  • Were you or was someone you know raised to believe that the King James Version of the Bible is the only "correct" version? People have many different reasons for believing this about the KJV, and today we'll delve into the history and theology of the matter to see if there's any truth to the KJV-only way of thinking.

Please watch the following video in the link below. Allie's video just totally missed the point on why people like myself use the KJV only. There are now 450 different version of the bible in English. Are there really 450 different ways of saying each verse in the bible? Not to mention copyrights law demands a version must be at least 10% different from all others in order to be published. Imagine for a second we just had 5 different versions of the constitution. No one would agree with that of course. In fact it wouldn't even be a debate. But with the Bible we can have even millions of versions in the same language and some people will still have no problems with that. Please watch the video in the link.

My comeback to the KJV crowd is always the Bible was written in two languages, Greek and Hebrew. If you can't read it in those languages you are not reading the Bible. You are reading someone's idea of what the Bible says. English is not the original language of the Bible.

    • @tryphenarose384
      @tryphenarose384 3 года назад +1

KJV is the Bible for sure. It is an English translated version of the original text from both the Hebrew and the Greek manuscripts. Same would go for any other language that the Bible has been translated into anywhere around the world. I wouldn't say a Japanese version of the Bible is any less Bible then the original texts. God is the one who promises to preserve His Word, and He has done that. He promised that His Word would reach every nation before Jesus returns, and it's is perfectly reasonable that would entail a translated text being presented to that particular nation. The debate here I think has more so to do with the accuracy of the translations. I personally have concluded that KJV is more accurate to the original Hebrew and Greek texts then other English versions, but that doesn't mean someone can't be saved or doesn't know God's word if they read NIV for example.

Mark 9:46: "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."
Mark 11:26: "But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses."
Mark 15:28: "And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors."
Luke 17:36: "Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left."
John 5:4: "For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had."
Acts 8:37: "And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."
Acts 15:34: "Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still."
Acts 24:7: "But the chief captain Lysias came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands,"
Acts 28:29: "And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves."
Romans 16:24: "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen."
I John 5:7: "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."
The argument is that because they were not in older manuscripts that they therefore should not be included. But just because its older doesnt mean its more legit. A manuscipt could be from the time of Jesus, but if it denies his resurrection or his deity or the fact he came to die for our sins, should be a red flag that its old, yes, but its obviously not legit.
What these older manuscripts are, are biblical translations found in a catholic monastery. One of these translations of the bible is called the Codex sinaiticus. This is the oldest manuscript found of which these new translations are based on.
If you want to be consistent then based off this early manuscript of the bible, you now have to become a catholic since it includes all the catholic books such as 1&2 maccabees , tobit, and the book of Sirach etc.
Look at this verse from tobit 12:9
"For almsgiving saves from death and purges away every sin"
    Do you see it?
Of course this bible was found in a catholic monastery, it supports exactly what the catholic church was doing, which is, selling indulgences, the selling of salvation.
These are books written during those couple hundred years before Jesus came, but no jew considered any of those books to be canonical or scripture, Jesus never quotes from them and the new testament never quotes from them.
This was NOT a legitimate bible manuscript.
    Was it the oldest, YES.
Means absolutely nothing if it contradicts scripture.

KJV was created to strip the notes of the Reformists from the Geneva Bibles, reinforcing the power of King James' Crown. It was not 'inspired'. King James was furious that the Reformers, the Dissenters, and the Puritans were using the Scriptures to 'undermine' his authority. This fact may be less relevant today, as most of today's Bibles, regardless of version, omit those notes and historical context. KJV is still 95% accurate to the original Hebrew and Latin, but I'd still point to NASB or ESV as superior versions. NASB is ranked as one of the most accurate to the original texts.

King James did not like Christians questioning the Divine Right of Kings . . . the Bible itself is pretty adamant against kings and crowns.

i would add that i recently became aware of some art work in the original KJV such as an Illustration of Peter holding the keys to the kingdom whereas older English Bible versions had all the Apostles each holding the keys to the kingdom. Also, "Authorized Version" was "the authorized version to be read in the churches," i.e., the trained religious professional was to read it, not the commoner. Sounds like residual Roman Catholicism to me. This comes from "The King James Bible (1611) and Early Bibles (full discussion)" on RUclips. The Presbyterians absolutely hated the Stuart monarchs whom they felt, quite rightly, wanted to bring Catholicism back into power.

@Kelly Miller Sister, did you know that John MacArthur and John Piper both said that the ESV and the NASB are the most accurate and trustworthy translations, yet the ESV and NASB don't even agree on how many verses are in the Bible (for example, ESV completely removed Matthew 23:14 while NASB didn't)? Why would they claim both versions to be the most accurate if they disagree with each other on what "most accurate" even means?

