I'm so confused, seemingly for every product, people are scattering comments/reviews of its ineffectiveness. I just want good wifi! I wanna be 99.99% sure!
Just know you can't change the channel width from 40MHz on TP-LINK Deco Mesh systems (BAD) and you also can't manually change the channel of either band (ALSO BAD). Bottom line, look for a product that can set these options automatically, but does allow you to manually change them if needed.
My biggest issue with ORBI is that you can't select or limit the band preference per device. On my TP LInk decos I can, so I'm able to force 5ghz on certain devices and it increases the chance my device will be handed off to another mesh router as I move. VS orbi which will always dictate it and sometimes it'll throw devices onto a "3 bar 2.4ghz at slow speeds" vs keeping it at a "1 or 2 bar 5ghz at fast speeds". In my case, 2.4 = 20mb vs 5ghz at 60 with those bars respectively.
For me 😂😂😂 2023 = TP Link AX5400 X60 wifi 6, 3-pack Mesh system 2024 = same as above 2025 = TP Link BE65 BE11000 Tri-Band wifi 7, 3-pack Mesh system (will go for BE85 if have $$$) 👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the informative video. Are you able to change which Wi-Fi channel you want on the deco mesh systems? I have an old Orbi AC3000 triband already reached its end of service per the website and it all allows me to change which channel I want in the settings. Just wondering if Deco allows it. I’ve been considering a new mesh system. Thanks
Purchased a Linksys Velop 3 node system which was barely mediocre, so I purchased 3 more nodes for a 3000 sq ft home. Not horrible, but nothing to write home about...and it was expensive.
Looking to replace our Velop mesh (3 nodes), if you don’t reset them every 6 months they consistently lose their connectivity and the speeds slow. It’s incredibly annoying
So I have Xfinity internet and I am still renting out my gateway. Do you suggest me buying my own modem and router? And is the modem you mention in this video the one I should get? And do you think the Orbi is the best router/mesh network?
If you don't need unlimited data or are willing to pay 30 a month for it go for it. I have a cm3000 but want to save 5 a month with renting modem and get unlimited for 25
I have xe75 pro for my 3 floor house before I had dead spots now not so much I have one in each floor in the middle. The app shows you how good the connection is and if you need to get it closer
Is you house wired for Ethernet? If so, the best solution is to get an additional router which can be set up as an extender over Ethernet. That way you aren't reliant on connecting your extender via WiFi. Since that basically puts you in the same connection problem, just with your extender instead of your endpoint devices.
Given that WiFi 7 routers are going to remain expensive for some time, is it of any significant benefit to people with internet service available at max 1Gbps, and not a single device supporting WiFi 7?
"For every scenario" so what's the best if one's primary concern is security? Updates, anti-hackability, monitoring traffic in/out, Guest options, etc etc. Not a great video this time sorry.
@@kevinngnova I guess adjust the title to be more accurate, or discuss additional routers for things beyond speed and signal strength. The ebike video from 5 months ago seemed good, and was hoping this video would likewise go over more use-cases than eventuated.
legit thought you were reviewing rolls of toilet paper from the thumbnail
Wait. Its not?
Right?😂

I might be too late but watch more videos

So what are your picks

So do I have to buy a 2 pack for any of these or buying just 1 is okay?
I have the net gear Orbi and I hate it. It’s non stop issues. Very inconsistent wifi coverage and stability. Don’t buy it.
I'm thinking to switch to Synology since I already have a NAS
Nice one, i thought it was a decodr episode but nice to see these kind of videos too.

Are you using the same connection for each Speedtest?
The large majority of my devices connect to my WiFi 6 router using WiFi 5 so what is the point of getting a WiFi 7 router?
Some folks like future proofing but anything over 6E is over kill
TP-Link BE63 ($550) vs BE65 Pro ($660)?
Any recommendations for multi-floor homes? I am struggling to get strong wifi signals in second floor.

I found Orbi to not be very good
He mentioned creating a wired “back haul” between the nodes of a mesh system. Does anyone know the purpose of doing this?
wifi creates 50/50 bandwith between the nodes. since wifi is not full duplex. so every node in between will decrease speed by half
What modem are you using?
TP Link.... not a great brand to recommend from my experience.
So far most big tech channels are recommending the deco
Including LTT
Could you do an episode amplifiers/receivers?
Meanwhile down under, we’re still using 50Mbps connection. 😂

I won't upgrade to Wi-Fi 6 until Wi-Fi 7 is a norm.
so let's jus say my 100 mbps router will it be increased more than its original btw it's Verizon 5g home internet.
Future Proof is unimportant. Your router transmitter/receiver will die before it's needed.
So stupid by Deco to have white routers. After daily exposure in the sun and it's heat on the top they turn yellow.
Mesh is garbage 🗑
Why?
