I've noticed that binocular monopod in several of your videos and thought it was a pretty slick design--now I know the Kestrel name brand! Thanks Samong.
Thanks for these types of videos. It's good to see what other people use and an explanation as to why. I like to take information from other people's experiences. I am late to the hunting game. I have lived my whole life outdoors but never hunted big game. This is my third season coming up in Eastern Washington, and have yet to get a deer or elk. I've tagged out on Turkey over the past seasons, but nothing else. I'll keep plugging away with Bear, Deer, and Elk. Be Blessed! Thanks for the great information.
Thanks for an excellent video! Comprehensive and clear. May I suggest you consider a mountaineering sleeping bag - the down coverage will be more even, warmth rating will be up there (either get a 3-season bag or a 4-season bag depending on your hunt and weather), and weight will be a significant consideration in the design and manufacturing. REI may be one source to check in Washington State for mountaineering bags.
Excellent and thorough video Samong! Very good explanations, pros and cons of the products you use, and have used. I will be, hopefully hunting and fishing in Oregon or Washington in 2023. I can’t wait! Your videos have been wonderful to watch and gather tips and skills from. Thanks as always, and keep up the fantastic work and vids!
Lightweight hunting boots, which durable are quiet makes a big difference, as after awhile you legs get tired from lifting extra weight hiking using cheap boots and pants. Makes a difference to go light weight but warm, pending the time of the year here in Washington.
Cool gear load out. I wanted to say that I liked your WA State Big Game hunting video for beginners. I was wondering if you might do a video that covers small game and air gunners? State Regs make me a little nervous - I don’t want to get hammered because I didn’t do something properly. I’m not new to hunting but new to hunting WA state.
Enjoyed watching your hunting gear videos. Two years ago, I bought the Exo Mtn Gear K3 pack after watching your video with the Exo pack but I am bummed that you switched to a different pack, 😂. I do like the Exo pack and I just did a first packed out of a 4 point muley on Sept. 2nd on my first archery hunt. I also purchased the Marsupial Bino System and two hand gun holsters. From this video, I just purchased the muzzleloader sights. And, I plan on purchasing the Kestrel. thank you SY.
Bud. I’ll be at Diamond lake on Friday before modern opener. Message me if you want to link up bud. Thanks for the “pack dump” video. Always enjoy seeing what everyone runs in their pack
I still rock the old OR gators from the early 90s lol and my sun shade for my scope is electrical taped the Bushnell's trophy scopes aren't threaded in the front
Awesome Always enjoy seeing what others use to either stay cool, dry, and warm. You've seen my gear...Old School It'll keep me dry, warm (except my feet) and cool but it's Not light weight...lol
Despite what some of the hairy-chested burly woodsmen say, I think that 30-06 Springfield’s recoil is about the max that most people can handle. I think that most people do better with lighter recoil.
How far would you be willing to shoot an elk with 140 grain ballistic tips at 2650, though? My 30 06 is an old Sako and a tad on the heavy side, but the recoil is really light. You could shoot it all day.
Is that SY merch I see? 😃Also have you considered a quilt? Down insulation doesn't do anything to your back since it's compressed so it's just wasted weight.
I need to get a handgun this off-season for self protection. I have a 357 revolver, but not very realistic to have a Dirty Harry “go head, make my day” pistol. I need a good 9mm, light weight, just in case. The amount of close Cougar encounters I’ve had in Washington, since 2010 is insane. The WSDFW needs to go back to a regular season hound hunt. Minimal special permits, and we are being overrun with predators, including wolves.
Don't understand why they wouldn't let you use a scope on your muzzleloader unless they are trying to limit how far of a shot you are taking. I have a 1.5 power Weaver scope on my 35 rem lever action just to make sure I'm always shooting at the same spot. Unless you have some paint on iron sights you may be off a tiny bit. I stopped carrying binocs because I think my farthest shot in the last ten years might have been 40 yards. I do carry an orange colored bucket strapped to the back of my backpack. Its just easier for me to sit on and I can put my heavy clothes like my jacket and my coveralls inside of it and walk to my stand in some lightweight clothing. I once wore my heavy stuff and ended up walking in some heavy snow all the way to my stand and basically had to strip down to my underwear to let everything dry off. Of course it was on public land and someone walked up the trail and there I was in my underwear. He had a laugh and turned around and went to another spot. My sweat kind of ruined that spot for the day.
Thanks. Have you used that microphone on you phone? If so.. does it still work on your phone? Thanks for the awesome videos. Let me know if your want to come hunt elk in utah... I'd love to do a hunt with ya. 👍

@@SamongOutdoors awesome thanks Samong, appreciate your response! Keep up the great work. Been in Wa state my whole life and hunted pheasant and turkey. Starting to get into the big game world, it’s cool too see you having success out here.

I'd shoot elk with the 6.5 Creedmoor any day. Just know your own capabilities, use a quality bullet, and put the bullet in the right spot and elk won't go far. My cousin used my 6.5 last season and took a cow elk at 525 yards. Not my first option, but it's capable as long as you are realistic with it.
I have the SG De Havilland Pant and their Helio Bottom. The Helio Bottom is a great late season piece, but their pant is too loud and "boxy" fitting for my liking. I simply forgot to throw in the pant in this video.

Those Hornady 300 Grain SST are insane in a muzzleloader. My son has dropped 2 bulls with it. They never moved.
Get the kuiu Gila LS if you want a breathable shirt, the merino is meant for colder weather layering.

On the .30/06 note: Did you try 150g Nosler Ballistic Tips? Scary good in my experience.Beyond scary good, in fact.
How did the corrugate foundry pants hold up for you?
It's holding up just fine. My only gripe is still the "baggy" fit to it.

Their factory triggers aren't the best for sure. The MCARBO trigger spring is the best $15 investment an X-Bolt owner could make on their rifle!

I wouldn't call it switching - it's just trying out a new gun. Both are solid rifles.