I was visiting at my mom's Baptist church and they had a guest pastor as their former pastor had passed. This guy was a KJV onlyist. He was doing a bible drill and I found and read the verse out( original NIV at the time) he publically criticized me/my Bible, claiming it was do bad a version that it didn't have the "word" he was looking for. So after a few more drill verses he revealed the common word in all the verses looked up was "wisdom". I then checked my version/verse again and, yes! it did contain the word "wisdom!" In my view if you have to out right lie about different versions and publically humiliate people you have never even met yet you are not to be regarded trustworthy scripturally!!!

@Heather Paul What led me away from my NIV and towards the KJV was when I learned that my NIV said something very different from university youth leader's KJV in 1 Corinthians 7:1, a verse which is speaking about how to deal with lust. The KJV says here "It is good for a man not to TOUCH A WOMAN" but my NIV (1984 original) said "It is good for a man to not MARRY." The KJV says that fornication should be avoided at all costs here (like 1 Cor 7:2 makes clear) but the NIV here says that you should just marry if you are tempted with sexual desire, like Catholicism falsely teaches.
I continued to find more severly-different content between versions after this, many of which are featured here (ignore the confusing title): www.chick.com/products/tract?stk=0998
      God bless you, sister.

Here’s the problem- that nobody wants to address. People hung up on these new blasphemy books act like there is no devil, and no demons. The devil has everyone fooled (not me) with this easy to understand trash. First off - the carnal minded can’t understand it. That’s what the Holy Ghost is for. Second. It’s not just about understanding- the Bible. The real Bible, the king, James Bible says - psalms 103:20 Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.
Therefore- when we are in a spiritual battle-which we are everyday, if something is coming against our thoughts, and we quote 2 Corinthians 10: flesh.
[3] For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
[4] (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
      [5] Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
[6] And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
Demons don’t care if we understand it. They understand, and have to obey. If I quote Philippians 4:19
      King James Version
19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus- the angels that hearken unto the voice of Gods word- they move. Everytime I quote that scripture, I get a break through. So why do I need man’s perverted versions. Angels and demons only understand Gods word. They aren’t moving to this new mess that’s out, because it’s not his word. The devil loves that he has people tricked. They’re busy arguing about what’s better, and nobody’s asking God anything. While the devil has peoples minds and keeping them in bondage because people don’t quote Gods word. The kjv worked over 400 years ago. Angels moved on people’s behalf then. But to hear these nasb pansies tell it, God left those people without his true word for over 400 years. Just foolishness. When I say get thee behind me Satan! I don’t have to understand. But he does, and gets out of my way. When Jesus quoted the word back to Satan. He didn’t stand there for 5 minutes saying, which version should I quote from, because I gotta make sure I understand what I’m saying -😒 see how stupid that is. I’ll stick to my kjv, and let these niv, rsv, nkjv nasb, etc pansies stay in bondage

I wouldn't call myself a KJV Only proponent, even though I was reared in churches, where the KJV was the standard for preaching, and personal study. I received my first KJV Bible with my name imprinted across the lower right-hand part of the cover, one week after I got saved at age, six. I have been reading the King James Version as my personal preference, since then, and I am now 60. I use the New Living Translation pretty extensively as well because I find it to be very readable, and consistently accurate.
As a student at Tennessee Temple University in the 1980s, I was familiar with the professor, who helped with the New King James Version, which, of course, meant, that we were on the receiving end of the KJV-Only controversy when a group of preacher boys from a church in Alabama came up on a Saturday midday one weekend to preach to us about leaving our standard.
When I got married, I noticed, that my wife wasn't reading the Bible consistently. So, I got her an NIV, soon coining an expression of my own, "An open NIV is better than a closed KJV."
Blessings to you always, dear sister.

@Stan Haselton Yet the NKJV is simply not an update of the KJV's words. It replaces them with words found in different manuscripts than the KJV used, which is a bit dishonest and subversive. The publisher (Thomas Nelson) said the NKJV is intended to be "transitional Bible" to get you to stop reading the KJV, not to help you understand it. Just an FYI for anyone interested, there is also a KJVe version (standing for “easy”, I believe).
It simply is the KJV text verbatim with the “thine, thou, thy” replaced with their modern counterparts for easier/smoother reading.

I love your show and love that you always hold up Our Lord Jesus Christ. I believe you can be saved using paraphrased information, but Jesus is the Word....and the word MUST be inerrant. And over a decade of studies have shown me, in other versions, there are numerous mistakes, inaccuracies and omissions.
Plus I think of some of my family who are Jehovas witnesses. They seem to have a new "improved" version every few years...each time falling farther from the truth.
My older children (7, 10, 11) study from KJV and understand it mostly. But like with ANY thing you teach your children you are there to guide them through what they don't understand. It has helped me develop as a student of the Word as well.
Hope you will consider this as you continue in the race set before us.
Congrats btw! If baby is here or not, what a blessing.

