I remember Spider being 'kinda' controversial since released of 2.1, but now they're used to it. Maybe they can do the same with the Swing aswell.

Yeah, I mean, the same happened with the robot and spider. People were complaining that they were nearly the same as the cube and ball.
I feel like the swingcopter’s low gravity opens up a lot of interesting gameplay possibilities, and I really like it for that.
And it can just be changed with the gravity trigger.

The swingcopter is an underrated gamemode, it’s unfortunate to see it not being used and being overlooked
It’s unused because platformer never used it and 90% of 2.2 levels are Platformer so swing copter was added when platfroemr was here so it’s super rare to see in gd unless it’s a random featured level which isnt platformer which is 0.0001% of all featured levels.. it was so robbed 😔

I think the swingcopter will revolutionize the game's skill set, players just need time to adjust to the gamemode.
it sucks on 60hz though cause its so floaty

As we go on with gd, swingcopter will be used more, but people aren’t used to it, so they don’t like it. I think it is a good game mode, but some think otherwise.
I literally hate swing copter it was annoying to play with but when i was playing gdps for while i started to get used to it and now i love it

2:30 I am so glad to hear this happen! Literally the ONLY reason people hated this level to death was just because of the decoration alone (which I thought looks good) so hopefully they can finally shut up about it!

swing copter is refreshing and fun when you get used to it. it's like a ship and ball in 1 mode

the issue is less with swing itself but more so with the update being too large, hell the creators are barely using the reverse feature in the way subzero had. really just proves that swing and subzero content shouldve just been its own update released like 5 years ago

i feel like the more we use it, the better people will become at making gameplay for it, and it will become more fun
Matoswag is a really good and underrated creator imo. I love his 3d designs he just makes like that, maybe shoulsve gotten nominated in the awards
it’s the worst because it’s name is the Swing but my muscle memory says “Swingcopter.”
The swing isnt bad, its just Its not revolutionary.
Weve got 8 gamemodes now and the swing doesnt do anything that really stands out from the others. We need to give it time for people to figure out how to make interesting gameplay with it and accept it as a GD gamemode. After all the UFO caught on.
There's this small debate whether swing should be treated as a ufo or a ship gameplay.
to me i kinda always associated ship with wave and ufo with swing, just because ship and wave are hold based and ufo and swing are click based

i think the swing sucks because its really hard to make good gameplay with it, like you cant exactly use orbs or gravity portals with it because you cant see if youll go up or down, and without them you can only really make boring block and spike gameplay. the wave also has that problem but it controls really well in contrary to the swing.
If you aren't clicking a ton, then its pretty easy to tell what gravity you are on
That is my problem too. Gravity changes so slow that you can't make interesting gameplay with it. If you don't use any orbs then it will just be strightfly.

Answer: no, people just suck at it, and hard = bad
I think the problem isn't within the gamemode itself,but just like the dual,the problem is with how people are using the game modes to create gameplay,since the dual is very complicated and the swing is very new.robtop used the swing perfectly by making it's gameplay more curved,while people are already making spam based levels,just like how robtop correctjy used the dual,it didn't require much skill and just needed to be memorized,but levels from the community were either to bland by making semetric duals,or were too unsightreadable and required precision at the same time

Personally I like the swing gamemode, I think the gravity is much better than the dual ball version and it also requires less setup to pull off, I just need to learn how to use it properly, and I think that goes out to most of the community.

I think the swing copter is too sluggish. I feel like people are lying to themselves and don’t realize it’s not nearly optimally implemented with its ungodly delay. If people tried it with less delay, they’d never want to go back. There’s a reason why most levels don’t use it and that we still have not gotten used to it. It’s because it doesn’t feel good to control. You shouldn’t have to get used to a badly designed mechanic, the mechanic should feel natural from the start.
So yeah… robtop should definitely look into improving it
Instead of learning and adjusting to clicking a second before it’d actually feel natural to, it’d be better to just not have the delay in rhe first place.

