Thanks for this range test. I too highly considered the Metacycle until the real world tests came out. Decided to wait for the Ryvid Anthem, but then the Fuell Fllow is also showing promise with a claimed 150mile range.
I will gladly pay $10k for 150mile range on the Fllow, but not $20k as the Zero E-Motos are commanding for thes same 150 mile range.

Same thoughts. I had preordered the metacycle but cancelled when more details were revealed showing that they removed features. I'm now holding out for the Fllow and placed a preorder. Erik Buell has made and raced performance motorcycles for decades, so the level of experience he brings to the table gives me more confidence that everything about that motorcycle will be well engineered and manufactured, no cheap or poor designed components (their e-bike is crazy expensive, but absolutely well designed and solid). The fact that it will have more storage than a typical scooter, but the acceleration of a super bike makes it a no brainier for someone who wants to actually have fun driving to work everyday. $10,000 is pretty typical price for a good new motorcycle so it's not priced into absurdity like Zero and I will pay the extra money to have a motorcycle that is really highway capable and carefully crafted instead of the cheaper metacycle.

Zero and energica have been out for years now.. for some small company or even big company (unless it’s tesla) to come out and surpass them seems a bit of hopeful thinking. These companies are years ahead and they aren’t breaking any records.. you should probably save a bit and get a used zero. Or wait years for some company to come short on a concept.

Unfortunately, the Metacycle has never lived up to hype. The actual bike will cut out unexpectedly in sport mode leaving you dangerously speed limited to 60 mph on the freeway. The 20 mile range is a joke at highway speeds and there is no service and support from Sondors. Bottom line, avoid this bike - there are better options available.

Great review as I am reviewing possible options for an E-Motorcycle for Spring 2023. I have to have at least 65 miles per hour regular speed in this area of Kansas between work and home --approximately 40 miles one way. Thanks for all you do on both this channel and the Tesla Times News channel. Keep up the great work. I really do enjoy the product that you and your team put out week after week.

Good Video! Sondors exceeded my expectations as they always do with their ebikes. I've got almost 1000 miles on mine and I think I will probably be the 1st to get there. I commute about 10 miles on the freeway with another 3 miles of surface streets. There is no funner and cheaper way to do it. I am saving about $300 a month in fuel. However, The seat took about 3-4 days of riding to get used to it now I could ride all day. The thing about Metacycle is just like their 1st ebike, It started out 350 Watt 36 Volt 8.8AH Battery. It only took a couple years to go from that to 48 Volt 750 watts 17.5AH battery (Doubled the size in a couple years ) This Metacycle is capable of so much more than the way it is configured now and that is what helps make it so desirable for me. By the time some of the competitors bikes finally hit the market, Metacycle will have surpassed them by far. And the battery? The battery takes 2 min to swap that's pretty "Hot" There is an adapter coming for faster charging amongst a whole bunch of other cool accessories. There will most likely be a retrofit for faster easier battery swapping and hopefully a new seat. I priced having mine customized wider and fluffier in the middle $950.

I just bought one and love it. It’s a 50/50 bike…50 mph for a 50 mile range. I get this result consistently. And at 7000 dollars they’re giving them away. That’s chump change. You want more serious parameters plan on spending 25,000 plus 3000 for the charging station installed in your garage. I had Corbin make me a custom seat. A good helmet is 1000 dollars so 7K for this great “about town” ride is great. I have 2 e-bike bicycles and each one cost way more than the Metacycle.

I am scheduled to receive my Metacycle in about 9-hours from now. Received a call from a gal who is driving the semi and is to arrive at my home around 9:30a today. I’m happy to finally receive it but disappointed in the numbers you report. But for my $5K (and shipping cost) I think it is was a good deal. I mean, my Sondors LX was $3K. I think the worst part so far has been the wait, which thankfully is about over.

@@mcraven747 It does ride well and is a blast to ride. Sport mode does give you the extra boost in speed and I’ve had it up to 73-75 mph, which is crazy fast for no bigger and heavier than the Metacycle is. Everything just works as it should. The plastic door to the phone compartment could have been sturdier as it has quite a bit of play to the left and right once opened. It does charge my iPhone 13 Pro Max as advertised. That said, that iPhone is as large as the compartment will allow. In fact I have to remove my thin protective case for it to fit. But yes, the bike itself is solid and rides like a dream!