I'm a KJV only person, but I don't take offense to your video. I grew up with it as an Independent Fundamental Baptist, and all of my Bible memorization is from KJV (which is extensive because of graduating from a Christian school and Bible college. So, for the most part, that is my main reason for preferring it now. Coincidentally, I just bought an ESV Bible for a family member earlier today, before this video came out.

Would you mind clarifying being a "KJV only person?" Few Christians would have any qualms with exclusively using the KJV for personal study, teaching, or preaching. The concern that many have is the idea that other translations are demonic. While I love KJV, the idea that other solid translations are evil, demonic, or largely erroneous is cultish. I believe Allie was trying to point out the danger of assuming there is only one pure Bible (KJV) and that professing Christians who do not solely rely on KJV are in grave error.

    • @PackersDNA

@@eurekahope5310 I'd say that I would have fallen most closely into that extreme view of KJV only-ism, but in the past few years I have done a lot of research (similar to what Allie is teaching here), and now believe that ESV is a good version. I, however, will stick with my KJV because it is what I'm most used to. I will no longer, however, condemn people for using other versions. I believe that some things that were drilled into my head my whole life were very one-sided. I will NEVER compromise on doctrine or morals, however.

Some of them are very important to doctrine. I'm definitely KJV only. That being said, I don't think someone is in sin or cannot be saved from reading another version. I am just absolutely convinced that it is the complete and perfect Word of God. He promised He would preserve His Word for us and by faith I believe He has. I'll leave it at that. Love and agree with your thoughts on the KJV. I do not believe, however, that the Passion Translation should ever be used, not only because Brian Simmons has taken extreme liberties to make it say what he wants- but because he has said he had personal and direct encounters with Jesus, where he allegedly received new revelation. One bible teacher on RUclips who has studied this in depth is Mike Winger. He is a very solid bible teacher who does in-depth bible exegesis. He does studies on different books of the bible, Friday Q&A's, and various topics. Can't reccomend him enough!

There was not this confusion until about 30 years ago. There was no issue 130 years ago about what Bible to read. So I think she’s smoking something /Have never touched another one. As long as I’m in my right mind, I never will. I don’t touch another one.. Here’s the thing. It’s the only bible. Nobody who only reads a kjv bothers those who don’t. The ones who mess with all these other so called bibles are typically weak and powerless. They have No Holy Ghost. They stay in bondage all their lives, and if they aren’t their kids are. What people fail to realize is the Bible that worked 200 years ago, and 80, and 50 years ago still works. Why was this not an issue? 40, 50, 60 years ago? People who read these other so-called versions honestly, they’re calling out a liar. Because my God said he preserves his word. So he didn’t preserve his word until these new demonic versions came out with in the last 50 years ? They are saying that everyone’s been deceived up until now, and kjv the Bible didn’t work for them. They don’t realize how foolishly sound . The devil has them so caught up with the so-called I can’t understand the thous and thuses-that they don’t even know the scripture that says angels hearken unto the voice of God’s word. Which means when we start quoting scriptures. The Scriptures that are actually God’s word , angels move on our behalf. They are not moving on behalf of all of this foolishness that’s out now. They only understand one thing and that’s God’s pure word. The word that worked 300 years ago. Which again explains why they are weak, and powerless. The Bible says thy word have I hidden in my heart , that I might not sin against thee. If someone were to come up to me right now and so called scripture and it’s not from the King James Version- my spirit will not receive it. I already know it’s not a king James version because it does not compute when I hear it. It will not register or stick with me. Only God’s word sticks with me and is familiar to me. Also, the same people had no problem when Jay Z used the same language on his clothes. They had no problem learning Shakespeare. Same exact language. But they did it to get a diploma. Lastly, every time a demon is cast out of someone I noticed that they use thou and thus a lot. I don’t hear them saying anything out of these new versions. I wonder why. Sure is funny that this was never an issue until it became nearer to Jesus return. The confusion only started no more than 50 years ago. It’s all confusion. Now all of a sudden it’s a problem. They can go on and argue this all day long. I’ve been saved since March 2000. Every scripture I memorized with no problem was with the king James version. And I don’t have the best memory. But I remember those scriptures quickly because they were already hidden in my heart. I’ve had churches tried to pull me from the king James Bible. I stood flat-footed. The pastor fell off the wagon. This was in 2021- And everyone associated with him did also. Not me. I’ll stand on Gods holy word. I didn’t bow, even though they had a whole class coming against me because I refuse to touch anything other than a king, James Bible. Why would you have a class for one person who stood flat-footed? Because the devil knew. Also, those new king James version I think they stopped, but they used to have a witchcraft symbols on there. It amazes me how whole verses are removed like fasting. The devil doesn’t want anyone doing that. I have heard people who mess with them call Jesus Lucifer and Lucifer Jesus. I have heard more than once someone called Lucifer, the bright and morning star. That is straight heresy, and a damnable lie. But it I know where it’s coming from. It came from what they were reading -I’m done!

