This came right on time as I needed something to distract me while detangling my hair lol. I personally don’t think you need to apologize for giving your honest opinion on the game. I’m sure you’re being polite and considerate of others but I don’t see it as negativity for being honest with your experience. I’ve only played some of Mathis’ Encore Route and some side stories so I’ve barely played the game. But I absolutely agree with you about the annoyance of having to reread so much of what happened in the first game. I know it’s necessary to some degree but I do wish there was a way to bypass it. I noticed it enough and I’ve barely played Mathis route😭. I’m the biggest advocate for the Skip Read function in Otome games so this will definitely be a challenge for me. I don’t know if I had high expectations but playing Lucas’ Salvation ending and knowing there was a FD…..I was like WHAT ELSE CAN BE DONE HERE?!?! 🤣. I’ve been anticipating that the most and Ankou so I’ll see how I feel by the end of that. Again, I appreciate your honesty and transparency ❤.
Ahhh so you're feeling it too! I thought I was being harsh 😭 But yeah, same, having no skip read makes an otome practically unplayable for me after one route! I hope you enjoy the other portions of the FD. If the other characters follow Scien's lead then I can see the sequels being really fun at least!
Oh boy. Now I’m wishing I’d waited for a sale on this one. At least thanks to your video, I can go into it with realistic expectations. Thanks for letting us know!
You're welcome! I don't want to influence peoples' purchases too much, but I did think it was important to let people know of the repeated content since I know it's a lot of money we're spending on these games! Hopefully you can still enjoy it as there are great aspects as well!
Hahaha perhaps I should do more of these! The thing is I'm usually quite chilled out with otome and almost always find things I like about it. I'll definitely consider it though! Esp if there's one that infuriated me 🤭
Thank you so much for this review. I think tragedy and romance can work really well together in a story, but I think in order to work effectively there needs to be a balance between the two. If there's lots of romance or spice in the story before hand you become attached to the character's and then the tragedy at the end has more of an impact. I get that the first game was more about the world building and solving all the mystery's in the game which is why I feel the fandisk was such a missed opportunity. Because we already know the story and the lore I was hoping they would add more sweet or spicy elements which were lacking in the first game and would give the romance a bit more substance. I will definitely get the fandisk eventually, I'm just gonna wait a bit for a really good sale.
You're welcome! It's still a fun fan disk, but it really was the repeated content. I agree with you, more romance and fluff would have been very much welcomed, and probably why I enjoyed the 'sequels' so much! Just if only they were longer and the devs had not focused so much on the alternate endings/Ankou route :(
You are absolutely right, Ankous route is just like the route in the main game only with more Ankou and the new character (I like both of them a lot, which is good :)) but even someone who hasn't played the main game would understand the main game story with that route lol, because everything is repeated again, which is basically not bad but the price is a bit high for it. But Im not completely through with Ankous route yet, as there are a lot of repetitions ^-°
It felt so looooong when you'd already read it/know what's going to happen! I'm glad you like the new characters too. I wish there were more scenes them with it, then I may have enjoyed the ankou route more!
I'm here for your opinion, and I don't think that you need to apologize for it. You've been kind and considerate for folks who enjoy it and who are willing to overlook the repetition and price-to-new-content ratio. I appreciate how you list the things you both do and don't like, explain without major spoilers, and say you don't plan to finish it. That's good. Don't force yourself to continue with something you're not enjoying when you've already played enough for a first impressions video. A recent personal example: Several of my friends are enjoying the new Dragon Age game (The Veilguard, Oct. 31, 2024), but there are multiple elements that make it not fun for me, so - after playing enough to recruit all the companions - I gave up playing my sister's copy and went to play more Stardew Valley on my own console. If I want to play a DA game, I'll go back to the original trilogy, probably the first game, Dragon Age: Origins, a complicated dark fantasy where your choices matter A LOT. My friends are cool with me wanting to play something different. 🥰👍
Thank you! It's difficult to be negative as I know how much it sucks when you really enjoyed something and someone is being a party pooper about it 😂 I feel like sometimes certain games just don't work for you, much like your DA experience, and that's ok. I'm glad your friends were able to enjoy it, and I'm happy to hear you didn't force yourself. It's even more of a waste of money if you force yourself to play something and feel unhappy as a result of it!
I can wholeheartedly recommend the main game, esp if you're into the darker ones. However, I couldn't say the same for the FD. It may be a good idea to keep the main game (ErroR Salvation) on your list, and scratch the FD, for now!
I'm sorry 😭 Maybe check out some more reviews like Otome Kitten and Blerdy Otome to see what they think? I feel like they are pretty good at being objective/insightful. Who knows, you might enjoy it, although I'd personally recommend it on sale if you really are curious!
