Thanks for the tour. Such a cool room and selection of species. I think spawning Cyathopharynx in a 4' tank, without heavy losses, is pretty impressive.
Thank you very much, glad you like the room! Yeah I was worried about that when I got them but the aggression really has been spread out among all the fish in that tank.
Really cool, how about sending a box full over to the USA? You are seriously killing it on the supply side, I like everything you have. So, I see your stocking levels and they are high and admittedly mine are low at the moment, but I don't play the water change game my aquarium water is good and stays that way. So imagine my Rod Serling Twilight Zone reference if you will... The water comes into the container, say sump, or plastic bin... The way I do it is I have rocks/structure piled to the top of the aquarium and on top of that is the plastic bin filled with lava rocks and stuff with tropical house plants rooted in the water..oh, there is a powerhead type pump which fills the plastic bin and (here is a very important word for the process) the bin fills up and Decants over the top back into the aquarium. For your system it is too much flow to do it online cause it would flush the water through, you want to slow it down for treatment, maybe take about 20 percent offline to divert to treatment, that 20 percent if it takes like 2 hours to return to the main flow would treat your water like 6 times a day and yes some of the water would be treated twice before some even started but it all works out over time.
So I have had a Seriously well stocked 75 gallon tank with breeding groups of lemon yellow Lepidochromis and Aulonocara strawberry peacocks with adults and off spring like inch and a half, different sizes really but like a hundred fish right, and I wasn't changing a lot of water, yes sometimes and good amounts but not more than every 3 months for sure. I would clean my filter, you know the plastic bin with rocks and plant roots, there was brown sludge, a bunch of roots that could be thinned out and on the bottom was black granules that smelled of earth. My point is this... hold some water back and let it filter through sand and or lava rocks and the best filter is plant roots and it's not the roots really but it is the fungus that lives symbiotically with the roots that is a better filter than the highest count pillow fiber fill... My point is slow some water, make it go through the most structure and the cleanest water decants over the top as slow as can be because the solids in the water are either suspended or dissolved (technically either or) but realistically anything in between and don't forget we have it All formationing (yes, my word) into MULM at the same time.
Awesome room mate. You clearly know what you are doing. Do you have any experience with Synodontis in your Tanganyikan biotope tanks? I see very little content on them and thinking they will be much nicer than bristlenose with cichlids.
Hey Jason, the fish room is looking fantastic 😊
Thanks heaps John, really appreciate it 👍
Beautiful fish and set up, great work
Thank you very much! Glad you like it 👍
Hard work pays off. Beautiful room
Thanks for the update !
The male calliurus is very nice.
And obviously the similis too.
Not a problem! Glad you liked them 👍

Love your fish mate - what a setup! I crave Calvus!
Hello Jason, your fish room is an Emporio Armani shop. Love your commitment to the hobby.
Looking good as always Jason. Nice for you to post an update.
Looking like you need to move some on in club auctions etc as you usually do.🙂👍

If you're in Sydney come to the NSW Cichlid Society. They meet the first Saturday of each month.