I grew up with the NIV. Then at Bible college people called it the Not Inspired Version. The NASB was one of the ones we used the most there. Never the KJV. But we were taught to compare versions (and that was before being able to just pull it up on the computer, we had to use library books back in the early 2000s, lol). Then in a Bible study I was introduced to ESV as that was the preferred version. I then went to a church that used the NLT. Now I am at a church that is pretty strict about KJV being the "best" translation but thankfully, although they are pretty strict about it, does not demonize the other versions and our pastor does state that ANY true Bible translation is better than not reading God's Word. I have a collection of versions because there are good things and bad things about all good translations (not including paraphrase Bibles like the Message and the Passion Translation for example). Humans translated and transmitted God's Words but they have stayed fairly consistently and are well preserved. God will speak to you, even through the poor suggestions.

Why some have problems with Reasoned eclecticism.
I John 5:7 is found in a majority of the Latin,
but not the Greek so out it goes.
    Good will towards men
    Doxology in Matthew
    Without cause
    God manifest in the flesh
Are a majority in the Greek but not in the Latin,
    so out they go
The PA and Mark 16:9-20 are a majority in both the Greek
and Latin so out they go.
Even the “not yet” found in the two of the earliest(P66.P75) in John 7:8
    some throw out.
If as an orthodox Christian you don't see a problem,
what would you see as a problem?

It's not translations, but the reasons for the translation? Is it to replace doctrines of the texts of the KJV, or only words? There's talk of words connected to doctrines have been dropped, many times.

What do you think now that you watched it? Personally I love the King James because it was the Bible I heard from in church growing up. The artful use of the English language is beautiful and it strongly influenced English spoken around the world as a common language between speakers of other languages. But, words that had one meaning when the KJV was published sometimes have changed since then. It's still a very good translation. But not as good as it was when first published. One example is the word "study". We hear that word and it means to read and look into it. But when the KJV came out the same word meant something like "to live out" or to put into practice in daily life.

Before James authorized the putting together of the KJV translation, the Geneva Bible was the one used by virtually all Protestants. It was used by the New England Puritans as well. The KJ contains numerous badly translated verses and was translated from inferior manuscripts. It is NOT the best translation by a long shot and those who are part of the KJV only cult need to seriously start learning the truth about their beloved translation.

Roughly forty-five years ago, at a nonsectarian liberal arts college, I took classes in Old and New Testament under a professor who was studying for the Methodist ministry. He was not a theological liberal; he believed in the physical Resurrection. His doctoral thesis had been on the Qumran (Dead Sea) Scrolls, which include the earliest known manuscripts of parts of the Old Testament.
There were two rules about what translation to use for class. One, students had to use an actual translation, not a paraphrase. Two, it could not be the KJV, due to the archaic language. The NKJV was OK, but not the original. He may have expressed preferences among the other translations, but any were acceptable.

      [5] Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

24:32 NASB was completed in 1971. "Early 20th Century" would be the ASV, the American equivalent to the (British) Revised Version of 1881, which had originated as a periodic revision of the KJV but "morphed" into a new Bible translation. The American counterpart continued working later than the Brits. I remember a boyhood pastor asking, from the pulpit, a woman who carried the NASB how it translated certain passages

The KJV is great, especially when using it with the Hebrew and Greek in a Word Study Bible such as Zodhiates which can then lend to seeing the original meanings in those languages. I agree with Allie that the ESV STUDY Bible is probably the best as the notes are extensive, and, it has chapters on doctrine, apologetics on other theologies, maps, etc. It is fairly large but worth the added volume, especially the introductions to each chapter which give the needed context for understanding Scripture and the typo-logical lines woven throughout the OT and NT. GOD Bless

@@roberttramontana9875 "God’s watching and he only has one inspired word in English." Ah Robert....the KJV is not "inspired" - the words found in the manuscripts were. The NIV, RSV, and ESV, for example, all have scholars who participated in the translations, just as the KJV did as commissioned by King James as he wanted a version other than the Geneva Bible. One can derive the same meaning. The ESV STUDY bible also includes, in the notes, which are extensive, different textual variants from the manuscripts which lends authenticity to the translation. OK I don't even have to watch this, but I will. I "favor" the KJV because it is a precise translation vs a "thought for thought" or subjective translation. I don't need the Bible to be "easier to read" when I'm not getting the whole message FROM GOD. I'm also very aware of changes that have been made that substantially change the original message. Think, modern doctrine that has caused the publishers to produce a "denominational seller"??, just saying. And I have other reasons. I'm not saying KJV ONLY, but how well do you want to know God? It worked for me.

