- Just basics of variator and how it's restricted in some countries. It goes 49km/h with three washers under the restrictor. Without the restrictor it goes 60km/h. (gps measured). No other tuning.
NOTICE: tuning your scooter could make it illegal at your country. So this is just a demonstration video explaining the structure of variator and how it effects the speed.
this works probably only with 50cc versions, as 125's are probably not limited at all.

I eventually performed the modification yesterday, it works well 60/62 kph on the speedometer. Very easy to do, the biggest job was to build a device to block the piston ; I used an old spark plug fitted wiith a bolt inside ...My son is very pleased to this big speed increase !!!

So that's how it works: the angular velocity of the rotor overcomes the centripetal forces on the rollers; they move out pushing the plate which increases the radius the belt takes around the plate increasing its linear velocity. The washers prevent how far the belt radius can be increased around the rotor thus limiting the linear velocity and therefore maximum speed; interesting and noted for when I get one of these scooters for Summer.

I just did it on a looxor 50 cc and now it doesnt speed up at all. The gas works 1/20 Times. Answers?
impact gun is usually the best way to open it. Compressed air of electric. Of course it could be hard to find one. it's best not to use excessive force against the piston.

before put back in the screw of the vario, clutch got to be pressed by hand, putting the belt in that vario has it's free room and not screw the vario on belt instead of iron

I tried to do this to my vivacity 100cc, but the centre of that axle looks like drilled at the centre and hammered with some kind of sharp tool to make it stuck, so I wasn't able to unscrew that bolt, even vith a piston stopper inserted into the cylinder. Maybe I was too afraid to use too much brutal force in case I could brake the piston. Do you have any suggestions how could I unscrew it in this situation? thanks in advance.

So you remove washers & the big metal plate?
probably. Not sure. it's almost identical procedure in all brands and models.Sometimes the limiter could look different.

i removed the restrictor plate and still its not going all the way up on the vario and its only runs 50kmh so what to do? to make itt little bit faster
Great video! Do you know what is the size of the rollers in vivacity 3? I just bought one and want to derestrict it and change the rollers since they seam to be too heavy and the scooter starts slowly.

There all pretty much the same bud, as long as it's the same model everything will be the same, just better quality.
Is this on the newer 2008- vivacity?
Does this change how my moped sound? Will you be able to hear that the moped is trimmed if you remove the restrictions?

if you remove the small washers the bike becomes slower. but if you remove the whole big metal thing, then it has no limiter.
Ok thanks! I'm not going to de-restrickt my speedfight 3 anytime soon as it's brand new, but can this damage my scooter etc? Do I have to remove other things also, to not risk damage the scooter? Just looking for maybe 10-15 km/h more speed.
ThxiD4x variator is like bicycle gears. Removing the limiter just gives you 'higher gear'. so nothing else is effected.
Which rollerset is the best for vivacity 3 50cc

Do you need impact gun for it or can you do it wihout ?
Just be careful and use multible impact points to even out the pressure as a precaution.
Hello, there is no risk of the belt out? its the same on the vivacity 125cc?
belt cannot go over the edge, it's so short. This is probably only suitable for 50cc version.

Hey James I`ve just removed 6 washers from the screws (2 for each) and there is absolutely no improvement. My vivacity is slow as ever going 45 km/h. Do you have any idea as why would it be ?
it works like that. if you put more washers its faster. if you remove washers its slower. Best method is to remove the whole plate.
+James Parus Ah man I`m such an idiot. I`ve watched your video like 5 times yet I haven`t realised that YOU DIDN`T PUT THE PLATE BACK. I removed the washers put the plate back.. and I was surprised there was no improvement. Just now I realised that you don`t put the screws and plate back on. Thanks alot. Any other improvement on your vivacity ? I use it to commute daily and I could use a bit more speed. Cheers.

what about changing the exhaust ? would it offer any improvements ?

I have a Peugeot Speedfight 4 (4t, 2v, Euro5) from 2021 and I had it done by the shop I bought the scooter from, they gave me the vario ring which is a plastic ring and they also tuned the original ECU to make it run faster, it's still restricted by the ECU at 58km/h but I want to change it again so the ECU isn't the restricting factor anymore but I can't find any information about my particular scooter and the videos that I find from Peugeot scooters don't match at all to my scooter which makes it even more difficult for me.
If there's anyone who knows where to find any information about my scooter or a shop where I can buy parts for my scooter that would be very helpful to me, I'm looking online for months thinking that eventually other people would buy a new scooter which is the same one as I have but now that a year has passed I still can't find anything online, this is very frustrating because I don't trust the mechanic from the shop where I bought my scooter and as soon as the guarantee period has passed I'm not going to that shop anymore so I want to do it myself then but if I can't even find an online shop selling 3rd party parts or original parts even then it's pretty much impossible for me to do it myself making me dependent on some guy that I don't trust.

You probably already know this but because I am a scooter friend I would like to inform you that when an accident occurs which causes the insurance to pay big money to the other party involved you will suddently have a huge problem because of this little adjustment.

not needed, as the top revs don't go up. limiter in variator is like keeping car at third gear. this just lets it to change to higher gear.
@@JamesParus how much km/h does this increase ur vivacity? so lets say first it goes 40 what does it reach after deleting the plate? Thnx

I have no information about other models, but I've heard some rumors that peugeot speedfight 3 al least has different structure.?
yes it does i tuned my peugeot zenith whit that and some more stuff but it works but it goes not from 45-50 to 60 its more like 45-55

I've a Peugeot Jetforce C-tech and it has a restrictor plate on it, some models may have a restrictor ring.
not on all peugeots be carefull because 4t is not ! and some c-tech d-tech not

just a question about how to unscrew the bolt at the center of the variator ? It is a14 mm bolt and when I try to unscrew everything turns. I see you use an electric wrench, but how to unscrew it with just a manual device ? thanks
you can sometimes hold it with big screw driver, but its easy to destroy aluminium fins.
+James Parus ok thanks for the answer I bet the best is to use a device installed in the spark plug orifice to block the piston. Last question ; you said the 3 washers could be completed by extra washers, but you totally get rid of the plate and washers attached with the 3 bolts (7 mm) is there any risk the small cylinders may escape from their location ? Regards.
+ZZ POTE there is no chance to escape as they are under that plate. visible at 3:10.
