual capacity for the way Hong writes, but at times it felt like she was trying to be so profound it almost became meaningless. Do you ever find yourself re-reading a sentence over and over trying to understand it? I kept doing that. There were parts where I just didn’t know what I was reading about. This isn’t a slight on the subject matter, because it was something I was super interested to read about, or the author herself. It was more to do with me not being able to follow her writing. 🤷🏼♀️

I have also heard others say the same thing about the second half. When I first started reading it, I also found it difficult to see what direction she was going in. I love these Sunday morning vlogs - such a treat! 😊 Edited to add - when I get a tricky knot in a necklace I use a very fine needle, put it through one of the links and wiggle it, it usually works well and so satisfying when you get it untangled!
i second that! i once stepped in one of my chains and the knots were horrendous it took me 2 days to detangle until i sad down with a 🧷 poked it around for around 20mins and tadaaa
Hi Brittany! I just wanted to tell you that you have inspired me to start running again. I used to love running but stopped because I was battling an eating disorder and was quite ill. I've recovered now and I'm finally at a point where I am able to run because it feels good and not because of anything else. Thank you so much for all your tips on running and your positivity!

The garden has grown beautifully. Love the loungers Dean built. As soon as I saw the Nike sandals I felt the strap started to high on the foot, the ankle strap appears high as well.
Your bedtime sounds really reasonable , I guess cause that’s around the time I start dozing off lol I struggled getting through a few books past few months, those that were highly recommended. When you can’t connect with the story and characters, it can be hard to even finish. The Deveau yellowish dress is lovely The urban heat island effect is always going to make city centres like London feel hotter than normal. The garden looks so good. You might consider drying the poppies since they don’t last long. I don’t actually know much about flower drying but imagine it could be fun lol
Walking sandal recommendation - Bedrock Sandals. I did all my hiking in them last summer and absolutely loved them! Great support and don't hate the look.
I love the detangling necklace - I'm impressed! I have to use straight pins on a hard surface. Love the sandals and the garden too. And fashion. All very enjoyable.
From what I remember from previous vlogs, Dean is very creative and good with his hands. Great quality in a man in my opinion 👏 I also really like the fact that unlike many partners who are over enthusiastic to appear in their partners vlogs, he makes occasional cameo but otherwise stays in the background and does his thing. I agree with the others, we don't need more of an update than this on you and Dean, lovely to hear things are going well! Would also like to chime in on the running while dehydrated, my last THREE runs have been awful. I've been dehydrated, tired and have had completely the wrong thing to eat the night before. Been feeling like shit and I just think it's so nice of you to share your bad runs as well, hehe, made me feel less alone. And then it's also just inspiring to see that your next runs went well! Makes me feel less anxious about my next run. Will be keeping in mind to stay hydrated... AND ANOTHER THING I got really bad black nails early in February, and they had been hurting my toes this last month. They do take ages to grow out it's ridiculous. Anyway, I went to podiatrist, and my god, she changed my life. So! If it bugs you a lot and you experience pain, don't just wait it out. Was my first time that I got a foot massage done professionally as well so I think that's why I'm so blown away. That was super super long, really sorry, anyway, love your vlogs and your content! You always find a way to make me smile! xx
I loved Out! One of the best books I've read in the past few years. The Penguin Vintage Classics Collection, which it's part of, is amazing. The Housekeeper and the Professor is another really wonderful story in that collection with a beautiful cover

In terms of running in the heat, I always try to go in the evening as long as it isn't too humid out. I find that the sun in the morning can be bothersome at times. Thanks for motivating me to want to get back and moving again.

Another hype title that I do hope I will like.

I relate so much to all the running chat in this vlog! Cannot acclimate to the heat... and have the same reaction to the headspace runs! They almost move me to tears and I too wish I could write things down! I would highly recommend some of the other guided (non headspace) runs on the nike app too. Coach bennett is great.