I think that the differences in the manuscripts are not insignificant. The NIV intro states that the manuscripts are 89% the same...that's 11% different. Therefore which manuscripts are prioritized, is everything.
As a believer, I believe that "all scripture is God breathed". I take issue with verses being cut out or called into question, such as Acts 8:37 and John 8. I don't believe any English translation is perfect, but I do believe that the best translation I've found is the NKJV, because it is transparent - it seeks to be a literal translation, italicizes implied words, notes differences in manuscripts, and therefore allows prayerful interpretation with honest adherence to the original texts. I also appreciate reading other translations for reference, but there are significant differences, and are not trustworthy throughout. I think that many theological errors have resulted from reading some of these translations based on newly discovered, so called, older manuscripts.

We need to remember these translations are tools, and now a days we have access to every copy for free right on our phones. Blessed are we. I use the BLB (blue letter bible) application. With this you can look at side by side translations and also look at all linear coordinates, which gives you original Greek, Hebrew and Arabic words and translations of those words. At when all is said is done, God promised to persevere his word and God NEVER breaks a promise. And we need to have our faith in that promise, not the words of man.

The Reason I'm KJVO is simply the fact that I believe GOD
Inspired and Preserved HIS Word, through the ages, and in this case through the
Byzantine, Received Majority Text, despite attempts by Catholic Church through
    the Dark Ages .
The 'so called' earlier texts are mostly referring to the
Sinaiticus and Vaticanus , which have
many omissions and believed to have been corrupted by Gnostics in Egypt before
being incorporated into Jerome Latin Vulgate. In other words, there have been 2
streams of texts handed down in church history, Critical Text, and Majority
Text. I believe I have accurately stated
    a true historical fact.
Now, Which Texts are more Reliable, that is the Crux of the
Issue in KJV Controversy. God's True
Words have been around in church age, even in earliest centuries, as were corruptions . I believe these
corruptions are in these Critical Texts .
That's why modern versions who all rely on these Critical Texts and word
changes of even complete omissions, which to the careful read DO affect Sound
    Doctrine.
    For Example
    Acts 8:37 found in KJV
    And Philip said, If
thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I
believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
    Acts 8:36-38 NIV
36 As they traveled along the road, they came
to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my
    being baptized?”
    37 Footnote
38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot.
Then both Philip and the eunuch went down
into the water and Philip baptized him.
    Footnote
Acts 8:37 Some manuscripts include here Philip said, “If you
    believe with all
your heart, you may.” The eunuch answered, “I believe that
Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”
    ( Interpretation...
without Vs 37, there is NO Mention of FAITH in CHRIST, Just Merely
submitting to water baptism as the way to get saved )
    Matt 5:22
But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother
without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say
to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall
say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
“But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his
brother shall be guilty before the court” (NASB)
“But I promise you that if you are angry with someone, you
will have to stand trial.” (CEV)
“But now I tell you: whoever is angry with his brother will be brought to trial” (TEV)
“But I say to you that every one who is angry with his
brother shall be liable to judgment” (RSV)
“But, I, say unto you, that, every one who is angry with his
brother, shall be, liable, to judgment” (Rotherham)
“But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother[a]will be subject to judgment” (NIV)
“But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be in danger of being judged” (BBE)
“But I tell you, everyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to
    judgment” (Holman)
“But I say unto you, that every one who is angry with his brother shall be in danger of the judgment” (ASV)
“But I say to you, that whosoever is angry with his brother, shall be in danger of the judgment.” (Douay)
5:22 "without a cause" is removed. In the Sermon
on the Mount the Lord warned of judgment for those who were angry with a
brother without a cause. Should this change be accepted everyone who is angry
with his brother may be judged. The effect is to bring Jesus into judgment
for failing to observe his own words (see Mark 3:5). Such is contrary to
the doctrine of the sinlessness of Christ.

***Cross Referencing to Church Age Pauline Epistles
    Ephesians 4:26
Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your
    wrath:
***Cross Referencing verses a crucial in ‘Studying’ ( KJV is
    only Book
Commanding you to Study 2 Timothy 2:15 )
    ----------
There Are Many other Examples I can cite... But after 40
years of struggle, reading discernment, I have Come to the position that the
KJV is GOD's Providential Choice for Preserving HIS Words in these Last Days
    .
6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever
I believe that in the minds of most Believers and Scholars that GOD Did Inspire the Prophets and Apostles in what they Spoke and Wrote,
Providentially protected and Preserved ( in Majority Text Line ). They Fail to either grasp, of Believe that
These Scripture ARE or IS ( Present Tense ) Perfectly Inspired and purified
till the AV1611 KJV of which saw millions saved in the 'Philadelphia' church era.
What also concerns me, is that many modern Christians judge
Bible version by personal choice. Whatever variant readings these new versions may have, they don't seem too serious of the possibility of Deception. . The Bible can be likened to a Legal Document ( Though infinitely Higher ) of whom Lawyers mince over every word...
every nuance of Grammar Noun, Verb, Participle, Preposition, Conjunction,
Infinitive, plural,, singular ... to get to the true meaning of any document .
??? Do Believers take that much care in the Words they read in the Bible, and when variants arise, are they that concerned. Something to ponder