Great video guys! The in-depth review by Ethan was by far the best and most honest review I’ve seen on this product anywhere in RUclips (and completely turned me away from considering purchasing). Was wondering if you guys know of or are considering purchasing a Ryvid Anthem. In my opinion, it’s the direct competitor to the Metacycle, but actually aims to meet and exceed the promises this bike fell short on. Don’t know if you guys are in the position to also purchase the Anthem, but a head to head comparison video from a channel with such transparency and honesty would be amazing. Keep up the great work guys! 👍🏽

Agree, the Metacycle is just a baby step above an e-pedal bike or moped...sadly. I was also considering the Ryvid Anthem, but now highly considering the r/FuellFllow e-Moto. It's looking promising with claimed specs.

    • @JessNavaG
      @JessNavaG Год назад

@@indetrucks I’ve seen some coverage for
the bike you’re talking about. Looks awesome and the specs are promising. But you’re bumping up the price point by another $3,000+ for a much more capable bike with more range. I ended up, pulling the trigger to be a lunch addition adopter of the Ryvid Anthem and for my use case, it’s at the right price point for a daily commuter and swappable batteries. Been actually considering posting some videos once I take delivery. But this is an awesome and exciting EV space that is growing very quickly. Hopefully competing brands keep trending in the right direction.😬🤞🏽

Still excited to get mine, I have a delivery window of Jan 11 to Feb 11! The range is disappointing but I hold out hope that Sondors or a 3rd party will come out with either a lvl 2 adapter or extended range battery for the tank void hopefully both. That would really open up the possibilities for this bike. I may even try to come up with something myself because all components are pretty much off the shelf, easily accessible, and modifiable if you have the skills.

Sondors is by far the most unscrupulous company I've ever worked with. Everything is a lie. I've seen people who ordered after get their bike before. They have promised everything and delivered nothing. Unpainted aluminum frame, burn, 200lbs, burn, 80mph, burn, 80mi range, burn, easy swap battery, burn, level 2 charging, burn, ABS breaks, burn, rechargeable breaking, burn, even the burns have burns, like 3rd degree burns. Freddy Krugar couldn't handle the burns. The nightmare that is sondors is the battery dying 29.5 miles into your ride, while it putters out on Elm St.

I would love something like this as a commuter, but the thing is I already have a Honda PCX which is cheaper, can go 70 mph, has a huge dealer/parts network, has lockable underseat storage, has a far more comfortable seat based on the reviews of the metacycle, and has that amazing Honda build quality. It would be neat to go electric, but that is a huge amount of downsides and just look at that phone compartment, it seems incredibly flimsy, much less the already broken turn signal.

    Hello Zack and Jesse
Will you do a review on the Landmoto District as a comparison to the Metacycle?
Your current Metacycle range review talks about all the things that Landmoto is currently doing and have plans to do.
From further research on the product and company, I have asked them the most important questions that will interest you.
1)Will the district in the future? ever charge from EV charging stations
2)Will there be a re-gen setting for the district?
    This is the response:
1)We will offer an adapter in the future, but why go to a charging station when you can charge from any standard outlet?
    2) Yes, we will enable it in the future.
Do you think that this would be an interesting review?

It's funny...most of the comments on this video are thumbs down to the Metacycle...but if you go to another video it's 100s of pro-metacycle comments becuase of the tone of each video. Why people think 6 or 7000 dollars is "too much for what you get" is just so weird to me. Look, the Metatcycle, rode on surface streets at and average of 45 miles per hours will give you 50 miles on a single charge. For me, 30 miles is a ridiculously long ride. I live in a waterfront resort town, once mile from the center...the entire town is probably 3 square miles (super nice tourist destination on the Chesapeake Bay) so this thing is prefect for me. I have a very slight build (145 lbs.) and this bike is nimble, light, easy to park in my tiny garage, I didn't need to install a 3000 dollar charging station. I have a bicycle carrier that it fits on (yup, a bicycle carrier...the kind that goes into a tow hitch) and I take it to the beach when we go so I can have it there, or any where. This video is good. But it's pretty negative, hence all the negative comments. I will say this...go to the Metacycle Facebook Page or other RUclips videos where people own these and you'll see nothing but love. Just saying. And BTW, I get 50/50 all the time when I try to max out my bike. I can average 45-50 mph for 50 mile range consistently. Perhaps it's my weight? It's definitely not a 'big man's' bike haha.

