Greg has taken 17 demonstration examples from the entire Foldforming Series and has made them into pieces of jewelry. Lots of ideas for you! He also demonstrates the process of taking a copper air pierced example and combines it with foldformed silver leaves and silver wires, to make a pendant.

Thanks for this series. I was introduced to fold forming in a class I took at an art center, and subsequent study. Your videos are very clear with great explanations with many interesting techniques. The vise mod is very helpful, almost have mine done. P.S. I have a 35 lb Cliff Carrol anvil that looks similar to the one you are using in the videos. Seems to work well for this application.

There really are some beautiful pieces among the pieces you made. The round one with the silver wire with balls on the end and the 3 boatfold one being my favorites. They have a beautiful flower feel to them. I would definifely wear them. Such a shame that hammering that much in an appartement building isn't really neighbour friendly. I like my Neighbours and visa versa so i prefer to keep it that way. But this video sure is inspiring. 👍

Having said that.. you get such awesome colours with copper.... mixing both might be spectacular......

I absolutely love watching your videos, I'm learning so much. You said your vise is handmade if I remember correctly, I have been looking at buying a vise to do some of the foldforming and I can't find anything large enough to make a cuff. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated 🙂
Hello Jade, I am glad you are enjoying and learning from my videos. Rewatch Part 1 of the Foldforming series. I have "modified" my vice with angle irons. I replaced the textured jaws with the angle irons. This way you can fit cuffs etc in the jaws. You can buy almost any kind of vice from a box store or hardware store. They can by cheaper brand if that fits your budget. Just make sure that you can remove the textured jaws. Please let me know how it goes. Greg Greenwood

Hello Mohammad, The dark spots are copper oxide. They are caused by the silver mixing with the oxygen in the air producing copper oxide. They can be removed by "pickling" in a mild acid solution. Hello Susanne, Thank you for your nice comments. The stake you are talking about is an "Eid Longhi Anticlastic Forming Stake" It is a multi purpose forming stake to make anticlastic curves (Metal curved in opposite ways in two directions). Make from a plastic type material "Delrin". Great stake for bending metal over in many different curves. Thanks for asking. Greg Greenwood

How thick is the steel you are using for the construction on your vice ? Do you think that 3 mm would be strong enough for hammering the metal sheets ?

Hello Jay, Sorry for the delay in responding. I would dome a circle of silver using a dapping block, forming around a steel ball, or forming over a stake. Then you could cut the dome in two pieces to make two eye lids. You could solder the lids to an other dome or back sheet. Decorate as you wish. Sounds like a fun project. Let me know how it goes.