      [5] Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

@Tom Ingram9 That really is the smoking gun verse to this whole controversy, as it was in manuscripts of Roman Catholic scribes AFTER they had an ecumenical council saying that water baptism saves you. They didn't get rid of it because they (embarrassingly) knew it was original, despite that it directly conflicted with their sotierology. This also proves that any manuscript ("oldest" or not) that does not contain Acts 8:37 HAS been tampered with.

In a few generations, even the NKJ will become archaic. You need a translation that is readable.

I listen to you regularly. You were right about there being a "spectrum" of those who hold to the KJV as superior. Often those that hold to the KJV that make the most ridiculous claims are in the minority but definitely louder with vicious personalities. However, most that do hold to the KJV have sound and reasonable reasons why they stick with the KJV. You mentioned a couple of them but of course come to a different conclusion that I do.
1.) The textual foundation of manuscripts. The Greek Textus Receptus and the manuscripts it comes from have been used by the church throughout the centuries, whereas the Critical/Alexandrian Text was not readily used until 1881 and there was a huge conspiracy as Westcott and Hort wanted a vow of secrecy from the translation committee that it wouldn't be revealed that they were using these newly found manuscripts. Dean John Burgon and others exposed this and wrote many books defending the KJV and it's underlining text while showing the flaws of the Critical Text and of the Revised Version. The Greek manuscripts that support the KJV is in the thousands with a great consistency, whereas the Critical Text is largely based on just a handful of manuscripts that had major variants from one another. Yes, a few of the Critical Text manuscripts are older than the Textus Receptus, because they were hidden away and not used by the church, but there are other translations into other languages and quotes by church fathers that are older than the Critical Text and agree with the Textus Receptus. To think that God hid the most accurate copies of his word for 1800 years does not seem likely and God said he would preserve his word throughout each generation, not leave it hidden.
2.) Method of Translation. Before the ESV, the two choices were predominantly the KJV and the NIV, and as you pointed out, method of translation matters. Whereas the KJV uses a largely word for word method of translation, the NIV and most other modern versions use a thought for thought translation. The ESV and the NASB being exceptions, but then it goes back to the first point, different manuscript families as the foundation, so why there are differences and the ESV, NASB, and others are missing many passages of scripture and do alter passages that make the deity of Christ less clear. The passages removed make the new versions clearly missing something too. Acts 8:37 for example gives an answer to a question regarding what must he do before he is baptized, but the ESV is missing that answer. The verses use used to show the ESV as stronger on the deity of Christ didn't really have a strong case, but the other way around they make a big case. I Timothy 3:16 for example in the KJV says that GOD was manifested in the flesh, translated from the Greek word THEOS which is GOD. The ESV changes it to HE just because a couple of old manuscripts don't have it, yet the vast majority of manuscripts do have it. There are many others I can give but I see that this comment is already too long.
3.) The scholarship of the scholars. When you look at the scholarship of each individual translator involved in the KJV, it totally appears to be unmatched by today's scholars. Not that it's not possible, as we do have more tools today, but society then having less distractions and people knowing Hebrew, Greek, Latin, English and other languages before they were even 10 years old is truly incredible.
4.) The mode of translation: with around 50 men doing the translation work of the KJV, and each passage of scripture being translated by multiple translators, reviewed, critiqued on variants, through several layers, groups, scholars, etc shows how much attention to detail they were to accuracy. Much more effort than just a few men working on the translation a particular book of the Bible..
    5. God said he would preserve his word. To say that only the originals are infallible and that today we can't really know what is accurately God's word or not, is to go against the character of God's promise to preserve his word. For example, all the verses that are removed from new versions, were earlier Christians really deceived this whole time and that they were really additions that didn't belong in the Bible? The last 12 verses of Mark for example, are we really supposed to reject that as scripture just because it wasn't in the Critical Text (Vaticanus and Sinaiticus), even though it was seen as scripture by the church for the last two thousands years in various translations into other languages and again quoted by early church fathers? God sad his word would endure to the end and we should work to translate it into various languages. The KJV does stand superior to those in the English language. It is no wonder that every year a new version is released, they often compare it to the KJV as being the standard. Just like liberals try to reinvent the United States Constitution and day it's outdated, that it needs to be altered drastically, liberal theologians have been wanting to water down the word of God to be more "woke" to the culture. Even liberal theologians have admitted this, and even men like DA Carson have defended using unbelievers in translation work of the Bible. George Vance Smith a liberal theologian of the 1800's said this “Since the publication of the revised New
Testament, it has been frequently said that the
changes of translation which the work
contains are of little importance from a
doctrinal point of view. In other words, that
the great doctrines of popular theology
remain unaffected, untouched by the results
of the revision...Any such statement appears
to be in the most substantial sense contrary to
the facts of the case.” George Vance Smith. He then gives many examples of why he likes that the Revision took out key doctrinal teachings.