I always thought they should add an extended battery in the void (space), and either black it out or make it an opaque mirrored shell to reflect light and the surrounding area. Possibly the L2 charger could be shoe-horned in where the phone goes, and place a phone mount on the handlebars. I liked your idea of spring-loaded turn indicators... maybe replace the broken plastic arm with black flex tape over springs to cover them and the wiring... make it a modification of your own! :) regardless.... looks like you-all are enjoying it overall.

I just don’t see how I could make this work, and I’m very open to electric stuff. For the city kind of thing mentioned here, I have an electric unicycle. If I were getting into a more highway kind of mode, I’d need much more than 30 miles of range. At the cost of this, I can’t see why I wouldn’t just buy a gas motorcycle. I’d really need at least 100 miles of freeway or near freeway speed to consider this type of thing and the ability to charge quickly at publicly available stations. I’m not calling around looking to stop off at somebody’s house or hanging out at Starbucks for 4 hours, that’s absurd.

As an owner of two years , of an electric motorcycle, I can tell ya the fault in your test journey. Any battery is always most powerful at fullest charge. Short charging it, depletes far faster. I know this from tested experience, riding long distance. Definitely a commuter bike. Nonetheless, very good review.

Apart from the frame it’s made up of off the shelf parts, the controller can be modified or swapped easily but it’s heavily restricted by not having much space to upgrade the battery capacity. Unfortunately a poorly designed, sold on the hype 125cc equivalent electric bike. Poor use of space within the frame and only a 4kwh battery (3.2kwh usable) even at a generous 12 miles per kWh 38 miles will be the average range.
There are much better 125cc equivalent electric bikes out there for les money too. The omission of level 2 charging could be added by adapting the charger but it would still be at the slow rate of the supplied charger.

NO NO NO!!! I love Now you Know channel and really like the info you provide people... but for this video, everything is wrong. Promoting electronification is something I agree with, promoting low quality, deceptive items is something completely different, and that I STRONGLY oppose. Yes, you did good tests and provided information... but you say "nocked it out of the park with looks, enjoyment, quietness" LOOKS: not a feature, and design probably creates more drag. This is subjective, was the bike built for looks or for use? If built for looks, sacrificing use, then this is a negative. ENJOYMENT: is this simply going fast on 2 wheels? I enjoy riding my ICE motorcycle. Is it enjoyable to be told 80 mile range then 60 mile range then ride and get 30mile range? Other than the quietness, which you listed separately, what is enjoyment... riding back country roads? Any ICE or EV has that. Is the hard seat "enjoyment"? What specific to this bike does a better job creating enjoyment from any other product? QUIETNESS: all electric transportation is more quiet than ICE, so is this something created by the bike design, is this something that this brand designed / developed / implemented with riders in mind....NO. This is like saying you should like the stability of 4 wheel vehicles as having 4 wheels is a feature! Complete nonsense. This brand promoted 1 thing, then sold another, and doesn't even live up to that. No level 2 charging with range this bad, low quality parts that are easily broken, the #1 most viewed and used component the phone space is terrible quality..... yet I hear.. nocked it out of the park... fun... for urban around town commuting... WHAT motorcycle is not good for that? It is is like you made up compliments to have the pros and cons columns have the same amount of items in each, which does a disservice to people and to electrification. When a product does not live up to what is supposed to be, make it clear, make it loud, let all know of other better options available. Really and truly disappointed with the end of your review. Some are biased to ICE, some are biased to electric, why not be objective and honest... is this a good bike, or even good value.... NO.

Seat isn't cushioned - I'm 180 and the seat goes immediately flat under my ass and now I'm sitting on metal. And now the word on the street is that Sondors will file for bankruptcy and close up shop, leaving zero support for these bikes - as if Sondors ever provided much after-sale support to begin with.
