Loved this game when I was a kid. Thank you for featuring and sharing the rules. I recall having them in pretty pastel colors and remember the satisfying sound of them.
I can't believe my local old school toy store has never heard of these!!! Great video of family time sans screens. Thanks for the refresher on these simple instructions!
Lowtechgames In Berkeley, CA we've got Mr. Mopp's and Games of Berkeley. I'm guessing the clerks who answered my calls were much younger than I am:) Now I'm on a mission to get Chinese jacks and a Chinese jump rope! As you stated... I'm not really sure if either you originated in China, but they're fun indoor games that we can play at Thanksgiving. Can't wait!
Thx for sharing😊As someone from Guangdong province, China, I often played a game very similar to this one when I was a little girl, except that my pals and I would use very round and small stones as jacks . And the rules are a bit different, we would hold one stone in hand and try to pick another one with the same hand and we collect all stones till the end with all previous stones in hand.
What a wonderful memory from your childhood, Alice! Thank you for commenting and proving to us all that this game maybe indeed have originated in China. I wonder if that's how the game evolved or if there's many variations of the game.
You're welcome and thanks for the Fun Jacks! They are well-made and I like that it came with just the right amount of rings. I like my jacks not too packed with rings, not too loose. The number per color was perfect.
I've never heard of Chinese Jacks. When I was a kid, only the girls used to play jacks. Well, primarily girls. But this was decades ago when we used to say "oriental" when we meant "Asian." Rosella says in Manila, they called jacks "jack stones."
Great to meet another fellow Chinese jacks fan! I would just google where to buy Chinese jacks and order it online. Here's a link to an ebay search: www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2510209.m570.l1313&_nkw=chinese+jacks&_sacat=0

What a perfect way to describe the sound they make when they hit the ground, each other, your hand: SATISFYING! Super satisfying. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thank you for this! It brought back memories. We used to play with these at school in San Diego!
Good to know it's a classic game played all over the world yea? 🙌🏼

I remember these from my childhood. When we were not playing Chinese jacks, we used them as markers for hopscotch.
Hopscotch is another nostalgic low-tech game... a blast from the past... so fun!
Oh my gosh, me and my sister played this in the 80's.

At my grade school the winner won the other players jacks.
What a great incentive to win! 😬
There's a fun game called Pick Up Pigs that's like Uno meets Jacks
Sounds fun--I'll search it up!
I'm fairly sure that Candi was cheating.
Well she was throwing the jacks at Lance rather than handing them back to him.... Venting frustration to the sandbagger! Nah they're both really good.