Some context. There are NO punctuations or numbered passages in the works from Antiquity. When the NIV first was done it studied the KJV, Codex Vaticanus etc. The KJV IS accurate but the issue with many was the fact it was told by King James to make it I guess the word would proper? All the ye’s and what not. Shakespeare was an influence as far as language. Did not distort it. But this is the 21st Century. We use words and phrases differently. I learned a lot from the NIV. I am not a scholar but I had a book that was Greek and once I understood John in Greek, which along with Hebrew my Pastor said, the passages like the opening of John have so much more meaning, better word would be emphasis. Those languages are better than English because they express conceptuality better. The number of Greek words for Love for example. The BEST thing to do is read more than one and compare. You may find passages are not missing. Some eliminate words to make the passage clearer. Sometimes it is to make words more generic. Sometimes it may take the pizazz out of it. Ex. Jesus wept! That is powerful! The NIVr says Jesus sobbed. Both are accurate yet the later does not have the impact. Luther himself stated, I was born Baptist, that it at times is not the word to be hung up on, translating has that problem at times, but the meaning of the passage is the most important. May have to find a better word than an exact translation from one language to another. Again read more than one! It is eye opening! It often helps me to understand complicated things better or to explain it to someone else. Remember in Jesus’s day the official language was Greek, Roman officials spoke Latin and the Jews spoke Aramaic and often Greek.

Gal 8:1-9 teaches that there is an Authority when it comes to Gospels preached. In Rom. 1:16, versions other than the KJV remove Christ from this scripture. That is a big deal. This is only one of many examples.

I'm a bit confused. Did you mean to put Gal. 8??? Or do you mean another chapter of Galatians or another book? Because there are only 6 chapters of Galatians. If your Bible has two extra chapters that should be cause for concern because I have looked and there isn't an 8th chapter of Galatians. It's also not entirely true that other translations other than KJV remove Christ. TS2009 says, "For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Messiah, for it is the power of Elohim for deliverance to everyone who believes...." The NMV has Messiah as well. (Messiah and Christ mean the same thing and Elohim is God in Hebrew, which you probably already know😀).

My grandparents fully believe it has to be King James from before the 1960s and insist the Resurrection is not included in any other version and they gifted me an antique Bible that is incredibly heavy and very difficult to comprehend and I have to carry it with two hands because it’s too big and heavy and they tune me out when I say I prefer ESV and my church uses ESV, but they also don’t like that I wear pants and read books that aren’t just Christian fiction and I listen to music besides Christian music… I’ve compared different translations for key verses and they’re okay, but I don’t agree with The Message or the female Bible. The Bible wasn’t originally written in English anyway.

I’ve been saved for over 23 years now. This girl doesn’t know the front door from the back. She said the modern versions within the last 130 years.

One of the first things I learned (and understood) is that the Holy Language is Hebrew. A foundational book (every Christian should read) is, "Understanding The Difficult Words of Jesus" by Roy Blizzard and David Bivin. Since that book was written, today scholars have discovered many original Hebrew New Testament manuscripts (not Greek, not Aramaic). We speak English so naturally we are biased toward the English language but English is not the Holy Language. Once we understand this, then we can proceed to understand the Bible in a much greater way. Proper study of the Bible requires knowledge and understanding of the Holy Language. "KJV only" is an outdated idea that places the KJV at the top of all the English translations. When we understand English is not the original language (English is not the Holy Language) then we can easily see the fallacy of placing such great importance on a translation of the Bible which itself is translated from another translation. Scholars are working today on the original Hebrew NT manuscripts that have recently been discovered. Dr. Miles Jones is a leading researcher on this project. Knowledge of these things is increasing at rapid rates in our present day.

@@gunstar168 Please consider the following in order to explain further: 1) The English language did not exist at the time of Christ 2) The Ten Commandments were written in Hebrew along with the entire Old Testament. 3) Jesus Himself and the apostles including Paul all spoke Hebrew 4) The New Testament was originally written in Hebrew and today we have many original Hebrew New Testament manuscripts. 5) Our English Bibles are translations - they are not the original words spoken and written. These are all facts that everyone must understand. There is nothing to argue about here - these are all facts that cannot be denied. And yes, the Holy Language is Hebrew - this is also a fact.