So far, the swing copter has only been used in a limited way. I think it'll improve later on.

swing is definetly going to be hard to get used to, especially considering that we have been using the mini ball swing for like 7 years, so its a good vehicle, but it just lacks what we expected of it.

just the ship can't change gravity at will and is controlled differently.
By that logic the ufo is also a harder to control ship

-you can straightfly with ship and swingicopter
-swingicopter's trajectory looks like ship trajectory if it was heavy
The main difference is the controls. Swingicopter changes gravity everytime you click while ship goes up when you hold and goes down when you dont. Meanwhile the ufo goes up everytime you click in a way that a cube would jump in. And you cant straightfly with a ufo
Every single game has at least 1 complaint, even if it's what they wanted
Tidal wave shouldn't be redecorated in the first place I watched wulzy video and the fact that its different doesnt mean it shouldn't be rated its just different if it was a serponge level and it will be the exact same this could be rated its just his first level and he deserves it

Swing copter at first will be a confusing mess but after you get used to it, it’s just satisfying to using it.
The dual Ball swing Mode is the worst thing I played. The actual swing gamemode is so much better and smooth
The Swing Copter is good, it just requires some time to learn and how to actually use it.
Only complaint I have with the swing is that there's not a really good way of telling which way its gravity is - there's a delay in the fire switching sides, so if you try to spam a bunch you'll have no idea what gravity you'll come out as.
Swing isnt a spam gamemode, if you wanna go straight, you can have a quick sequence of clicks, but not to the point of not knowing which gravity it is.
My solution for this (at least for me) is putting a gravity portal at the end of high cps parts (like swing straight fly) so that you can know what gravity you will be in the end
That person that said the dual ball is better than the swing never heard of the gravity trigger. Also I like swing, I don’t know why people are saying it is pointless, because that logic could be used with any other gamemode too. He didn’t have to add the ship, you could recreate the mechanism with some weird follow move trigger thing. He didn’t have to add the ball, blue orbs exist. It’s another tool (and a pretty good one at that) but people just haven’t found ways to use it correctly yet.
I really like swing copter. It is my favorite game mode. I think people just either aren’t used to it yet or they just haven’t tried it to its fullest potential.

we've seen this with almost every new game mode. whenever one gets added people are bad at it and dont like it but eventually get used to it with time
I think the argument that it's just a substitute for the ship ignores two things: Different click patterns mean that one can be made to sync to a song, and a ship CANNOT replace a swing in a dual.
Imo it's what Aeon said, it feels too imprecise compared to all of the other gsmemodes
I really want to use the swing copter in 2.2 levels i have in mind and want to make to get more familiar with it. People are just sleeping on it for some reason

Players: Ask Robtop if he could add a game mode like that.

Several years later: Robtop shows the Swing
Players: Are excited to try it

I dony know what a swing copter is. Swing is much better and i can understand it more
The Swing’s controls are pretty unique, which is a good thing, making it feel different, but also a bad thing, because unlike the Ship and in some cases the UFO, you need to specifically tailor the part in your level to it, or else it can just be boring or play poorly. This specific tailoring is something that would need to be mastered by the community building and playing wise for the Swing to reach its upmost potential.
I love the Swing. The whole purpose of it is to flow really nicely in gameplay, and in some instances, it does
The reason why people aren't thrilled by it is that it took like 7 years to come into the game, during which people already had essentially made the whole thing with the Dual Ball swing. Of course it's gonna be considered mid when people already thought of the idea years ago.
It just shows the updates have to be more consistent in future.
The swing is just the ball and ship combined.
I feel like the problem with the swing copter is that it isn't in platformer mode, since a lot of people like me have only played platformer since 2.2 came out so we basically haven't really played with it, and sadly robtop said that he wasn't going to add into platformer in the future

Yeah that makes it way better to me, but my problem is that players will never get uset to the swing because it works differently all the time, and probably not everyone will make an indication of how strong the gravity is.
I love the swing,Its pretty different from your usual gamemode where you have to tap to either go up or down,so you have to get used to that but once you do you have LOTS of control with it.
Honestly, I also don't like swing, but I can kinda understand that you have to practice every portal to understand how to control stuff. And I'm surprised that almost no levels use it for now, was scared about it tbh.