@@RestingPeachFace AAH DONT APOLOGISE DWW but this was a really good insight regardless. i might pick it up when its on a further sale bc i don't want to reread a lot ykk
Yeah that's the thing, as someone who despises repetition, the rereading really ruined things for me :( I hope you'll be able to enjoy it more than I did! The salvation sequels were certainly fun, even if they weren't that long :)
Im a huge virche fan but yeah i agree with you! Epic lycoris is not like your typical fandic🥹 adolphe is my fave so i saved him for last for both encore and emotion and i cant help but wish for a longer route for emotion for all of the them? Im finished with most of the game, save for some interlude stories. I wanted a new original story for the fandisc if that makes sense? I wished the emotion routes for salvation were longer😭 Id say scien’s emotion route got me quite surprised i was not expecting him to be how he was HAHAHAHA some of his cgs made me 😯 in a good way though HAHAHAHA i enjoyed reading drifter’s route, but yeah i also wished it could be explored more but either way for some reason i teared up at the end 😅 The new sprites are also nice! Love their new look! Ceres is so pretty in hers!! she is my girlie but yeah i always feel bad for her justice for my girl i just wanna give her a hug😭 i also wonder who is actually the poster boy for virche bc yves adolphe and ankou do give off poster boy energy and i always had a thought its yves since he had a cover with ceres but then again ankou had a cover with ceres😂 what about my man adolphe!! Glad you mentioned the price bc for it, i wanted new content, dont get me wrong im glad they added drifter and emotion routes but idk there could be more? it just felt abit repetitive? Also yeah ankou’s route was rly just le salut all over again and it took me so long to finish it hahah i took a day break to continue it🥹 im still virche trash and i enjoyed it still but i do have some parts where i hoped there was more…..🥲
Yesss! I think that was one of the big issues for me too. It was like the content I actually enjoyed was such a small part of it. I wish they had reduced the length of Encore, and added it to Emotion. It's just such a shame because Virche had been one of my favourite otomate titles for a while. It felt like they just saw fans of it as a cashcow. I'm glad to hear that you were able to at least enjoy it though! Hopefully Adolphe route meets your expectations 🥰
I still haven't finished Virche. But given what you mentioned about the repeated text I don't know if I would enjoy the FD that much. An instance of this annoying me like in Piofiore: The finale in Piofiore was a lot of that with repeating Gillbert's route some small bits of Henri. {I liked Henri I just feel like the original game ending kind of should have cut out the repeated parts and focused on the ending and new content} so I feel like this similar but instead of the finale a lot of Virche FD that based on what you said. If I finish Virche and really like it maybe I will get it on sale. I was considering asking it for Christmas but now I will probably wait for a sale since I haven't finished the main game and based on your first impressions I think I would regret getting if at full price if I do get it.
Omg I know exactly what you mean about the finale route! It felt almost unnecessary and I remember wondering when the game was going to end 🤣 The Le Salut route in the main game was already so so so SO long, like two routes worth (is how it felt), so ofc having to repeat that for the very little new content felt... 💀 I don't want to put you off of buying a game because we all have different tastes, so perhaps reading other reviews like from Otome Kitten and Blerdy Otome would be good as they are insightful and quite good at being relatively objective imo. Definitely would recommend getting it on sale if you do plan on doing so though!
Hi Lilu. I just finished the Ruka route in TM3. Sort of. I didn't answer the choices right and I got the Best Friend Ending instead. I am clearly not good at this series.
Don't worry! TMGS series is renown for being really difficult. You also need the stats of particular traits to be at a certain level. It isn't just about dialogue options. I hope you manage to get a better ending in your next playthrough!
Unrelated fan disk question: Have you played the Norn9 fan disk and is it worth putting on my Christmas list for the Switch? If it heavily repeats the base game or is sloppy or out of character, I'll pass. I LOVED the base game - only played the good endings, which is what I usually do. Thanks!
Iirc I made a first impressions of the FD based on Kakeru route, and it was all pure fluff and no repeated words at all! Usually a FD should be like that where it gives players the fan service rather than try to be something different. If you enjoyed the main game I think the FD would be a good option!
I loved the main Virche game and l really just wanted the FD for more romance, which was practically non existent in the first game. But the FD was just not it. I completed Lucas,Yves, Mathis and Scien so far. And l'm dissapointed. I love the Emotion/Salvation endings, yes. But they are extremly short, some didn't even pass the 1 hour mark. I think the devs could have done so much better If they wouldn't have bothered with the Encore endings. The Encore endings are around 4 hours long and just painful to watch. They added even more drama to create a slight change in the story, which in the end of the day doesn't even make a big difference to the main game and only adds more gore and bloodshed. I am a huge Lucas fan and l don't want to spoil anything, but the way his salvation ending was handled left me quite salty.. It's like Otomate focused so much on tragedy that they completly forgot the fun parts of an FD and tried to shove them in trough the Interlude Side Story.
I'm glad (and not because it's sad so many were disappointed) that I wasn't the only one!!! Lucas was also my favourite in the end, and I tried going through his encore (I wanted to have experienced at least two characters before making this vid) but just struggled so hard I haven't managed. It's so rare for me to dnf a game, and I hate talking negatively but I think this game just really was a disappointment in many respects. Hopefully you can enjoy the rest of it, but it would also be very understandable if you didn't tbh. Even if you are a completionist, which usually I am 😅
I've only played Mathis's encore route so far and i have already forgotten the endings lmao i guess they just weren't as memorable as his endings from the main game 😅
They weren't! I think it's also because we have already read the prior parts and moved on! Not to mention we went in expecting it to be drastic so there is no shock factor now T_T