I like the KJV. However words in old King’s English do not have the same meaning today. When Jesus said “ suffer” the little children means gather. Other times the word virgin does not always mean what we think. There are those that think that anything other than KJV is heresy. It is not the exact word in general it is the meaning of the passage. There are exceptions. John for example. The Word WAS God. That is heavy. The JW’s have the Word was a God. When Luther translated the Bible, from Latin, that was originally translated from Greek and Hebrew, to German he spent years painstakingly getting the right balance. Now I like the NIV for most, keeps some elegance in today’s English language, the NIVr for study. Now the one the left did that changed pronouns no is not considered legit. It is whatever makes the most sense to you. Even better is learning Greek, since the meaning as my Pastor said, has more impact.

Because my KJV Bible tells me so! When you read the KJV only you get to believe that "unicorns" exist as they are mentioned (that is, erroneously translated) in the KJV Bible! Read: Numbers 23:22; 24:8; Deuteronomy 33:17; Job 39:9-12; Psalms 22:21; and Isaiah 34:7.

Some people are so childish in their carnal minds. Here, I will just cust and paste a good answer given to this question, so the children might understand it better. Nothing to do with translation errors (ignorance galore):
      ----------------------
The words monceros (Greek), unicornis (Latin), and unicorn (English) all refer to the single-horned variety of the rhinoceros (which is also a Greek word). One of the earliest descriptions of this wild beast appeared in a travel diary published in the fifteenth century. The accompanying illustration, made by an artist who had never actually seen one of the animals, looked like a large horse with a long horn sticking out of the middle of its forehead.
Over the following century, European artists produced hundreds of images of these “unicorns,” which they assumed were faithful representations of the exotic rhinoceros. It wasn’t until 1515 that the first living rhinoceros was displayed in Western Europe, allowing artists (like Albrecht Dürer) to create realistic depictions.
The ancient Greek translation of the Hebrew scriptures, made around the third century BC, translated the word re’em as monoceros, which, as we already mentioned, was another word for the rhinoceros. When Jerome translated the Vulgate in the fourth century AD, he followed the Greek reading and translated the same word as unicornis. In 1611, the translators of the King James Bible followed Jerome in translating the word as unicorn, which, at that time, was still a common term for the rhinoceros.
It wasn’t until well after the translation of the King James Bible that people turned the early (and wildly inaccurate) depictions of the rhinoceros into the mythological “unicorn” while reserving the word “rhinoceros” for the real animal.

With respect: I'm Roman Catholic. At no point (at least until I heard you edit a certain phrase into your own version... which is when I stopped listening) did you make it clear that there are many different Christian beliefs.
For example: @ 3:50, You read your chosen verse without inflection to
    1-exlamation points
    2-commas
    3-question marks.
That in itself, makes it your translation of that specific verse....and soley unique to you.
Your translation completely changes the meaning any way you look at it. Which, in essence would make no sense regardless of what religion you practice. Please be more precise when preaching, especially about religion, as it is the word of God...and a touchy subject if not correctly deciphered.
As a former tv news anchor, I understand that you may now have a large audience.
That makes it a responsibility to your viewers in getting not only the facts straight...but complete for those that may not understand should they not be Evangelical, Protestant...etc.
Thank you in advance for considering my thoughts.

So, you think your King James Bible is the perfect word of God. Well, can you tell in 1 Thess 4:15&17 that the word “we” is in fact the always expressed-emphatically first-person personal pronoun? I mean, if you cannot determine that by looking at the KJV English text, then it is not perfect! But it's very clear in the Greek from which the KJV was translated! AND! It makes a huge difference in how it is interpreted.
That word is “eg-o'” in the Strong's with the number [1473]. When it is used it is always emphatic, but our English translations do not put it in caps and bold print in order that we get that. This word is in 1 Thess 4:15&17. It should be V15 “For we say this to you by the word of the Lord, that “WE-“ the ones living, the ones remaining until the coming of the Lord- will in-no-way precede the ones having fallen asleep.” V17 “ Then “WE-“ the ones living, the ones remaining- will be snatched-up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we shall always be with the Lord.” Those two “WE's” are emphatic. Paul said it TWICE! Prof Alpheus Crosby, in his 1850 book, “The Second Advent,” says that these two verses are particularly emphatically strong! And he taught Greek in THREE colleges! Dartmouth was one of them. And a seminary too. A professor of Greek is to be listened to. He said in his book: “In these clauses the pronoun is expressed in the original; so that, according to a familiar law of the Greek language, it must be emphatic and used in marked contradistinction. The form of expression in 1 Thess iv:15,17 is peculiarly strong.”
Those two “WEs” mean that Paul was saying that those living breathing people hearing his letter read aloud to THEM were the ones to experience the coming of the Lord. Prof. Crosby; “That is precisely how they would have understood Paul. Did they have any reason, of course not, to understand it differently?” Here is where your King James Bible comes up wanting in being the “perfect word of God.