I personally LOVE the new gamemode. I think it's got a lot of potential for fun gameplay. and its sad that we dont see it as much in levels.
tbh, i love the new swingcopter mode. it took a while to get used to, but after some practice im a big fan.
also, i cant believe someone recreated the classic mickey mouse steamboat scene in GD. looks amazing!
My take is that, for swingcopter to be fun it always needs a guide, kind of like UFO where sometimes a lvl have circles to show where to click

@@olixx1213 Well if you can have those for UFOs in demon level why not swingcopter? I feel like in terms of difficulty you can just make the timing harder if it's a problem. For me, guide-less UFO (with somewhat tight timings) are not fun at all if you miss click a couple percent ago messes you up just because you didn't click at just the right place (due to momentum, etc.) which is also a problem in swingcopter (well i guess it's more of a gameplay problem but still, with a guide it'll make it 10x better)
As someone who only plays extremes, yes you can say “just get used to it”, but also replace any swingcopter in an extreme with swing and you will see just much harder it is to control and maneuver no matter how much you try to “get used to it”. So while yes I do like it in easier levels, not so much in extremes.
I absolutely love the swing, it's way better than the floating wall in controls. I hope it gets used more in the future

My favourite gamemode is wave but I think swing copter is fun I'm actually using it in a collab layout I'm making and it's fun :)
The one thing that kinda bothers me about this debate is how people say that the swing's physics are bad, but like, you can change its physics with the mini/big portals, speed portals, and even the new gravity trigger!

The ship allows inputs for holding and releasing.
Swing only has one input.
I think it’s incredibly different than any other gamemode. While every other vehicle allows for tight, precise inputs, the swing is very loose and unpredictable, at least with everyone’s skill with it at this point. Every mode has its level design, we just haven’t found it for the swing yet.
The swing’s a bit weird due to how floaty it is, but I think it has potential to be fun. I experimented with it in the editor.

The swing is basically in the same situation as the spider and robot, and creators have nearly no experience using it. The swing with its controls shines best in uses like in dash, but creators treat it too much like the ship.

When I first entered its portal in dash, I personally loved it!
The swing is only hated because the controls are bad. We just got to wait until we all adapt to it, then we will be used to it.
Mini swing is weird, but normal swing is perfectly fine. I did like the old dual ball physics, but I don’t mind the new one.

The problem with the swing is that for being a "gravity switch" gamemode, it relies too much on momentum, and we already have a gamemode for that (the ship), people expected something more akin to the dual ball, as it is consistent and has gameplay tight enough for very precise play
I'm telling you, swing copter is fun. With free camera and good gameplay, it can make some very satisfying syncs with some leeway for imperfect inputs. It's fun correcting your minor imperfections. Once there are more levels that actually utilize that sort of Dash swing gameplay, we'll all appreciate this gamemode. It's annoying how resistant some players are to using anything new beside slight rotations and maybe one reverse trigger
1:05 Does someone know what's the name of this style? I like it and want to experiment/try to make something that looks similar tho I can't find good references.. if there's a specific name for this style it'd help a lot!
I really don't mind the Swingcopter, there's really nothing wrong with it. It's just like a sine wave version of the Wave (Which the Wave being based out of a Triangle), and we haven't gotten used to the Swingcopter yet.

Should have a toggle-able option for the swing where you can just hold down/let go to either go up/down like the ship or wave, cause if you were to spam click without keeping track you'd have no idea which direction you'd swing to.

@@KwikBR Holding/Letting go would be no different than clicking, it's only a change in control. Think of playing the wave like playing the ball, whenever you click it goes up/down. There'd still be "momentum"