I know exactly what you mean re running go through this every summer. As you say it’s the inconsistency of our weather if it was hot for four months straight eventually you acclimatise. But not here in the UK! I just try to relax about running in the summer. It feels hard because it is harder. I reduce mileage massively and head to woody/shady areas where possible.
To get the knot out take a safety 🧷 pin open it up and use two of them . The pointy ends of the safety pin will help losen the chain up when u use them to pull it apart aslo place the chain on the table when your doing this. Sounds hard to explain but u will get it . I hope good luck.

I live on a boat and do a lot of walking in the countryside - I bought the Hi tech Ula Raft sandals in all black and they’re great! Also soo sweet video and nice to hear that things seems good with you and Dean :) Regarding the hiking sandals, i was looking for similar last year but it was difficult and because of covid i paused the hunt. I would love to see more try-out regarding this! i tried teva hurricane but the shape on the foot was really strange (the toes went up in the air a bit if you understand) and also had a hard battle to accept and find something that was more "cool nerdy" hiking and not 70+ comfort sandals look..
8.21.... I learned a few years ago that if you do suffer from bad seasonal allergies, investing in and ingesting local honey in your diet more often can help build immunity. So, by ordering a cocktail with flowers, you might make your hayfever less severe. Good for the bee community and your allergies! if anyone else knows more about this please share :)

You could try Chacos for walking sandals. They have a hiking shoe sole and take a little breaking in, but are fantastic otherwise.

Thank you! ❤️ Usually I’m not an early riser and would go for a run around 8.30, but because the sunrise starts around 4.30am it makes getting up and getting out there earlier so much easier. 🙌🏻

The book that I though was overhyped was "Klara and The Sun". I was crawling my way to the finish line. Ugh. I just read "American Dirt". (So much controversy around it but I loved it just as much as "Pachinko" did it for me. I am reading "Song of Achilles" now and it is lovely. The next title in my TBR is "The Other Black Girl". Another hype title that I do hope I will like.

I totally sympathize with the walking sandal search - in the US, Chaco is the reigning brand, but I find that they fit best when you have high arches. I personally love my Tevas. Hugs from Colorado
I relate so much to all the running chat in this vlog! Cannot acclimate to the heat... and have the same reaction to the headspace runs! They almost move me to tears and I too wish I could write things down! I would highly recommend some of the other guided (non headspace) runs on the nike app too. Coach bennett is great.

I'm excited to try the Nike Run Club headspace runs!! Thanks for the recommendation :) I'm starting to train for a race and hopefully those headspace recordings will help me get through the longer runs 😅
I know exactly what you mean re running go through this every summer. As you say it’s the inconsistency of our weather if it was hot for four months straight eventually you acclimatise. But not here in the UK! I just try to relax about running in the summer. It feels hard because it is harder. I reduce mileage massively and head to woody/shady areas where possible.
Merrell for any walking shoe needs. Great for mountain hiking. Light, durable and comfortable.
To get the knot out take a safety 🧷 pin open it up and use two of them . The pointy ends of the safety pin will help losen the chain up when u use them to pull it apart aslo place the chain on the table when your doing this. Sounds hard to explain but u will get it . I hope good luck.

I live on a boat and do a lot of walking in the countryside - I bought the Hi tech Ula Raft sandals in all black and they’re great! A little more aggressive looking than the ones you picked but I feel a little more modern. So soft on foot and yet durable.✌🏻

Also soo sweet video and nice to hear that things seems good with you and Dean :) Regarding the hiking sandals, i was looking for similar last year but it was difficult and because of covid i paused the hunt. I would love to see more try-out regarding this! i tried teva hurricane but the shape on the foot was really strange (the toes went up in the air a bit if you understand) and also had a hard battle to accept and find something that was more "cool nerdy" hiking and not 70+ comfort sandals look..
I bought a pair of keen uneek OG sandals, they are meant for hiking , been loving it everyday! Walking all day, they fits great and looks good too :)

8.21.... I learned a few years ago that if you do suffer from bad seasonal allergies, investing in and ingesting local honey in your diet more often can help build immunity. So, by ordering a cocktail with flowers, you might make your hayfever less severe. Good for the bee community and your allergies!
